I believe you are right about this in some regard. This bill is not what liberals/progressives wanted. They wanted single payer...or a public option at the minimum.

Instead they got a bill mostly catered to Big Pharma and the health insurance companies.

This isn't socialized health care...It doesn't matter if you agree with socialized medicine or not...this bill is not the socialization of our healthcare.
....................

Oh please... now you are going to try to claim that the "Progressive" administration was forced by Republicans, which are a minority in Congress and the House, to make deals with big pharma?....

Socialists also need money and they make deals with those that have money.....

If Socialists were not in power then GM wouldn't have been taken over by the government in a dictatorial Socialist manner.....

Even Socialism/Communism needs money to survive...which is something Communists have come to see and which is why they are using Capitalism to keep their dictatorial rule in power....

First Republican to hold that office since 1953! 56 years of the same old thing.

Listen, I understand how a lot of you people feel when you say that there is no difference between Reps and Dems and that it's going to be the same screw job with a different face. I used to think along the same lines.
BUT ...
I honestly believe that the new class of politicians are seeking office because they are just as fed and tired of how things are going as we are. Given the downfall that our country has been going through for the last 10 years or so. Fighting two wars that don't seem to have an advantageous outcome or signs of ending any time soon. Elected officials stomping on the U.S. Constitution and impeding on our rights and privacy. Our job market and economy going in the crapper. Plus, this health care reform that is just too damn ridiculous to even believe that our government is trying to shove it down our throats.

Some people have finally decided to take a stand against what has been going on by running for office. A new breed of forward thinking people are running for local, state, and federal offices.

That's exactly why I am running for office, and why I have been trying to encourage other ATS members to run for their local offices. Whether you're Republican, Democrat, Tea Party, Independent or whatever. If you're wishing for things to get better .. Do your part and make things better. If you don't want to run for office, then support the people that are running for office that you think will make things better, regardless of party.

Disengage the "I hate politicians" autopilot thought processes and start supporting those people that are brave enough to fight the good fight for We The People.

I think we're going to be seeing a younger, more honest, constitutional driven pool of candidates that want to get this country back to where we used to be. I hope that when and if the day evers comes that I'm seeking a bigger state office or even a federal office, that there aren't people on ATS trying to pigeonhole me into that "same dick, different haircut" category.

Well bud, Mark my words, y'alls having an Messiah moment, thats my opinion...
I have seen very little policy wise; thought or change in attitudes amongst conservatives. It is a detailed observation and I doubt anyone wants to hear it, but
we shall see.

Its true, I mean Neocons like to hide and pretend they like value the Constitution and practice conservation of capital. But Neocons love money, corporations so that is at odds with constitutionality. But it is good for Neocons, they attacked the wrong country and Tanked the economy on a historic scale but have not taken a long lasting hit.
Neocons are good with the fear which is good, just hide their heads and come back pure having changed nothing.

What exactly is this progressive thingy you mention SG?

Can it have anything to do with what Beck covered in his show this evening.

It is time for the progressives to crawl back into their proper label, does anybody know what it is?

Progressive=? not liberal, not conservative

What exactly does PROGRESSIVE MEAN!

I'm glad someone agree's, i think Sarah Palin has proved its never too early, now he has the spotlight, and the republican old guard will be seeing him as a breath of fresh air, I'm still interested to see what happens with the democrats, Obama is in danger of a primary challenge i feel, especially if the republican primary field is looking strong.

I'd like to see Palin run, she has that no nonsence thing about her, but i'll be definatly keeping an eye on Scott Brown.

Impossible for her to win. The U.S. won't elect her because she is dumb. The problem is she really doesn't have a great education like from an Ivy League University, she got hers from the University of Idaho. All these presidents we get that are soooooo great (Bama, Bush, Clinton, Sr.,) they are educated. Now why would we elect someone that may be just as dumb as we are? /sarcasm just in case

yup...the people just love those congressional republicans...look at how wonderful they treated the citizens from 94 to 06. tax cuts for the wealthy, smoot-halley law done away with (seperating banks from investment corps), letting 120% house loans go through.

we just need to get rid of all democrats because they are for all those low-life poor and middle class, and THE WEALTHY NEED MORE TAX CUTS!!!

If the opti-scan machines' owners and back door programmers want it,only a landslide MIGHT prevent it.Sarah and her guys and gals would be there for the show is all. Then the handlers step in and the tele-prompters' rhetoric writers take over.Remember bush Jr's strange bulgy thing on his back? She'd need a one of those as she might not be too good at reading and talking at the same time. We'll see.Seems nice tho.

Just learned that...

Brown is pro cap-and-trade

SO CONSIDER THIS A LOSS................ especially when cap and trade NEEDS MORE SENATE VOTES...

This may be a trick...

EDIT: He may not after all, we'll have to see how he votes.

Haha LOL.............throw out the democrat only to vote in another Republican. Republicans are as much of a joke as democrats. Both are extremely corrupt and extremely tyrranical. The people's voice wasn't heard in Massachussets. And this won't change a damn thing. Partisan politics killed this country DECADES ago and is just beating a dead horse.

I can't stand democrats...........but I quit standing republicans YEARS ago as well.

There is only one TRUE republican out there and his name is Ron Paul. Until I hear politicians talking about what really matters..............militaristic foreign policy, ending the federal reserve, dismantling the CIA etc...........NO ONE matters!

Republicans demading tax cuts are some of the most hypocritical people in the world when a lot of republicans are very pro war or atleast very pro war on terror.................I love to see all the ignorant republicans who support the war on terror and our militaristic foreign policy yet demand more tax cuts. HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake the F'UP! Our taxes are so effing high because we spend $650 billion dollars a year on defense! If anything you republicans DESERVE MORE TAXES! Republicans and Democrats are two sides of the same coin these days. Both are ruining American and neither represent the heart of the America citizenry.

There always has to be one kook that says the Republicans stole every election. Wow, I guess it was just a crazy coincidence that the final vote ended up so close to polling from every polling company to run one the last 3 days. Wow, apparently, they stole election intelligently by having the final tally reflect public opinion. Oh wait, that makes no sense. Even the White House was expecting a loss. Cut off drinking the kool aid and think before speaking next time please

You calling me names is a violation on ATS and a sure sign there is merit in what I say.Note I only said the results were unverified, not stolen. But by the very same folks who have been PROVEN to have hackable machines and 'taken' the office of President for Cheney/bush Jr.
PS Brown pretty clearly won the race,by the way.She ran poorly and lost,no conspiracy at all in this. It's just not verifiable nor was it.That is a problem no matter who won if you care about a Representational Republic.

Oh boy yay!!! Up here in MA we're SO excited by Brown's victory. He told us he's going to lower our taxes and get us a bunch of jobs! Woo hoo. Of course he said that when he ran for State Rep and didn't do jack for us. But we KNOW he means it this time. It's milk and honey for the state of MA from here on out. Not to mention, he's a perfect candidate for President. He's a vapid tool and makes the perfect puppet. Goood looks, nice looking family, presents himself as 'Republican-light'. Yup, the GOP couldn't ask for a more perfect candidate.

The American People are making a statement that has been heard around the world. We are not going to stand for this government take over of our private lives. When Nov comes around all these libs voting for the socialist obama agenda are going to feel the wrath also. Great Job Brown! The dems must be scared now huh? I wonder if this win will change some of their votes. Maybe now that they see people taking a stand and making a statement obama will lose support from his fellow communists. I hope so!
