Doesn't mean they had anything to do with wretched Blackwater (as they were formerly known).

People can be evil without training.

Agreed I just used the youtube video title as the thread title, but I just wonder about their policy on shooting suspected looters they never gave the crew a clear answer. So have they enacted martial law?

More than likely. Numerous reports of looting and escaped criminals does suggest that armed officers will be on a shoot to kill basis.

I doubt the Americans will actively be on these patrols though, i'm guessing they will be leaving that to the Haitian police and military, whilst the Americans dish out aid / occupy the country.

Haiti is a #hole plain and simple. Yes there are innocent, good hearted Haitian people but overall the country is extremely corrupt and the Haitian people are extremely irresponsible and unwilling to hold themselves accountable for anything. And I wish the Wyclef Jean's of the world would spare me the "Haiti is a great country" line of dog crap...........if it was such a great country why don't you live there? Why doesn't Jared Leto live there anymore? George Clooney donated $1 million dollars!!!!!!!!!!! WOW! Amazing you're so generous!

The island of Haiti was NEVER meant to support a population of 9 million. Before the earthquake hit there were 380K orphans. 380k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! On one little tiny island? COME ON! I don't care how dumb, uneducated, or poor a group of people are.............tribes in the amazon are intelligent enough and have enough common sense to realize if their population explodes and they have too many offspring they will kill themselves off. Why can't Haitians realize this? And what the hell.............if their country is so damn poor where they hell are they getting all the food and energy to support 9 million people? Some of these so called poorest people in the world sure do look pretty well dressed.

I 'm all for letting a conrtry police their own, so I'm not for the hunting down part but I just see things getting out of hand over there and sadly more deaths (non earthquake kind)

I 100% agree. I detestr this type of inhumanity.

I should have said that in my post.

That is unreal. Men and guns go together like milk and whiskey but we still seem to think that is the way to roll.

It is sad because I own guns, but it is only to protect me (read: my wife and I) from other gun carrying idiots. :/

Well if that's how the damn Haitian people want to "police" their country screw them they should be left to their own devices then and the west and other countries should pull out. If you want the help and aid of the civilized world then you should try to act somewhat civilized. Poverty, catastrophe, lack of education are excuses and nothing more. The are tribes living in grass huts all over the world that seem to have more self respect, dignity, and common sense than the people of Haiti.

I feel for both of the men involved but especially for the one who died, I can only imagine the horror he felt lying there knowinghe was dying and also knowing that nobody was doing anything to help him just starring and filming.

Well I'm glad the reporter and the cameraman got their story instead of attempting to render some sort of aid to the wounded.

What the hell is wrong with people.

Thanks for your post.
Now we don't even have to leave our seats to see a huge a-hole.
If you ever manage to pull your head out, take a closer look around and see if you can get a grasp on what's really going on around you.
Many blessings...obviously needed.

[SNIP] I mean Zot Twady..........sounds to me like you've never left your seat for any reason. Sounds to me like you've never driven through an American ghetto in your life or a po dunk town in the rural midwest or you'd understand the point I'm trying to make. I grew up in North St. Louis right next to East St. Louis. You think Haiti is a bad bad place......LMAO!

Chances are you're probably some liberal 20 something year old starbucks coffee barista looking to blame all the world's poverty, hunger, and problems on the IMF, the World Bank, or dare I say it.....the big bad USA. I know the history of Haiti very well...............and I also have driven through more ghettos in the USA than you have hairs [SNIP] . I know poverty and I know crime and I know violence. Haiti is a cake walk compared to some of the areas even in the US. Remember that next time you go pointing fingers and pulling out your pity sponge. You can give a man a fish only for so long..........it's up to that individual whether he wants to learn how to fish or not.

I don't really see what's to be done about this from a North american standpoint. Either you get the guilt trip of allowing these things to happen or you get the guilt trip of "invasion" when you take over the policing of the country.
This is extremely bizarre even for that situation. The two cops sound like they're just bad cops, shooting people in broad daylight for no reason.
I think it's premature to use this video as a representation of haiti right now. I've seen a few videos of people "looting", where it's carried out orderly and cops fire in the air and scatter the crowd but do not pursue the looters.
I'd be willing to bet there were shootings like this by corrupt cops in haiti before the earthquake, just as there are in every country.
That was really awakward when they were just videotaping the guy dying though, wow.

Disturbing, But I don't think this has anything to do with Blackwater.

Haiti is 100 times worse than any mean ghetto in the US. There's no real comparison.

I've seen both.

On a good day a million people are starving in Haiti. Right now there are people who haven't eaten in a week or come near clean water. The more aggressive young guys are pushing women and children aside to get at the tiny amounts of food being made available.

Corruption and stupidity have reined supreme on the island for a century. There were forests which were picked clean for lumber and not replaced. Soil erosion, desert wasteland have resulted throughout. It's impossible to grow food where once it was plentiful.

Mass starvation is nothing new to the world. 2 Million died of it in North Korea not long ago. Tens of millions in China and Russia.

Now Haiti.
