OK, got that cleared up, now getting back to the serious business of saving the planet. Lets attempt to use logic to convince the entity that humankind is worth saving.

Ok, I'll just go straight up about it.

I would have to say I don't think an orgy of death is the answer. It's totally against what I believe. I'd rather sacrifice myself than terminate than the whole species. I don't really care about some silly adventure if my decision would lead to extinction when there are in fact many on the planet that would rather live in harmony and balance with all inhabitants of Earth. They are the hope. They are the reason. It means it's within our capacity. Ideas can spead and are spreading. An enlightened nature is something we unlearn. I would tell the visitor that it came at a rather bad time for things are quite polarized. People are waking up if however slowly. We're going through much turmoil. I'm not sure they're ready for the tech yet. Maybe some day. Now would be too dangerous without keeping certain impulses in check externally (adult supervision). Humans are no real threat to anyone outside the planet in their current state of development. They may terminate themselves before even being able to leave the solar system rendering this test superfluous (are the testers trying to save other species and the ecosystem before such a calamity?). Concern yourself with them when they are arriving at a point where they can affect you and others in the univseral community. Assess their worthiness then.

If that doesn't make the visitor think, I'll say "fine, take me out". At least they have a chance to learn if they continue on, even if unnaturally accelerated. Wiping them out doesn't afford any window at all.

I might be more colorful and more precise in a real situation. But that's an outline and I believe it to be correct overall.

BTW, this also reminds me of My Stepmother Is an Alien. But there, they let humanity live even though it could in fact destroy the other guys. Noone had to be zapped.

A fine and noble response my friend, I was beginning to wonder if there where any hero's left in this life. I have given a lot of thought to a scenario like this just to explore my own feelings and courage. I can't help myself, I just love humanity for all it's idiosyncrasies good and bad alike. I would be very sad to leave but it would be my choice as well "in a heartbeat".

Just gone to the top of my list for first contact buddy. I'm second on the list if that's any consolation

I'm going under the assumption that everything that is conveyed is essentially truthful. Were it to come to that, I would hope that eveyone that cares about me knows it wasn't in vein, that it had purpose rather than letting them wonder why. I care about their pain too, in some way more than my own. I don't know if that would be allowed or not. Per the first sentence it's clear that cannot stop me but I am mindful. As for the rest of the world, no need to say anything. I would not be looking for credit. I'm not sure it would be wise.

Well enlighten up, I would like to assure you that being second on the list I would ensure that everyone on the planet would get to know what you had done for them. Who knows perhaps, in a few hundred years time there may even be a religion based upon your deeds.

Well this is the thing with human beings you see, they/we need to have our saviors. Some one to look up to, someone to aspire to be, something that is wholesome and good, someone to provide a moral compass for all humanity.

Someone who would give their life to save them.

Somehow I feel like I had this very conversion before in another universe, another you and another me. It's weird.

I suppose it could be a good example to set for when up against an ultimatum when you have to choose selfishly or selflessly. The last thing it would need to become is divisive and create further strife or it throws the whole purpose out the window. I certainly hope they would aspire to live, live, live! They must focus their thoughts on life, not death. The act would be to preserve life and allow love a chance to flourish. The minute anyone would starts asking themselves "What would EU do?", eschews their own connection to divine truth, and the species level of consciousness has not advanced sufficiently, it's heading into dark territory.

Now wouldn't that be the perfect mitigating argument with the alien. All I would need to do is point them in the direction of the MSM or even ATS for that matter and all of our problems would be sorted

It is sometimes difficult to know how one might react to hypothetical situations so far removed from previous experience. Faced with the situation you describe, I would want input from my heart that is difficult to conjure up without being there experiencing it.
