This is really getting out of hand. CNN is on top of this one. They just
reported no word yet on casualties.

The trouble is that these darn papers just get everyone wound up. Taiwan has had 4 at this level in that past year. It is not majorly unusual for the area and they get quite a few jolts in the year that are only slightly smaller. The only concern is obviously habitation close to it, but this is mountain so the ground should be steadier.

To put it in perspective Haiti was 11 times bigger and Chile was 3981 times bigger.

Okay, so revision what I was typing as you folks were posting to on our latest quake - I don't like this - wait I said that earlier. Can I stress that!!! This quake is even more troublesome - not north or south, we now have a ping pong effect.

Now were was I -

Puterman, you know I love graphs. If it's not to much trouble, could you post a combination graph showing from say Jan. 1 to date with the prelimary information you have on the Chile quakes. I think it would be a better visual for the folks being the area has always been very active.

p.s. Although I review and correct errors on land survey maps daily, I have never plotted a map such as Robin is chomping at the bit for. I am not sure if you are working on it or if you are to busy but, if you are to busy and not working on it, if you direct me to a program and the page # for what he is wanting (as I ran into complications with my computer and 5 1/2 feet of snow and have been unable to install firefox with the add ons and google etc.) I would try and attempt it to try and keep him calm & happy.

Was it Chile you were wanting, or Taiwan?

Re Robin's map, no I have not started mainly because i can find no data on these caldera as the regular geologists do not seem to think this happened.

Hi Anmarie96, His request is on page 581 of the Yellowstone thread and there are references to Hudson's Bay on the following pages: 367, 392, 409, 414, 442, 444, 447, 450, 474 (his theory), 578.

Here is Taiwan as I had done that one already. I will do Chile, although I thought I had.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/2c2311c98c07.png[/atsimg]

Chile from 01/01/2020. Note the power trend is back to 5 after the last few jolts.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/b426902f96ef.png[/atsimg]

I have really refined this area right down so it only takes in the current problem area. There are only 12 quakes in that area last year.

Another reference to support the "end of the world" idea:
Isaiah 24:20
The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again.

Thanks for that, I was hoping for prior and after 8.8 aka 8.3 quake - to show before and after in one graph. :-)

(p.s. know it is his theory)

also,

THEY have taken away some of the data on New Madrid - where did it go??

Here is today at Long Valley before it goes away too

Update time = Thu Mar 4 2:00:02 UTC 2010

Here are the earthquakes in the Map Centered at 37°N, 119°W area, most recent at the top.

Not so good if this is a 6.1

Getting late here - I'm away to the land of nod.

That 6.1 is EXACTLY on the epicentre of the 1985

The 1985 Santiago earthquake was a seismic movement registered on 3 March 1985 at 22:47 UTC (19:47 local time). Its epicenter was located on the south coasts of Valparaíso Region, Chile, close to the beaches of Algarrobo. It had a magnitude of 8.0 on the Richter magnitude scale.

I think the source is Wikipedia.

Um, it is. That was what I was saying. If the area is refined right down there is virtually nothing for the preceding year, and nothing in January at all.
