We've heard so much about the prevalence of the liberal media bias in America. And yet, Air America couldn't survive the airwaves with competition from Fox News Radio, Rush Limbaugh, and company.

The truth is that corporations run our media, not the left-wing fringe. And the left has yet to produce dynamic media personalities like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity.

It would have only cost $4-5 million to keep Air America on the airwaves. And yet no liberal Hollywood celebrities stepped in and assumed the financial burden of keeping this network operational.

It really is a testament to the fact that left-wing liberal ideologues have a hard time appealing to the sensibilities of the average American.

No surprise here.

Anyone who wants to listen to whiny idiots with no concept of reality only needs turn on MSNBC.

No need for Air America since MSNBC already has the monopoly on leftist idiocy.

That's sad news for me. Though much less sad than if this had happened 2 years ago when I was still listening to it. I don't claim to know the ins and outs of the titanic struggles with Air america, but the talent kept leaving or kept getting pushed. Because Air America was becoming less and less progressive I not only abandoned them I abandoned all stations. I now listen only by host or by show. Thank god for internet radio.

Thom Hartmann is one of the best of the progressives and would easily wipe the floor with Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, and Sean Hannity in any debate where shouting, screaming and deliberately disseminating untruths was not allowed. Thom has two advantantages over them:- the truth, and the ability to put together a reasoned argument.

Well when the local Air America Affiliate was bought and replaced with a 7th sports channel, it was a little obvious they were not going to be allowed to compete. Perhaps someone was afraid of real competition? Liberal radio gave us Rachael Maddow. Say what you like about her but I do not remember Rush making that transition as successfully. He had a huge lead to use as well.

I am sure the people here were all quietly demanding a 7th AM sports channel though.

Nothing against Rachel Maddow and Thom Hartmann, but they're not at the same level as Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh. I don't agree with those guys but they provide great entertainment and have dynamic personalities.

I've actually met Al Franken in person and he came across as a pompous douche bag. He wasn't likable at all and had a huge ego. And this is after reading his books and agreeing with a lot of what he wrote.

What liberal America is missing now is a public figure like Hunter S. Thompson. He really struck a nerve with his readers and didn't come across as the stereotypical condescending, pompous liberal. He was a brazen free spirit who could write soul jarring insights and commentary.

That's why a lot of us have turned to Ron Paul and other libertarians/independents out there.

Well, by "here" I meant within the broadcasting reach of the station, not ATS. How would they ever know who really won the game unless they can hear it from 7 different sources right? Air America was muscled out of our market where it was commercially successful. I have a hard time believe this is the only place it happened when the radio stations are owned by a handful of people. If the hosts are all whiny bores and the liberal point of view was so worthless, it should have failed on its own. Instead it was bullied. Whatever it takes to make Bill O'Really a few more bucks for his welcome mats and coffee mugs.

I get it! These 4 people worked for Air America....no wonder why it went bankrupt!

Thom Hartmann??? Never heard of him.

Rachel Maddow: She looked so cute announcing that Scott Brown had won Massachusetts! (Saw the clip on FOX, it was great!)

Al Franken: Stuart Smalley is the joke of the Senate!

Ed Shultz: Doesn't he work for ACORN? After all he encouraged everyone to get out and vote 10 times in the last election.

Let me tell you a little about Al Franken. He was at this event for Wounded Warriors at Walter Reed at the time. And he still couldn't help but come off as a pompous and condescending asshole.

There wasn't any compassion or sensitivity showing on his part. You could tell he was just there for political reasons and didn't really want to be there. He really didn't give a # about any of those poor guys. Or at least he didn't show it.

I lost all respect and admiration for Al Franken after that.

Maybe becuase the people that watch/listen to FAUX news will believe anything anyone says on it.

But the people that watch/listen to liberal news aren't so easily swayed into believing what the channel is preaching.

Yea I said preaching becuase conservatives are more religious and are used to having someone tell them what to think and how to feel. I understand that is a major stereotype, but you have to admit it is farly true.

First one was a typo, and the 2nd one, I am pretty sure that is how you spell fox if you don't agree with what they preach.

Oh well at least my point was correct

Actually, that is exactly how that is to be spelled. When you have to fight in court for the right to force your 'reporters' to tell lies, you are not "NEWS." Faux means fake. It is a play on words in regard to the fact that they legally won the right to lie and call it news.

You guys cannot even get humor.

First off someone said anyone watching Fox will believe anything. Insinuating stupidity. And then proceeded to spell incorrectly.

Next someone pointed out the spelling error comedically.

Next someone points out the obvious part that Faux is spelled Fox.

I almost pissed my pants there Carseller.

edit to add-you guys crack me up

Air America is going under AGAIN for the same reason it failed the first time:

The American People

Do Not Listen To It

We already get our fill of blatant liberal propaganda in the mainstream media.

That's also why that ridiculous little FOX News channel has higher ratings than any other network. They spew their own brand of propaganda, but it's NOT the same old liberal crap you hear on CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, et cetera.

That's one thing the liberal/socialists in America don't seem to GET... Of course the mainstream media is supported by corporate sponsors, but not because the corporate sponsors are liberal — it's because the mainstream media is just one more outlet for advertising.

Advertising makes or breaks any broadcast outlet. When the audience doesn't respond to the advertising, it's because they aren't watching or listening. When a broadcast outlet loses viewership/listenership, the corporate sponsors will pull out, and the broadcast outlet will crash and burn.

The same way Air America has been crashing and burning for years.

The same way CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, and MSNBC have been struggling not to crash and burn against FOX's superior ratings.

See, corporate sponsorship doesn't care about your political bias; corporate sponsorship only cares about reaching your audience. If you don't have an audience, the corporate sponsorship will disappear and you will crash & burn.

Does that make it clearer?

Listen to it where?

It would need to be on the radio - - - which in these days is owned by Clear Channel.

What did they spell incorrectly? You mean the typo? Hmmm. Shall we comb all of your posts and see if you have not made a typo or two. There is a difference between a blatant misspelling and a missed keystroke. If that is what you call humor, the no wonder we are still enjoying the wildly successful Fox Half Hour News Hour.

Next someone pointed out the spelling error comedically.

Really, which part was comedic? Break it down for me to just the funny parts. I am looking at the post now and I am having a really hard time finding the humor. What is funny though is that you spelled, "comedically" wrong. Or was it a typo?
