Or did you want to just leave it at that. Although this is a crappy thread already, I'll respond anyway.

I read his platform, and from what I can gather, he wants to spend my money on a who number of things.

1) Universal Health Care - Otherwise known as the "I pay for your sickness with money that could have gone to MY kids" plan. We just don't need more federal programs to tack onto the misguilded ones we have.

2) Social Security - Why oh why do we keep this dead horse around. He's starting to smell something fierce. My vote is to privatize social security completely and get it out of the hands of the government, while auditing to see if the people on it deserve it. Should they deserve it, keep them on the federal program until they die. That way it'll just fizzle and die so we can all be on a better non-government controlled/forced program

3) Education - While I think education is important, I do NOT think more money right now is that solution (although people seem to think it is). We have major problems that I could not even begin to address that can not be solved with money. What we need is a more communist form of education consistant and as redtape free as possible. I'd say overhaul the system with a private and government council working together to form a better model to work from.

He says "as well as tuition-free college for millions of students." What? Tuition free college? Oh awesome, I not only have to pay for my kids college fund, but yours as well. Screw that. Only about 28% of white kids (if I remember the number right) go to college (the highest majority).



I do agree with his environmental programs and some parts of the family farm programs, but I could never vote for him (aside from the above spending programs) because he would support someone who would uphold Roe vs. Wade.

Case closed for me.

Universla health care, social security, higher funded education and tuition free colledge are great ideas! Why should the rich be able to have the basic while the poor suffer! The problem with the college system in the states, is to get a high paying job, you need to spend alot of money to go to an expensive college. Why should the rich stay rich while the poor dont get a chance. If you earn lots of money you should contribute to making less fortunate peoples lives easier. Thats the problem with conservatives, its all about the individual and nothing about helping the community... another term fot his is selfishness. if i lived in the states i'd vote for this guy.

What you fail to grasp, is that we live in a "takes money to make money" country over here. We prescribe to the idea that we are free.

On such characteristic of freedom, is the freedom to enjoy the fruits of our labor.

To share our fruits is by right our own choice, rather than being forced to share what we rightfully earned. This is not communist Russian over here (although you make it sound like that, in an utterly simplistic and overly boiled down way) where 5% are rich and the rest are poor. These programs would come from upper lower class and lower middle classes too (other wise known as those who could use the few extra bucks that would be taken from them).

Not everyone who is poor is unfortunate. But is it selfish to want to enjoy or dictate how the money you sweat to make is spent?

Should my children not live as well so anothers can have my money while they did nothing to earn it?

I think not.

Then the rich guys who run the companies fire 10000 people so they can make a few extra bucks, meanwhile these 10000 people are jobless and may then become homeless while the rich guy buys another ferrari...

I have no problem with looking after yourself first and foremost, but i feel it is really unfair to indulge while others suffer. I feel the more you earn the higher tax you pay. Bob earns 40 000 000 they fine him $100 000... that to me is fair. coz if they fine bob $100, its chump change to him... but fining him $100 000 would affect him as much as fining me $100... but you conservatives wouldnt understand that concept of fair i guess. all you guys undestand is freedom to serve oneself and not give a # about anyone else.

First off, this is the unfortunate fact of life in any economic system (even communism). At least here people have a chance to succeed. Although it may seem like this is the reason they fire loads of people, it is not always like that. The whole goal of the company is to make money, not lose it. If they can not stay afloat, then losing 10,000 jobs is better than frying the whole company and losing 400,000 jobs. I think you need to look at the big picture. Tax breaks for corporations, while I disagree with some, are needed to promote business because big businesses have the jobs that pay the salary that pay the taxes.

Perhaps it is "unfair", but is it not equally unfair to take from one who has earned and give to one that has not? Life is unfair no matter what happens, but I would rather get what I earn and choose to help people than to be forced to. That is not what America was built on, nor should it continue down the "wealth redistribution" path.

We do have tax rates here. The more you make, the higher "tax bracket" you are in. People who make under 10,500 a year actually do not have to pay income tax at all. Lower income pay 15 %, above that 21%. Wealthy people pay 35-40% in taxes (which as a percentage is a hell of a lot of money). The wealthy 1% pay more in taxes than everyone else combined.

I think you are confusing freedom with egocentrics. I would rather give to MY COMMUNITY rather than to a bloated ineffeciant federal program. I think my community, our churches (and other Philanthropic groups) and me are better equiped to assess the need in our area. Don't confuse the desire to control our own money and to give as we see the need with indifference and selfishness.

We have many many programs for people to pay for college. From government grants and loans, to private banks loans (which are plentyful and defer payment until after graduation), and loads of scholarships for all sorts of things. Maybe you are also too young to understand the way we do business over here. Maybe people who think guys like me are selfish should assess how the government of over 300 million could possibly be cost effective in any way for a social program like that which you prescribe to. The entire reason that churches (and other religious orginizations) are tax exempt (completely) is because they help and strengthen our communities and I think we should let them do their jobs while working to build strong connections rather then sending our money off to big brother who will squander 50+% of it on bull# and misappropriations.
