Thought I would see how this comes out.
NZ's Geonet doesn't do a very good map off their search page, so I converted the data to something clearer where you can see whats going on.
I did some charts too (inspired by PuterMan
) but can't post them yet as my laptop doesn't have screenshot capabilities off Excel files, I'll
have to go to my Desktop ....... after breakfast

edi: I only did 3.0 + as there are too many > 3.0, makes the maps too cluttered, and also there is less chance the magnitudes will change much when
the data is updated over the next few weeks by the scientists. Usually there are about 10-25 quakes per day of all magnitudes which are preliminary,
then a few weeks later the figure jumps to 50-60 per day as more lower magnitudes come in.
3.0+ is just that, not 2.999+
