Actually, in this I agree with you. You are also right in the fact that I am an example of why this would be a good implementation. I need to stop posting without gathering all the facts first.

I apologise for my ignorance and now I feel like a dick. I only have myself to blame. Keep up your efforts.

We have both learned here so you cannot be a dick, and there is no need for blame if wisdom is found.

You have also helped me consider and post things I would not have if you hadn't replied in the first place.

It's a fair point and I can see the thinking behind it. However, it's a short-sighted idea IMO. It would set a standard that's unnecessary for a popular discussion forum. Enforcing those ideas would disenfranchise more members than not.

Apart from the primary language issues, some members haven't left school. Others have poor literacy, but still have a point to make. Bottom line is that ATS is a community and a business. Alienating a large proportion of members on the whim of pedantry would diminish the size of the community and the diversity of opinion.

And if they have a "point to make" what is wrong with helping them offer a better post to start with, recieve better replies with knowledge rather than sarcasm or ridicule and most importantly learn for themselves in the process by thinking about what they're writing and how it may be viewed from another's perspective?
