Many years ago, I was so innocent I still considered it possible that we could become the humane and reasonable America so many members of my generation used to dream of. We dreamed of such an America during the Great Depression, when there were no jobs. And then we fought and often died for that dream during the Second World War, when there was no peace.

But I know now that there is not a chance in hell of Americas becoming humane and reasonable. Because power corrupts us, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Human beings are chimpanzees who get crazy drunk on power. By saying that our leaders are power-drunk chimpanzees, am I in danger of wrecking the morale of our soldiers fighting and dying in the Middle East? Their morale, like so many bodies, is already shot to pieces. They are being treated, as I never was, like toys a rich kid got for Christmas.

Kurt speaks the truth. Why do so many people fail to see what some see so clearly?

Kurt Vonnegut is a National Treasure!

Going cold turkey on fossil fuels is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Our collective unconcious knows that the end for our species is upon the horrizon.

Sorry, let's all hold hands and sing Koom by ya.

It's funny, but I was watching Frontline last night (The Jesus Factor), and it dawned on me that most of the same people who put down hippies, "liberals", or anyone who speaks of peace, are the same "god fearing christains" that praise Jesus. Strangely enough, these people seem to have no idea that Jesus' philosophy, for the most part, is basically that of the hippies. If you haven't seen "The Jesus Factor", it's about Bush and his evangelical ways. It's funny how a self proclaimed man of god can wage war so easily, isn't it?
