In no way will cost go down for the state with Universal healthcare except maybe the first year. The hospitals knowing that the government has a bottomless wallet will end up hiking prices. The government will step in and end up saying "You can only charge this much and here is a list of regulations." This happens every time. Costs will go up (illegals not paying taxes makes this even worse). Doctors will leave the state. State will pay outrageous prices to bring new ones in. In the end you will end up with Mexico and the other states will end up carrying the burden. They could require certain people (with money and jobs) buy health insurance but the doctors still will hate waiting for those government payoffs. If you don't believe me go ask to a doctor that has dealt with medicare.
