Yes, at least 300 dead so far

A series of strong earthquakes have struck China's western Qinghai province, toppling houses, killing at least 300 people and burying many others in a mountainous rural area, officials and state media said. The US Geological Survey reported on its website that a magnitude 6.9 temblor struck an area in southern Qinghai, near Tibet, on Wednesday morning (local time) and was followed by three quakes in the same area.

There are some other threads currently running on ATS discussing whether the number of quakes has increased lately. i.e: www.abovetopsecret.com...

For USGS's data you can look here - they giving a running total of this year's quakes with historical data, too.

Regarding the questioning on why bother posting 4's or less here, well we all have our reasons for watching.
One of mine is that I work in construction, and right now I am working down a trench (waterproofing a retaining wall) 12ft down and 3ft wide, I want to know hats is happening in our neighbourhood quake wise, even if it is just 2's a few kilometrers away, 4's within a 100km or 7's out Kermadecs, they all destabalize the ground, and the last thing I want is a trench collapse.
I've worked on roof framing a few times when quakes hit whooo what a ride

Keeping a close eye on those Hikurangi Trench quakes, looks like a swarm, all about the same size, so not much risk of a bigger one right now ( based on history of the area) . A couple of them were where the 6.8 of Dec 2008 hit, shook Gisborne quite a bit, could be aftershocks?
but most of this series are about 30km to the north.

BBC news is reporting that the 6.9 quake in China has possibly cracked the Three Gorges Dam. This is BIG news if that dam breaks folks, millions will die.

ok, edit

Many people have fled to the surrounding mountains, amid fears that a nearby dam could burst.
State media reported that officials were trying to drain a reservoir after a crack appeared in the dam.

news.bbc.co.uk...

It does not state which dam. I think if it was 3 Gorges they would say

I read that "people were fleeing" because they feared it might break (on BBC news.bbc.co.uk... ) - is this on their radio/tv (can't find on their news site
