the power brokers own everything-including you. the objective is to divide and conquer. Orwell missed the date by only 10 years! 1974 was the year, not 1984. I would also like to thank you for the "big brother is watching you" EYE, or as in your case "big sister". appropo

That doesn't even make sense. A house that doesn't have enough to power to sustain LIFE? Is she a computer?

Who needs lightbulbs and blenders to survive????

Poor women. She obviously doesn't have enough money to go into court.

beginning to wonder if it wasn't the cheap labor they wanted all along. the allow the cost of living to just keep going up and up, knowing full well that the wages are keeping stride, then they go on to set up programs that essentially pick and chose among those that can't make ends meet who should get aide, who shouldn't, then, when they give out that aide, well, the very act increases the chance of another increase in the cost of living, it makes the ones receiving the aide more willing to just accept the low wages, and it gives all the companies a boost by providing customers for their overpriced services and commodities even who in no way be paying customers any other way. throw into that the fact that the "poor" have to work at least some to get that aide, any job, at any wage, well....hey, there's your cheap labor force, living better than many of those earning a little bit higher wage, but not qualifying for the aide that they need...
so, well, they cater to mainly single moms and kids...so what do we have becomming more prevalent, hey, single moms and kids! Well, I've got to tell ya, there's a few single moms with kids out there that wouldn't have become single moms with kids if it wasn't for the fact that there was no way in heck that they could make it on what they were bringing home if they were living with dad, no program to help them, no better paying jobs for them to take, no other option!

you tell me what they want. since the conclusion I just made makes absolutely no logical sense whatsoever, especially if you extend your foresight out a little further than the present wants and desires. in the end, it seems what you will end up with is a few very, very rich people, trying to support a mass of people, but not only supporting them, but, supporting them much better than they were willingly supporting themselves for.

I think they want us all wards of the state, the reason for this really, though, seems insane!

They can't bust you for growing 'regular' veggies. I just think it sucks that on the word of the electric company, they can get a warrant to search your home because you use too much or too little electricity! I heard of a guy that had his home searched because he was buying too much fuel oil for his home. Turns out they were right, he was fueling a diesel generator to run grow lights to grow illegal drugs. But how do they get search warrants with info such as this. Our governments, local, state and federal, are out of hand. Our freedoms are GONE! Sorry for getting off topic.

Oh I thought maybe the local grocery stores may step in and want to penalize you for not buying from their marketplace. But, I guess they really can't, well at least not yet...lol.

I don't know what about the other part of my question? What about snowbirds here in florida that use their electricity only 1/3 of the year? Do they get turned in? I don't see any of them getting turned in, is it because they can trace them to using the electricity up north the other 2/3 of the year? I think it's a valid question.

I may try an experiment and while my children are at school during the day, shut off my main and don't use any power during the day, just to see if they come out here with any documents...Maybe I'll do that and start a thread about it. Do you think it would even make a significant difference even to alert them?

All valid points, but What I think it is, is so that in making us more dependant they will not have any fear of an uprising revolution because there would be so few who would support it. Is that not what we are seeing right now? They want the people weak so that we will not fight them!

Man, eff this government. I'm seriously questioning the legality of that. I know people who just flat out DON'T have electricity and there has never been any mention of eviction or anything of the sort.

You know this country is going to sh*t when the older generation (like my grandmother and I'm 21 mind you) wants a revolution almost more than our generation does.

Let me know how it turns out. I bet Florida has a different criteria for investigating such things, with the snobirds, timesharing and whatnot.

Well, there, with Age comes Wisdom, the old folks want this because in their day and age they know that things were better, remember that better and if I'm not mistaken they probably lived through the depression, That isn't saying much for today's society, then, is it?

HMMM living in ohio and having a large Amish population all over the state, makes me wonder how they get around issues like this?

They have no gas lines, no fuel tanks, no electric hookups, cook over a wood buring stove, use oil \ candles for lighting and have lots of kids.

And yet somehow manage to live just fine.

Mabye we should send a few out there to "settle in" and watch the code enforcement officers heads spin trying to figure out how to evict them.

well, welfare started about the same time as women's liberation, ya know, divorce your man, work outside the home, ect.
but, can you imagine what our unemployment numbers would have looked like if all those people were out hunting down the jobs also? quite possibly, the numbers would have been high enough to cause a revolt right then and there. I agree, they are trying to get people not to rise up against them, you say to make them weak and needy, but really, could it be more like a bribe, here lady, na we don't want to enforce child support, or make wages more equal, or even to allow you in the workforce really, but here, have this nice check, you will live better than you were living with your husband, and you can just take care of your kids. Only the bribe is only good as long as there enough non-elites out there trying to be self sufficient or being forced to, to pick up the tab. too many finding themselves hurting, and well, you risk losing too much of the consumer base (which has happened in the housing market and healthcare) and possibly an uprising if things are allowed to go beyond that. or...worse yet, the elites themselves having to dish out too much money to keep the thing running!

Absolutely, it can be deemed as bribery as well. Why not? Either way the outcome is the same there are more getting something out of this system theen those of us who are NOT...so even if we did start an uprising we wouldn't have the numbers, I know that's exactly what they want. We just wouldn't have the numbers.

I live in an RV with no working fridge (when it worked i could run off gas, 12v or 110v), i run my tv and pc off 110vAC (i could use an inverter or the generator to power those if i wanted) lights off 12vDC and rarely use the heater or AC. i plan on installing solar/wind soon - i live at the beach in an RV park, but could live on the beach if i wanted. Quite a few "homeless" people camp on the beach in a tent or RV and move about 50ft every 3 days. People CHOOSE to live like this.

In my town (tourist trap) people tried to put up solar/wind, but the residents voted against it because it is an eyesore and the wind generators might hurt the migrating birds. Right now the wind is blowing 20mph, gusts to 35mph.

We're doomed.

Seems like she has broken this law. Stupid bureaucracy IMHO.

How absurd. *I* don't even have an air conditioner and in the summer here it swelts to over 45c and in the winter I rug up in as much as possible.

Pathetic laws.

and well, consider the rulers of the world. they lost their kingship, their absolute power from God, then they lost their slave labor, then they lost their right to child labor and cheap women's labor. man manage to obtain the freedom to chart his own destiny.....the next in line were the women!! and well, they couldn't let that one happen, no way. it is the confines of that traditional marriage that teaches the little boys and little girls how to live and accept a world made up of pecking orders with them on the top!
so, well, ya, they couldn't have that one!

EXACTLY, when I moved here to Florida, I was shocked there were no rules whatsoever governing a residence to have a heater or air conditioning, I was floored, but then again it's not supposed to get that cold down here, NEither is it to get that chilly in Arizona, As for the refrigerator thing, What about it? In Philly I rarely used my fridge at all, I normally bought the food to feed my family from day t day, The only thing in the fridge was soda and juice. LOL, I did it this way because the store was so close and I wasn't driving either so coming home walking with tons of grocery bags was not an option, but had we no fridge, it would not have been a problem for us. We never used it basically.

lol....88 degrees? I'd still have two layers on, or at least a long sleeved shirt...I'm cold blooded...probably would freezed to death if they decided that no home needed to be heated over 69 degrees. which is what the problem is with these visions of "the perfect world" and trying to force the world we live in to fit the model...we're not all and the same, and what is perfect for you, isn't with me. this lady might have been happy living without electricity, cooling herself in her pool, and eating raw vegetables she pulled out of her garden that same day, who knows...

City ordinances ONLY apply to corporate entities, you and most people are corporate enitites as a result of birth certificates. AMISH do not have electricity, they do not pay taxes, they own their land outright and why? They are an Ecclesiastical society, protected by the Vatican and are exempt from anything within the State or federal government.

What people don't get here is "Equal protection under the law, IS the Law."

If the Amish are exempt, we all are. That simple. But until you file a UCC-1 and a Common Law lien on your home, YOU do not own it!! And the government can do what they want!!!

The overall issue is that the state is trying to regulate how you personally are trying to live your life.

If there are kids in the house, then sure...make sure a healthy standard of living is observed considering they have no choice...but if its just an adult...if he/she wants to live in a tent or a treehouse on his/her property and simply drop waste into a bucket, that should be their choice not to be infringed upon.

the only factor that may make a difference is people under 18 living at the residence...otherwise...stay the f out of peoples choice of living...what the hell.

The fact is that nobody really owns their home. It is rented from the government at a very high price. If you are paying your local government less than $3,000 in the US to rent the property (an extortion known as "property tax") your government landlord will likely evict you. Or at the very least, rob you blind and attempt to throw you in prison. Property taxes means we are nothing more than feudal surfs.

This is a case where the woman wrongfully believed she owned her property when in point of fact her government owns it and she rents it. Sad and infuriating, but true. The problem is that we have allowed government to own our properties.

Who in a suburban or urban area would dare make a change to their property without applying for a building permit? There is a good reason you've got to get permission to modify your property... it isn't yours! It should be, but it isn't.
