Israeli trucks cross into Syria ...

World war 4.5 is upon us.
U.S. and Israeli concerns mounted after Syria reportedly supplied Hizbullah with rockets capable of brining down F-16 warplanes.
Chief of Research at the Israeli army has uncovered that Syria recently provided Hizbullah with Russian-made surface-to-air missiles type "GLA 9K338" which can bring down reconnaissance planes, helicopter gunships and advanced F-16 fighter jets, which form the backbone of the Israeli air force.
He told the Foreign and Security Committee in the Knesset that
"this dangerous development is a strategic shift in the balance of power in Lebanon."
"Israel cannot remain silent on that," he warned.
Meanwhile, Russian news agency Novosti reported that Hizbullah's possession of sophisticated Russian-made surface-to-air "Igla" type rockets will hold back the Israeli air force from destroying the projectiles Hizbullah own for fear of bringing down the attacking jet fighters.
Novosti quoted sources in Moscow as saying that these missiles are shoulder-mounted and cannot be detected by radar or obliterated by any means.
It said a General Staff exercise code-named Firestones-12 last week did not include the scenario of a war with Syria -- only a clash with Hizbullah in Lebanon and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Although originally considered, the report said, the Israeli army opted not to include an element in the exercise that required the rushing of large numbers of conscript soldiers to the north, so that the Syrians would not mistake this as an offensive.

Adding to the harsh rhetoric coming out of the nation is recent days, Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon today announced that the nation was giving the West another 4-8 weeks to attempt diplomacy with Iran, and that after that they would have to impose crippling sanctions on the nation.
Israel’s threats against Iran are not new, but the growing number of US official visits in recent days are seen as being at least in part based on fear that an Israeli attack could be in the offing.

Iran has put a tremendous amount of resources into it's proxies like Hezbollah and Hamas as well as going so far as to try to pu in a nuclear facility in Syria.
And then there's all the uncalled for provocative rhetoric and accusations.
Iran is clear;y goading and compromising Israel hoping for a strong response. The game plan was for others t join in on a regional effort retaliatory effort against Israel.
Hamas has recently conceded they can no longer administer Gaza effectively and Hezbollah is in a similar funding situation according to the Middle East press in that Iran is expecting results for their sponsorship and supplies of missiles.
Iran's Revolutionary Guard is constantly training groups to fight and there's little question who the intended enemy is.
Though Iran likes to act coy, they've been preparing for an Israeli response for a long time. But they wanted it to be against their proxies and not them directly. They know in an outright war especially with the US interceding - they're toast. They have no real air force just for starters.
Iran will try to save face, look innocent and persecuted. Bu they never know if Israel will call their bluff in this war of nerves.
Iran will try to do something to further upset Israel but in the end they do no want to risk direct confrontation.

Two Israeli tanks have crossed their technical fence near the border with Lebanon two kilometers south of the disputed Ghajar village.
The United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, also known as the UNIFIL, were present in the area along with Lebanese Armed Forces to make sure that the Israeli forces did not cross the UN demarcated Blue Line.
UNIFIL Spokesperson Neeraj Singh told Press TV no violation has occurred as the Israeli tanks did not actually cross the Blue Line.

TUNIS (AFP) - Palestinian President Mahmud Abbas lashed out at Iran on Friday, blaming Tehran for being behind the latest failure to reconcile his secular Fatah movement with its Islamist rival Hamas.
"Iran doesn't want Hamas to sign the Cairo reconciliation document," Abbas said during a meeting in the Tunisian capital.
Fatah and Hamas struggled for months to reach a unity deal under Egyptian mediation, but the efforts collapsed late last year when Hamas refused to agree to a proposal that was signed by Fatah.
Abbas said that while Hamas' leaders had initially indicated their approval of the document, they later began putting forth excuses to refuse to sign.
The Fatah leader said his goal was to "pull our people out from Iranian tutelage".
Hamas routed Fatah from the Gaza Strip in 2007 after deadly fighting, a year after winning Palestinian legislative elections.
New legislative elections were due to have been held early this year, but they have since been postponed indefinitely as Hamas refuses to allow any vote in Gaza without a unity agreement with Abbas's Fatah movement.
