BTS idea (the equivalent of stars)

Ok, let me start off by doing something that I usually find bothersome...a preface to my thoughts. ***now I don't care about stars, flags points and the like*** BUT, as I post/peruse/redirected...I notice that one can flag a thread, but not star; additionally, one can receive BTS points. Now I was thinking that BTS is a fun venue, but lacks that "flare"...so, maybe we could have something equivalent to stars....maybe moons...maybe little crescent moons. No point value necessary, just something to liven up BTS a bit. Has this been proposed previously? Am I out of my mind? Thoughts anyone?

Not that I believe anything is wrong with the current system...just thinking of little "tweaks" to make things a little more interactive.

Hmm... I like the idea -- there used to be stars in BTS and I miss them, but I think they went away when there was a bunch of whining about whether people were getting "undeserved" points for various reasons.

But sometimes I see something there that I would really like to star, but have absolutely nothing to add except maybe "Hahahahahaha"

Not so sure about mooning each other though

When I read a post here on BTS that I particularly like; this clever little graphic device fills the bill for me. and not only that, you can award yourself one or as many as you like if you think it's appropriate. And I do.

This will be the umpteenth time I've supported a suggestion to have stars or their equivalent back in BTS.

Even if they had no 'value' I'd like the chance to award them to some of the many thoughtful, interesting or funny posts there.

Contributors to the BTS forums are so supportive of each other and there's always someone willing to offer advice to a member who has a problem. Those are the posts I'd really like to star - I don't want to spam a thread by saying 'I agree with what he said' but really good advice needs a bit of re-inforcement. A star would be perfect.

Why is it that whenever someone mentions stars they have to justify the comment with "I dont really care about stars or flags"

What is it that makes us so ashamed of them???

Because i care about what people think of my thoughts and ideas... If i didnt care then why would i bother posting anything?

And i rekon most people feel the same but just dont wanna admit it incase it makes them look shallow...

It's a good idea. BTS is where some of the brightest minds on ATS go to mess about! It's an escape from some of the members that take themselves so seriously. I got flamed on ATS for quoting South Park! Damn hippies

Sure....we don't want flags, stars or applause...we just get satisfaction from putting ideas 'out there' and seeing what comes back! Dumb idea....we all love getting recognition...and the more stars, the better. Hell, I'd set up my mobile phone to txt me everytime I got a star...yup I'm that sad!

Another consideration is that some of the BIGGEST flag-whoring, star counting members of ATS hang out there....and they know who they are....cough...Zazz...Schro...cough. It'd actually be an act of kindness to bring in a reward system above flags (which nobody uses on BTS anyway). Think of the humanity!
