The Historical results of Gun Control.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Historical results of Gun Control.

Whether you agree or not, it's an interesting lesson in history.

Something to think about.....

In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953,
about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up
and exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million
Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

Germany established gun control in 1938. From 1939 to 1945, 13 million
Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and
exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million
political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000
Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000
Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million
'educated' people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and
exterminated.
---------------------------------------------

Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because
of gun control: 56 million.

It has now been over 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced
by new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their
own government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more
than $500 million dollars.

The 1st year results are now in: Australia-wide homicides are up 3.2%,
assaults are up 8.6%, armed robberies are up 44% (yes, 44%!) in the state of
Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300 percent. (Note that
while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not, so
criminals still possess their guns!) While figures over the previous 25
years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has
changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are
guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety
has decreased, after such
monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding
Australian society of guns."
---------------------------------------------

The Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.
---------------------------------------------

You won't see this data on the American evening news or hear our
governors or other politicians disseminating this information.
---------------------------------------------

Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes,
gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
---------------------------------------------

Take note my fellow Americans.....before it's too late!
---------------------------------------------

The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of
this history lesson.
---------------------------------------------

With guns, we are citizens. Without them, we are subjects.
---------------------------------------------

Switzerland, possibly the most gun-oriented society in the world, seems to be doing good with their non-interference with guns by the government policy. They also do well with the free market.

No one seems to notice this though.

An armless people are subjects, armed people are citizens.

Actually in last ten years after the gun control took place the homicide percentage in US has significantly decreased (especially in cities like NY and DC). The US govt should release some funds for non-lethal ammo research and when this ammo becomes available for public, they should that ban all lethal bulets and assault guns (also those purchased before). You'll wonder how efective it would be.

When the military and police forces of all the countries in all the world start using only non-lethal weapons then I might agree that banning all lethal weapons is a good idea. Remember, a big reason we have the right to bear arms is not only to protect ourselves from criminals but also to protect ourselves from governmental control (i.e. dictatorship). We have (had) the right to form malitias and own any weapon the government owns in order to ensure that the government would never be able to overpower the people - we've already lost that. Don't give them more power by giving us less.

You don't rally think you can protect yourself against current goverment military? With magnum against Abrams or F-16? This worked maybe ine the 18. century in the times when people could hide in the forrest and shoot the British soldiers with their musqets, but now? In the times of IR devices, air power, and armor?

^Got any stats to back that up? And just wondering, how would gun control affect murder rates...you really think the people following the rules are the ones doing the killings? Gun control only affects the people that follow the law.

What about letting people have stun guns and pepper spray. Why not make protection less lethal for those who would want that.

I don't think you actually read my post because you are proving my point exactly. I said "We have (had) the right to form malitias and own any weapon the government owns in order to ensure that the government would never be able to overpower the people - we've already lost that." Meaning - no, we clearly cannot defend ourselves against a government gone bad anymore and THAT IS A HUGE CONCERN. Why would you want to make it worse?

Consider these stats:
Subject: Gun statistics
Some Startling Statistics...
Number of physicians in the U.S.
700,000
Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year
120,000
Accidental deaths per physician
0.171
Number of gun owners in the U.S.
80,000,000
Number of accidental gun deaths per year (all age groups)
1,500
Accidental deaths per gun owner
0.0000188
Therefore, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous
than gun owners.

Just remember it is not about crime control but people control!

True this data is a couple of years old but it does reflect the results of gun control legislation.
CHICAGO, June 25 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released
today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

Crime statistics released Monday by the Federal Bureau of
Investigation (FBI) suggest strongly that tough gun control laws
do little to curb violent crime.

According to the latest FBI Uniform Crime Reports, the U.S.
murder rate jumped 3.1 percent while forcible rapes inched up
0.2 percent. Overall, the U.S. crime rate climbed 2 percent.

Interestingly enough, cities having strict gun control laws saw
their respective crime rates jump well in excess of the national
average. For example:

-- In Boston, where the state legislature recently imposed the
most oppressive gun laws in the nation, the murder rate went up a
whopping 67 percent in 2001. Likewise, the rate of forcible rapes
went up 11 percent.

-- Buffalo, NY, also saw a 67 percent increase in its murder
rate and a 30 percent increase in its forcible rape rate in 2001.
New York politicians routinely boast about having some of the
toughest state gun control laws in the country.

-- Chicago not only outpaced the national average by posting a
5 percent increase in its murder rate, but the city remains the
odds-on favorite to capture the title of "Nation's Murder Capitol."
In Chicago, it's illegal for citizens to own defensive handguns.
The city's mayor, Richie Daley, is currently on a personal crusade
to ban civilian firearm ownership nationwide. (By the way - saw on the new just last night - it is official - Chicago IS now the murder capital of the countr!)

-- While liberal Coloradoans were busy penning legislation to
clamp down on law-abiding citizens attending gun shows, Denver
saw a 40 percent increase in its murder rate.

-- Hartford, Conn., suffered a 47 percent increase in its
murder rate and a 21 percent increase in its rape rate for 2001.
The Connecticut state legislature is busy competing with
Massachusetts for the title of being the least-friendly state
to law-abiding gun owners.

-- St. Louis, Mo., prides itself as being responsible for the
defeat of a recent statewide referendum that would have allowed
law-abiding citizens to carry defensive firearms. For 2001,
St. Louis saw a 19 percent increase in its murder rate and a
7 percent jump in rapes.

On the flip side, the gun control movement has long criticized
Florida for having "lax" gun control laws -- including concealed
carry. But, unlike cities in the "gun control belt," Miami's
murder and rape rates remained stable for 2001.

"The gun control movement continues to claim that banning
civilian firearm ownership is the key to eliminating violent
crime," commented ISRA president Richard Pearson. "These latest
FBI figures refute that claim. In places where law-abiding gun
owners are severely restricted, murders and rapes went way up.
In places where law-abiding citizens are allowed to defend
themselves, murders and rapes remained relatively stable."

"The bottom line is that gun control makes raping, robbing
and murdering much easier," continued Pearson. "Therefore,
people who oppose concealed carry are, for all practical
purposes, accessories to the assault, rape, and murder of
defenseless citizens. People who propose raising FOID card
fees are essentially setting poor people up for slaughter.
People who advocate firearm "waiting periods" are leaving
battered women defenseless against abusive males. And anyone
claiming that gun control makes our streets safer is either
greatly misinformed, or just a liar."

------

The ISRA is the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful,
and responsible firearms ownership. For nearly a century,
the ISRA has represented the interests of over 1.5 million
law-abiding Illinois gun owners.

^Kinda makes you wonder what ever happened to the second amendment?

People cry bloody murder when their first amendment rights are violated...but somehow the second one just "isn't important" and "out of date with reality."

murder rates wont change to much even with gun control. If someone is going through the trouble of killing someone, im sure they can go through the trouble of buying a gun.

No they arn't. The US tries to rebuilt the country and make a demokracy. If US would simply replace Sadam with another dictator, and shoot every armed Iraqui, there would be no terorist problems for sure. Plus the US people have not RPGs.

The idea some insurgents with hand weapons could beat goverment today is just stupid. In all conflicts where the "human resistance" won these insurgents were backed by some other foreign country.

Of coursee 2nd amendment is outdated. According to 2nd amendment also psychopats have right to own weapons. Constitution is not a bible, it can be changed (as many times)It had a it's purpose in 18. and 1st half of 19. century, when the settlers needed to protect themselves against indians etc.

Some people think you need weapons to have demokratic gov. But there are many countries with demokratic goverments with VERY strict weapon control.
