Are you kidding with us, South Americans citizens op? Hey, where are the pictures of the pollution made in North America and Europe? I want to see pictures showing some havoc made by North America and Europe. Another thing to considerate, show some beauty of South America. It's very rude to show pictures from all around the world and just include horrible pictures about the devastation of Amazon. If Amazon is the lungs of the world, I wonder who is the cancer of the world...

You made this thread just to alert about the devastation of Amazon? If you really are interested to help in this case, come to the forest, do some noise, maybe you get what you really want.

I've actually been to a couple of the pictures you provided, and even seen the visual effects in person while fighting forest fires as a young man that is provided in one of your pictures, not to mention I live within 80 miles of Crater Lake, Oregon. I recommend that beauty to all... anytime of year Crater Lake is awesome to behold!

The first pictures are simply breathtakingly beautiful. I look for beauty all day every day and I find it everywhere. This truly is a gift we call life...

Regarding how you ended your post. Even though this is your thread, I felt you ended your post in bad taste. Humanity has a right to live, and the Earth will repair itself regardless of what we humans do. I believe you should have left those beautiful pictures alone to speak for themselves, and the beauty this planet possess… Those pictures remind us why we should be good stewards of this beautiful planet. Even still, I believe your last pictures completely took away from that message. Besides… having fought a hundred forest fires in my youth, I can tell you nature is AWESOME and nothing can keep the beauty of this planet down for long.

I would've starred and flagged this thread, but I just can't for the reasons already mentioned above.

You see, the problem is that Brazil has the responsibility of keeping what belongs to them.

Yes, the rest of the world has the same type of crime, yes, we have trashed the whole world.

But why keeping pointing fingers? One thing is to build machines that pollute the air and water, and another is to destroy one of your own treasures just to make money.

Brazil had the responsibility to keep the Amazon forest in better shape. First, because Brazil made a huge fuss about it some years ago, that it was in their territory and all that, arguing that 70% of it was in Brazil and.....for what?

So they can destroy it? To plant other things that nobody needs?

I find it funny that vegetarians started part of the green movement, and companies from Brazil started to figure that in Amazon they can grow 2x more soy products than in anywhere else.

So the "green people" started a movement that is destroying the Amazon. Touché!

Again, don't take it personally. Brazil is just one of the (almost all) countries commiting crimes against nature.

The problem is, Brazil has a problem that really afects us directly, and one that can affect us FAST.

Well I didn’t take the pictures so I can’t be fully sure of that but either way you’re kind of missing the point of the entire thread sadly.

only thing i find sad is that your under the illusion that scenes like this occur naturally in their entirety.

take it from some one who does this sort of thing, just about all of those pictures where color corrected/overlayed/toned/shaded/lighted and even compiled, sights like this don't exist....at least not the way they are presented.

want to see nature? log off your PC and go see the world.

Well I still thank you for your post and if I could go back and change the way I ended the thread I wouldn’t have change a thing still to be honest.

Because the whole point of me making this thread was because I not only wanted to show how nature itself can be beautiful and amazing I also wanted to show that we if we keep doing what we are doing then we may not have that in the future

But you'll notice I posted alot more nature pics than disaster one’s because I wanted to heavily focus on that natural beauty instead of focusing mainly on the disaster side of things.

But like I said I started this thread for a specific reason and I wouldn’t change the way I made it even if I could.

Thanks for your post all the same.

Funny I didn't look at this as a "Brazil" thing at all when I looked those pictures. The manmade wounds of our world run deep. In live in America in the state of Illinois. Illinois is infested with invasive species of plants and animals and the amount of prarie left is a tiny fraction of what it was when the land was under other management...

In short the citizens of my state have been grossly neglagent in their stewardship of their home.

Thus its up to each of us to do something to "fix up the place".

What have I done?

I've ripped out a lot of lawn and planted plants native to my area.
I've put in rain barrels to help lessen my water useage
I've supported my home owners association spending money to help restore the acres of natural area
I've stood up to home owners who protest when the "hedges" in natural areas were ripped out because they were invasive species and they didn't like their "privacy screen" being taken away.

In short I've educated myself and applied those lessons to improve the enviroment.

I know however I can do more and that is my goal.

So don't get to upset, we are all of us in this together and there is more then enough blame to go around.

Its long past time we as a people took some pride in this place where we live.

CGI and photoshopped.

I got these for my wallpapers XD.

This world is not "fragile."

We, humans, are "fragile."

We can disappear at any moment and the Earth will heal itself through tectonic movement, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, hurricanes, natural weathering, and so many other processes.

The planet is fine, the people are #ed. We are screwed if we can't find another sustainable source of energy.

Not computer generated at all. They are all real locations. I recognise one of them from having visited the place - Castlerigg Stone circle near Keswick in Cumbria.

Some of the pictures may have had their colours enhanced, but other than that they appear to all be natural.

True, Earth has been through quite alot and is still plodding away quite happily. Our impact is a drop in the ocean when we compare it to earth's history. And humans evolved on earth and are inevitably linked to it, we have every right to survive and reproduce. Our strongest trait is our minds and we use that to our advantage, we are just as natural in our ways as any other animal. Great pics though but quite obviously far too touched up.

Those are beautiful scenes; the one of all the water falls is most striking to me.
The world I live on, but none of them place is where I live, and I would say neither do you. you run a search of beautiful place none of which I say you never been, but you run the same rampaged life as me and the next poster, and claim we destroy these places, well what is it you do differently than me that make you a bleeding heart to these photos of places you haven’t seen firsthand? Google images for an argument, sitting in your house build from these destroyed forests? Maybe? Do you contribute to the poison in the waters? Does your dad, mother, sister, brother, cousin(s), daughter, son, grandkids ect,.
Honestly I must confess , the world I live in doesn’t look that beautiful, its hard rock forced into unnatural forms, the stars are less bright due to artificial lights, and the indigenous people are hurtful hateful beings. Maybe the thread should show a little bit of real life , that most of us can relate to? Or a compare/contrast. Truth be told that beautiful water fall I still can see in my mind, could be leveled tomorrow and I wouldn’t know, or care, because it’s just a picture to me. It has no importance on me. I guess what I am working at is, this: you just feed me a bunch of pictures, while showing 3 simple pictures of forests being taken down, while you sit or type on parts of that same forest.
Just assuming

XD, I found a lot of these wallpapers on interfacelift.com

Many of the authors/artists said they've used photoshop to enhance the pictures to look nice.

So pretty and so beautiful. Those are some of the best pictures of nature I've seen in a long time.

I grew up in an extremely rural area (with sights similar to some of those the OP posted nearby) but have lived in several large cities for many years now. In my imagination and nostalgia, I vastly prefer rural life, but I know it isn't always easy...for one thing, decent jobs are generally hard to come by (which is why I left in the first place).

I was fortunate enough to spend my youth on a well-run, beautiful rural farm, and I think its a very healthy way to live but its a lot harder than most non-farmers seem to imagine...you really need to know what you are doing, you really need to work your *** off dawn until dusk (every family member from age toddler to 80 or so), and even then you need luck and good weather to make a good harvest. Hunting isn't all fun and games either. Still, though, the longing for nature is very deep. When I do return to a natural place, I can feel my mind almost "opening up;" my conceptual space expanding or almost unfolding, becoming vaster. I also feel about a decade or two younger.

I think its beyond sad that many people's exposure to deep nature is becoming so virtualized that the can mistake a movie like "Avatar" for the real natural world...they don't know the sights and smells and the feel of grit in their boots. they've never tugged on a line to pull a live trout from a brook, and they don't have the ability to gut and cook it as easily as tying their own shoes. Its immensely sad and dishartening.

I know humans weren't meant to live stacked up in cities like rats in a cage, but somehow that's the way things are trending as it becomes harder and harder to make a community in real nature...Its a kind of catch 22. I suppose we are going for quantity over quality in so many ways...

I used to live in Germany in the Black Forest area.

Beautiful place.

You can actually see the stars at night.

If you want to live with comfort, go to Europe.

If you want ot become an alcoholic in the American consumer culture then stay here.

If the OP or anyone can U2U the source of these pictures, it would be highly appreciated. I wish to get these pictures but with bigger resolution for some projects..So, if you know where to find these pictures (all in one place would be good) or if the OP could pack and upload them to somewhere (other than rapidshare, please) I would really appreciate it.
