I think that you may be missing the point. No one is saying that these celebrities "came back from the dead". They are posting their experiences where they are certain that they heard that someone had passed, either on the news, in print, on radio, etc... But find out later that these people they believed were passed on, are alive.

Could some of them be caused by hoaxes? Yes.

Shoddy reporting? Yes.

Confusing one person with another? Yes.

But that doesn't explain all of them.

I for one have a very strong memory of a celebrity death that apparently did not happen. I was in a waiting room many years ago and picked up a People magazine to browse through. I didn't recognize the person on the cover that they were memorializing. I flipped to the article to see if I may have seen something that they starred in. I read the ENTIRE article and was actually sad over this person's death because of the strong reactions of their family members as quoted in the magazine.

I "knew" that this person had died.

But they didn't. They are still alive to this day.

I cannot explain this. I hadn't heard of this celebrity until I read that article. So, maybe I dreamed about reading about someone dying that I had never heard of...I doubt it.

I don't believe in a lot of the far fetched stuff that is posted on this forum. I even pick on my husband for frequenting this site.

But I know what I experienced. And you can bash me all you want, because you will not change what I experienced.

I would love to hear a reasonable explanation for what happened. I would love to erase the whole thing from my mind, because it represents one of those little nagging examples of how everything is not black and white.

I'm not missing the point, I was just saying that because people were saying that some people were "definitely dead" and now they're not.

I know people are suggesting other even more ridiciulous ideas, like alternate realities...

at least SOME people that have been pronounced dead have actually, in fact not been dead...

So far there's been NO PROOF AT ALL that any possible alternate realities are leaking into ours... instead there's been a lot of talk about how people saw something on telly that turned out to be wrong... big surprise that.

Again, the arguement that there's too much of this nonsense for it all to be false is a known logical falacy.

Lots of idiots believing nonsense doesn't make it true.

How many people believe Obama is Kenyan, or the anti-christ... neither of those are even vaguely true, but by your "groups = truth" logic they would be.

Most people believe that AQ was behind 9/11... does that mean all you Inside Jobbers are wrong?

Well, does it?

That argument doesn't float.

Reality is based on fact, not silly unprovable, completely illogical conjecture...especially when the conjecture starts with, "I saw on FOX News...".

It could also be bad reports. It´s all the time on internet, newspapers etc.
I think, you really heard or read it...but it was not the truth they told you.
Only my opinion.
To dream of a dead is another thing. Is here any post about this?
Iam new here..I haven´t found something about dreams and stuff.
Sorry for bothering..

Just to add to this madness of mind!

Here's a weird one, I was driving home from work at night time (same route as always), it's a 2 lane road that goes on a pretty straight line for 20 min. I was chatting with my buddy on the phone... something happens, a glitch as if I forgot what I was talking about and me and him both paused for few seconds, then I realized I'm driving the opposite direction and was almost back at work... here's what makes this really weird, I pulled over and told my buddy... "WTF, somehow I'm going the opposite direction" and he says "What just happened!! I said I don't know but I was missing over an hour", it even gets weirder, from the time I left the building it was only 10 minutes, there is no way to do a U for at least half hour (train track between the coming direction), so even if I somehow magically turn around, what happened to my other 40 minutes??? I know I didn't talk for ONE hour (neither did he, maybe 10 minutes tops) and what was I doing within the remaining 40 minutes?!

I've been having lot of weird events happening to me in regards to "time"! I've noticed recently that time has sped up, and occasionally it slows down where every seconds feels like hours. In fact the more aware I am on time (feeling of it, rather then the number showing on the clock") the more my girl friend notices that when in certain mood... time speeds up for both of us, where otherwise slow, as if our perception controls the speed of time!

I think one of the things about proof is, is that there is hardly any proof for anything these days, and any "proof" can be contradicted by someone else's "proof" and a cycle begins...

The truth is no legitimate proof of alternate realities exists (to my knowledge) but is there definite proof that they don't exist? Nope.

So everything is a matter of faith and personal opinion. Most people who believe in alternate realities don't just automatically think that. Weird, weird, # has to happen to most people before they conclude something like that.

But, what's the point of arguing anyway? When was the last time you saw someone "win" an argument? You can't convince people to believe in something they don't, stuff just has to happen to them on their own, after all most personal and political opinions are based on stuff that has happened to you or people you know, or how you were raised.

Bottom line is either the media sucks or the universe as we know it could be on some strange path to melding together with another universe [or something] or maybe even both.

Either way I think we can all agree there is SOMETHING to be fixed.

What you describe might actually be what one would experience if one where the target of the time change. Maybe someone altered an event to save your life!

That reminds me, I remember seeing on 'The Colbert Report' something about that Swedish particle collider that was supposed to recreate the Big Bang, something like the machine kept malfunctioning and the people couldn't figure out why, and eventually most of them started thinking it was people from the future going back in time to stop them from using it, because maybe it would have led to our demise.

I could be completely wrong here, but I do remember hearing it lol.

Nope. I watched a part of the hand over of the ministry to his son on TV after his death. Not his wifes death. She was there, on the stage.

I talked to my husband about it, because his family is into all that evangelical nonsense, and I had some questions about it.

Then the guy was back again.

Not his wife. Him. Big Frackin' Deal of a ministry hand off and funeral and all that.

I also remember Goodall being dead. and no, it was not some associate. I was a child, and it was a big deal too.

Then she was back, and someone else had died. But literally YEARS passed before she was back. I still find it a bit frustrating. There was a TV MOVIE about her being killed for gods' sakes.

You may be on to something.

ATS would be a good place to test this. Most of us live nowhere near each other, and therefore we would have a broad base of local areas for the evening news to test this out. Start a thread called celebrity deaths, and update it only once for each death. Then if we do get a anomaly, it should be easily verified.

Include major politicians, scientists or anyone else that might be internationally known.

Just a thought.

Interesting story , did You check the length of your phone conversation ? I mean if you were still on the phone with Your friend after the time glitch then there is a big chance that Your phone will show the extra minutes on the call history .

As someone wisley pointed out on the last thread on this silly subject, HOW COME THIS ONLY HAPPENS WITH CELEBRITIES?
Has your great Uncle that died in 1985 suddenly showed up? Your pet hamster back from the grave. That kid that got killed in high school? Your grandma back?
Time travel, time line, ha ha ha ha ha!

It doesn't. But as a shared cultural marker, it is one of the only things that might be noticed by more than one person. I have examples that are not "celebrity" but they won't mean anything to you.

That's why.

Some of it will be people confabulating some people and event. And others are something else.

For example - I've seen the Mount Saint Helen's eruption date change three times now. It is back to when I "remember" it happening, which is 1980. However, after an argument with someone a couple of years ago I looked it up because the person claimed it happened several years later and I was sure they were wrong. When I looked it up, they were right - it happened in 1984. And now when I look it up again, we are back to 1980. Previously, my parents had brought back ornaments for my siblings and I made from the glass of the eruption. At that time the eruption happened in 1982.

Not a celebrity. I have fact checked this event dozens of times now. You'd think that a volcano erupting would be a fairly stable non-celebrity event. I haven't yet found it to NOT have erupted though.

How about this.

I have no idea why. But I know what I saw, and it wasn't some minor blip of a factoid mistake retracted the next day.

Your explanation is that everyone is idiots.

Okay.

Mine is that I HAVE fact checked. Am I capable of confabulation? Absolutely. Am I also capable of remembering things accurately? I am.

My explanation is - I don't have one. I could advance a couple of possible concepts - but I really don't know.

I am however, not an idiot. I am capable of admitting when I've made a mistake, or mistaken something. I have no ego in it - I have no skin in the game.

I am not mistaken. What I remember is what I remember happening and it was not mistaken identity, and I have fact checked. Facts seem to change.

Wish I could explain it.

You thinking everyone is stupid won't make me realize that what I saw was something I did not.

Well... if the timeline changed then the date on your vial of dust would have changed too.

Another timeline change- I was watching some Pledge drive thing on PBS (Yeah I know boring!) It was about the big band era and I was surprised to see that one of the co hosts of the program was none other than PETER MARSHALL! of Hollywood Squares fame! I could have sworn he died YEARS ago. In fact thats why they had to come out with the new version of Hollywood Squares with Tom Bergeron as the host.
