I hope this hasn't been posted before, but I cannot find a reference to it

And I do know that this won't come as a huge shock to anyone.

Facebook are defenitely up to something with this, so I would recommend all facebook users to check their settings and remove ALL of what they don't recognise

As with the internet nothing is safe or secure anyways, but just as a timely reminder please keep an eye on those settings

instructions to check

Check your application settiings, just to right of your name at the top,
go into "added to profile". If you see one in there called "unnamed app" delete it... Its an internal spybot. INTERESTING.

I will post back if i ever find out what it is / was

The "unnamed app" could be an application that isn't in use any more because it's not compatible with the changes that Facebook has gone through lately. There are many such apps. Is there any prove that this is being used to spy on people?

Or, if it is Facebook spying on people, to me, it seems rather unneffcient to add this to every persons Facebook; unless "they" are waiting for people to delete it so they know who to spy on!

If Facebook is spying on me, they're not going to get much more than random Bible verses and random pictures that I use as my profile picture.

Well when it's owned by the CIA through front companies and piped through echelon system, a little application is the least of your worries.

www.alanhart.co.uk...
This link suggests it is your boxes tab app.

I'm such an FB newb I can't even find where to check it... yet I've been a IT tech for years. lol..

If it was FB spying (I'm not a user) - then why have an app that can be removed easily and draws suspicion.

Clearly they can write the code, access the accounts, implement all the cleaver search and data mining algorithms - but they are defeated by an eagle eyed user or 2??

Checked three family members Facebook and two of them had 'unnamed App' added to profile.

Go to Settings - Application Settings - select from drop-down 'Added to Profile'...
...remove 'unnamed app' if there.

Facebook don't need an app to spy on you. They have complete control over your data without the app. It's strange how you say it is an internal spybot, when you don't know for sure.

i agree that they have control over everything that is done on their site.

But this is appearing on users profiles that have never done anything out of the "norm" or for that matter installed or agreed to any apps

and as pointed out, it is a timely reminder to keep on top of security settings

i find it very worrying that this type of thing is just appearing without the FB users knowledge

The application is the Boxes tab on your profile as has been said earlier. How about we try to do some independent research instead of following chain emails, hmm?

Of course, people will continue posting how they removed this filthy, filthy spybot from their profile. Oh well.

And?? You've not got any evidence it's anyone spying, let alone Facebook. In fact, of all the possibly spies, Facebook is the least likely, as they have your raw data in their database. They can spy on you without creating apps, without your knowledge.

Well if they are spying I dont care. All they will see is me complaining about wk and men...lol and the occasional link to ATS threads. If they want to spy they will find anyway to do it and I am more than likely unable to stop them. I dont post personal stuff on any social site. My blogs are boring to most and about nothing!

Oh yay more Facebook is spying on you and is the govt database into your life threads. These are always good for a laugh.

As someone said before...it is just the app for the "Boxes" tab on your profile page.

Do an experiment...add the boxes tab...check your apps...tada...the "unnamed app" is there. Remove the boxes tab...tada...unnamed app is gone.

READ THIS

they dont need you to install a new APP to spy everyone

its very possible that they have a system that you will never know it exists gathering information about all the users and potential threats and send to the gov ...

I mean, thats what I would do if I had all these users in the same system

and that can be made easily ... so, stop being naive, you cant protect yourselves ... you will just have to not join some weird groups like anti 911 because, well, later it can haunt u
