I believe you are right about this in some regard. This bill is not what liberals/progressives wanted. They wanted single payer...or a public option at the minimum.
Instead they got a bill mostly catered to Big Pharma and the health insurance companies.
This isn't socialized health care...It doesn't matter if you agree with socialized medicine or not...this bill is not the socialization of our healthcare.

Listen, I understand how a lot of you people feel when you say that there is no difference between Reps and Dems and that it's going to be the same screw job with a different face. I used to think along the same lines.
BUT ...
I honestly believe that the new class of politicians are seeking office because they are just as fed and tired of how things are going as we are. Given the downfall that our country has been going through for the last 10 years or so. Fighting two wars that don't seem to have an advantageous outcome or signs of ending any time soon. Elected officials stomping on the U.S. Constitution and impeding on our rights and privacy. Our job market and economy going in the crapper. Plus, this health care reform that is just too damn ridiculous to even believe that our government is trying to shove it down our throats.
Some people have finally decided to take a stand against what has been going on by running for office. A new breed of forward thinking people are running for local, state, and federal offices.
That's exactly why I am running for office, and why I have been trying to encourage other ATS members to run for their local offices. Whether you're Republican, Democrat, Tea Party, Independent or whatever. If you're wishing for things to get better .. Do your part and make things better. If you don't want to run for office, then support the people that are running for office that you think will make things better, regardless of party.
Disengage the "I hate politicians" autopilot thought processes and start supporting those people that are brave enough to fight the good fight for We The People.
I think we're going to be seeing a younger, more honest, constitutional driven pool of candidates that want to get this country back to where we used to be. I hope that when and if the day evers comes that I'm seeking a bigger state office or even a federal office, that there aren't people on ATS trying to pigeonhole me into that "same dick, different haircut" category.

Oh please... now you are going to try to claim that the "Progressive" administration was forced by Republicans, which are a minority in Congress and the House, to make deals with big pharma?....
Socialists also need money and they make deals with those that have money.....
If Socialists were not in power then GM wouldn't have been taken over by the government in a dictatorial Socialist manner.....
Even Socialism/Communism needs money to survive...which is something Communists have come to see and which is why they are using Capitalism to keep their dictatorial rule in power....
