i remember hearing and seeing a video on this a while back. Nothing realy to get excited about just yet. It pritty much is just an avater on screen that moves when you do, but in a glitchy way. Wouldnt be able to use this within games for a wile, well, decent games for a long long while.

I dont know. Seems unnecessary. Back to Nintendo's U-Force and Power Glove experiments through to Sega's "Activator" and even now with the Wii and it's relative popularity the industry hasnt been able to break past the "gimmick" barrier. I know quite a few people with Wii's and after the initial "wow, this neat" wore off they all just went the route of playing the typical way with their controllers in hand and butts seated.

I, for one, couldnt imagine walking/jogging in place to move forward as if I were in grade school gym class.

Can't wait for all the fat kids to start having heart attacks though. That'll be fun.

I should add that people dont have to wait to try this out. TrackIR and SmartNav are essentially the same thing and have been in use for a while. TrackIR is pretty cool with certain games but turning your head and keeping your eyes straight is not only weird but defeats the whole sensation the system is trying to create.

Don't get too excited guys. From what's been shown already, the input lag with natal will only kill your gaming enjoyment. Also, it's not going to be a new console, but a revised 360 with this feature built in. According to earlier reports the natal add on will also be available seperately for current 360 machines.

Think eyetoy 2.0. That's what this is. To the guy who mentioned call of duty, prepare to be owned online if you ever try playing it with something like this.

Not saying it is vaporware as way back in the days of the Atari 2600 I said one day video games would be like this but it just reminds of this short clip.

Apologies to those offended.

You're not playing it with a motion sensor. You will be owned when you try it with natal.

EDIT: and what happened to the days when you could consider yourself good if you could make it into the top 100 or top 50 in a game? 125,000 eh?

Awesome

It is a great and interesting idea,
HOWEVER....

We will have to wait to see if it works as promised.

Remember, we were supposed to have computers you can talk to as opposed to typing.

It was promised with win 98, 98SE,2000,xp,vista.... and no one has ever put out a good, well working version.

I suspect, this technology will require several years to "get right", if ever.

Yeah Natal isn't a new gaming system. It's a new Wii type controller for the Xbox 360. I think it's a test run of the new technology. I don't expect the next COD game to use it.

well back in the days when top 100 or top 50 was good, you didnt have 4 million people playing that game

There have been rumours that they would integrate it into a system. An xbox 360 revision 2 if you like. It'll probably happen.

Sounds Gimmicky!

I love my XBox 360... but not as much as I hate the red ring of death! I hope they get their sh*t correct this time... which I doubt because they still produce consoles with the same inherent problem. Such is the mindset of Microsoft!

Pardon me if I feel no excitement whatsoever!

IRM :shk:
