Could Aliens be influencing Hollywood?

Yesterday I went and saw Avatar, and a couple days earlier I watched District 9. After watching both movies, which I thought were both great, I was suddenly struck by something:

If I were in charge of Alien Public Relations, those two movies would be exactly what I would have produced! After watching them both I really came to see humanity as an ugly, barbaric, fear-ladened, money-grubbing, harsh, unenlightened bunch of thugs... and I think that is exactly what I was supposed to feel.

In District 9 humanity was the host of an alien group, and what did we do? Well, we shuffled them into a terrible slum, and treated them like animals... not unlike what we have done to many of our own kind throughout the centuries.

In Avatar humanity was the guest of an alien world, and what did we do? Well, we raped and pillaged their land, disrespecting them completely, and always looking for the way to profit from them, even while pretending to actually like them or wanting to learn from them... not unlike what we have done to many of our own kind throughout the centuries.

I have noticed that these two movies, released back-to-back, take a very different tack from all other alien movies produced, at least as far as I could think of. If I were in charge of Alien Public Relations, and I knew that disclosure would not happen until mankind had learned to be less barbaric, I would want to make movies that portray just how bad the humans really are, as compared to the good intentions of us aliens.

My question is this: why would TWO movies, each tacking this very different track, be produced and released now? I mean, Avatar was the most expensive movie ever made, and this masterpiece does wonders at showing just what a bunch of scumbags we really are. Is this just an elaborate piece of self-examination and self-loathing, or is there something bigger going on?

How can we find out more?

I think the truth is that planet earth is the literally hell, from the bible. So guess who runs this planet?

Do you need any more clues?

So God created Hell and then sent his son Jesus Christ there to die?

Yes, I do agree that Satan is working hard to keep this place and this people locked in his way of doing things, but that does not preclude alien involvement somehow. I just found it strange how so much money was spent on exposing the nasty way that humans can be. At least it's honest. In the not so distant past, movies were always sugar-coating the misdeeds of humanity, which is why I thought this new trend of "human bashing" might have some deeper explanation. Remember, Satan would not make movies like this, but would instead promote the type of movie that makes us glorify our own ugliness. He loves to applaud us when we do wrong.

Well, if aliens were running Hollyweird, that kills the theory that they are smarter than us.

Based on the crap that's coming out of that place, they have to be some of the dumbest beings out there. Does this movie ring any freakin' bells?

I really don't want this thread turning into religious discourse. This is posted under the alien forum, so can we please keep it centered in that direction. It's just way to easy to blame every ill on the devil, and I'm not willing to do that... sorry.

No, not that they are RUNNING Hollywood, but rather that they are influencing it, particularly in regard to the two recent movies Avatar and District 9.

I think its part of a bigger plan, lol.

Who are the aliens, and i am not sure, aliens is what we percieve them to be by what we have been told.

Tv is great at conditioning us, and we all believe an awful lot we where told on the tube. So who knows.

Personally i think things like hollywood and the music industry is run by something higher and these people purposely open themselves to it.

Who knows what those forces truely are?

So what about the new direction in these alien genre movies? Am I the only one to sees the connection here? Two movies, both showing humans persecuting aliens, one where we are the "host", and the other where we are the "guests."

Even here on ATS you see District 9 plastered all over the pages. These movies are meant to make a big impact. Why do you think Avatar is being shown in regular, 3-D, and even Imax? What other movie has had that kind of treatment?

About as mind-blowing as a fetus driving a car?
Hardly! Fact is, there are more humans on this planet that believe in God/Devil/Aliens than the people who don't believe in at least one of those things. If you are one who doesn't believe in any of them, you are definitely in the minority.

My point in this thread was to propose a question, not to debate whether these things exist or not. Something is driving the shift in Hollywood approach. They don't switch unless there is a very good reason, since that involves RISK, and they try to avoid risk in a big way, unless the movie is intended to lose money, which many are. Certainly, you must realize that not every movie is meant to be a winner, but rather it is meant to be a tax-vehicle for declaring a loss against income made in other businesses.

Thank you for those links. And regarding discussing religion in this post, I have no problem discussing that topic with anyone, especially with people who's views are different. I was just very interested in hearing what people thought about this change in direction with these two huge movies, and if we go down the religion path, it may never recover. It's very easy to let conversations stray on tangents, but if that is how forums are to work, I don't think we'd have such things as forum topics, etc. I just want the thread to be consistent with the thread title, that's all.

So you think this new "anti-human" trend is being done by black Ops? What makes you think that? Do you disbelieve in alien involvement with earth?

District 9 - based on the displacement of locals in South Africa. Aliens are used to make it a more palatable metaphor but ask the writer if he was influenced by aliens or racist South Africans.

Avatar - has a very very long history so aliens have been working on that one for so long that they let two Ace Ventura movies get released. It is about very Earth-bound ideals of waging war on indigenous peoples in order to take over their land/resources.

Both movies are based on real life MAN against MAN issues that plague our real life planet. I think people on ATS need to read a little less David Icke and little more of the fiction that is in the fiction section. Not only will you see that humans have and have had an amazing capacity to imagine, they also have a hard time telling each other just how ugly they really are without presenting it as some fantastic fable.

I hope this does not kill any alien related fantasy but these two films are just that, films. Ever see "Alien Nation?" That was the exact same idea. It used aliens to show us how intolerant we are towards each other. That or Aliens have been in hollywood for decades working on a small handful of movies to get them good PR? They can master intergalactic flight but takes them 20 years to write a couple films about how nice aliens are?

I wish the premise was true but unfortunately, humans can be vile creatures who abhor mirrors.

Well I definately think that self-loathing is crucial in convincing people to give up their individual rights and freedoms. It seems that most western media, not just hollywood, is hellbent on making everyone feel like crap. When constantly second guessing one's own motives, it becomes much easier to just hold big brother's hand because he knows what's best.....type thing.
The average joe is being blamed for things that he didn't stop, yet was not was responsible for, or even aware of. And while we're told to blame ourselves, the elitist culprits are continuing on their merry way.

Neill Blomkamp is on twitter, just ask him if any aliens contacted him or influenced him while he was making District 9.

This was the whole reason for this thread. I was not saying the premise IS true, but rather asking for it to be considered. If you don't believe that any aliens exist on this world, then I would think you might be in the minority on this site, at least from what I've seen here so far.

I know exactly how Hollywood works. My family is actually very involved with making big movies in Hollywood, and I myself am involved to a lesser degree down here in New Zealand.

Avatar actually was remarkably similar to the story of New Zealand, and as a dead giveaway, the two main characters actually did a Maori Hongi: they put their foreheads and noses together while breathing in.

The interesting part about the Maori/Pakeha(non-Maori) story is that unlike the end result of most other indigenous peoples, the Maori successfully held the British forces back and secured a better position than other groups (like the American Indian) did. Though they would disagree, I can tell you that they have far more influence and effect here in NZ than the Indians do in the USA.
