6.1 Aftershock hits Haiti region 6:03am today

www.foxnews.com

BREAKING NEWS — A strong earthquake has hit Haiti, shaking buildings and sending people running into the streets.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the preliminary 6.1 magnitude quake hit at 6:03 a.m. (1103 GMT) Wednesday about 35 miles northwest of the capital of Port-au-Prince.

It says the quake struck at a depth of 13.7 miles.

AP reporters in the Haitian capital say the temblor sent scores of people fleeing into the streets

Just when they thought it was over a strong aftershock occurs. Maybe there is someone with an earthquake causing machine...or maybe that fault line has been so quiet for so long that it's just time for it to let rip. After reading that thread about a Haiti conspiracy I was pretty taken back by the idea, but in this crazy world we are living in these days who knows what is really possible. What do you guys think?

This is a little weird that this aftershock just comes out of nowhere some days later. Maybe there is someone with an earthquake causing machine. After reading that thread about a Haiti conspiracy I was pretty taken back by the idea, but in this crazy world we are living in these days who knows what is really possible. They are saying there is a possibly of a tsunami being caused from this one. What do you guys think?

It isn't weird for aftershocks to be days, even years longer than the initial quake.

apparently what has been reported is that this is not the type pf earthquake to produce tsunamis. These are plates rubbing against each other, not where one slides under the other, causing water displacement.

That is a very basic description, I am sure others could elaborate more.

You're right they said there won't be a tsunami but about 20 minutes ago the were saying there was a possibility.. But then again I was watching it on tv and all these idiots don't know what they are talking about. Sorry about that.

oh no! I think it's logical to always think it a possibility! It's not like we can tell the earth how to move. I'm just thankful this series of quakes seems to be following a ...safer (?) plan.

NO! NO! NO!

There is no conspiracy here.... Haiti just happens to be laying right at the Epicentre of quake action... sitting right between 2 Techtonic plates which when hit against one another cause Earthquakes!!

Yet California which is in probably just as much of an Earthquake prone area as Haiti has been silent as far as major Earthquakes for decades?

Something is VERY fishy about what's going on in Haiti. Truth is stranger than fiction. And this tells me if we all believe what you believe then CA is SEVERELY overdue for a major Earthquake. Or something else is going on. Maybe not necessarily an Earthquake machine per se but who knows.

At first i thought that HAARP was involved, now i think its more to do with what the Mayans predictedand the timeline between now and 2012. The sun is acting itself recently (to put it blunt) It could have something to do with the holes in our magnetospere allowing more particles through. Everything that is happening now all coincides with the events that have been predicted to lead up to doomsday.

...

California just had a 6. (5?) earthquake complete with a dozen plus aftershocks this month. Can we be grateful it was offshore and not closer to densely populated areas?

The fact that the last recorded earthquake of this magnitude happened in Haiti 200 years ago tells me it was much more likely to be hit soon- CA has it's fun much more often.

I'm not saying that THERE IS a conspiracy but I think it's a little fishy. I mean a 6.1 aftershock is no small quake my friends. If there was anything left standing you can be sure that it is probably is shambles for sure now. It's going to take a long time to rebuild Haiti. I'm also curious to how much money has been collected for them because I've seen quite a few, as well as heard a bunch of charities and ads asking for donations, yet it seems people are still struggling just to get clean water. There is looting taking place, people breaking water pipes for a few drops of water, and a lot of people are fleeing to the Dominican Republic border. I know their airport isn't 100% functional ATM, but it seems all this money is being collected and these people aren't getting the sufficient supplies they need. I just hope this doesn't turn into another Katrina

The problem is, people are "now" mind framed. This is a negative influence of our live fast die young get everything now lifestyle we have created. This is not McDonalds drive thru, you will not get your relief with a side of hope within minutes of your order.

This is serious as was Katrina, the problem with Katrina was it was preventable, but your voted in politicians squandered the cash. I do not think a 7+ + 6+ earthquake can be as preventable regardless of prevention. These people have been through a major event, many lost lives, and many nations are attempting to help them. There will be squabbling over who can take the labels home later, but remember you can not fix Hiati after a few days regardless of how many planes, aid, supplies, cash you throw at it. Be realistic at least.

Someone should tell that to the pathetic parents of those kids missing at the Montana hotel. I mean there was one dad who is a blubbering idiot begging Obama to do what is already being done. You're absolutely right. This was a MAJOR disaster and things aren't going to happen overnight. I mean 100k + people were killed in a matter of minutes.

Why "fishy"? It's quite ordinary for me. What makes you believe that a 6.1 aftershock should NOT occur after a 7.0 one?

Well doesnt this just blow the HAARP Conspiracy rightout the water....or does it?

I think that counts for two.

idk I suppose you're right... I guess its just lack of sleep playing with my mind. Although I wasn't aware that aftershocks could occur even years after a quake. So how can one tell if a quake is an aftershock or a genuine quake?

maybe this is the wrong place for this, but those screaming HAARP right now are idiots IMO. This is a very natural, very predictable occurrence.

Issue is, with the use of internet- info is shared across the globe in seconds. No waiting for newspapers to print, letters to be mailed...so ALL of the natural movements of the earth are viewed in real time and dissected in minute detail. What seems to us, who are online as these things happen, as something new and major- isn't. Just seems that way. Shut off the computer and turn off the TV for a few weeks, and see how many earthquakes you find out about.

If I was going to scream conspiracy I would point more toward AUTEC than HAARP. However that being said, this is nothing more than an aftershock. A really bad timed aftershock to be sure.
