Top ranking posters list??

Could and Would ATS provide top posters list, i think it would be very interesting to see who has the most input on this wonderful site!

i especially would like to see if the top posters threads were the most available as i have feeling they will be, i feel that the bigger the contributer you are to this site then the more chance your thread will be read, maybe i am wrong but any thread i have ever posted has had short to no response, now that may be due to subject matter but i just as anyone who has already checked out my threads knows that i only post what i feel is important! i feel that top posters get, if you could say this without offending this site, more air time!!!!

While competition usually creates quality. I feel that having a top poster list would create an unnecessary distraction from what this site is about. Perhaps a couple more bits of posting history on our avatars. (Stars and flags etc)...

But its so subjective, you'd never have an agreement and all that would ensue is argument.

Well I havent been on in a few months... But of the new features Ive seen, the star count is probably your best bet to determine quality. The post count I think is highly misleading.

If the star count could some how be shown aside from just in a profile, that'd be nice.

On our member pages, there is a color-coded doo-hickey thingy that is more or less a rating thing. If you go to my profile for instance, under my avatar, you'll see that I have a blue thing that says "solid content contributer". This rating is based on the number of posts someone has. If one gets enough applauses there is a little phrase that goes under that that says something like "this is a critical mind" or "godlike wisdom".

Earlier, when I first joined the site, we had bars on our "mini" profile. (The profile under our avatar on posts). They were more or less a mystery so it was changed to the current system except that it could be seen in the bars place. Some members couldn't handle that (for various reasons) and it was relegated to the detailed profile page.

The Flag Contribution Level indirectly shows the amount of flags a person receives. As your pass each threshold, you get a little bit more blue. It kinda is misleading though as I can post a "Barack Obama New Kenyan Birth Certificate PROOF!!!!!!11" thread and get hundreds of flags. Misleading because, it doesn't really tell you of the quality of the threads that a person starts. It also only takes into account threads started as opposed to posts in general; some people don't start threads, but they post a lot.

But of the new features Ive seen, the star count is probably your best bet to determine quality

Earlier, this may have been true, but it's not really the case anymore. It's like the previous example, I could make a post "proving" the Barack Obama is a reptilian, shape-shifting, Kenyan born woman and I'd getting a ton of stars.

The best way to determine quality is probably to just judge a posters posts yourself.

Take a look at the content.
You will find some very prolific writers on this site.
Some of their threads took off and went wild.
While other threads they wrote got barely a head turn.

Though a few here will always get attention no matter what they write.

Hi there,

There is already a ranking-by-post list available on ATS.

Go here > www.abovetopsecret.com... (or alternatively 'members tools' > 'members list'). Then on the members list page, go to 'sort by' then 'Post Number'.

There you will find the members with the highest post total.

I reckon, Phage is the most anticipated poster. As everyone it seems including myself (not being a sycophant) here are keen to see his input into most threads that claim this or that to be true. I see that he posts with a good deal of understanding through analysis and looking up data on the facts.

Second Line.

Popularity contests can be found on BTS. I don't feel you can judge stars flags or even the number of posts for how "good" a person is with their posting on this site.

The quality is in the eye of the beholder. I have people that are on my foes list but I like to see what they write because of how well spoken they can be and how much effort goes into their posts. I still don't agree with them most the times but that doesn't mean they don't provide great content.

This is a good lesson in life for you also, don't worry so much about what others do or think, worry about what you find important and what you can bring to the table instead.

i disagree, many folks here including myself, have made the front page within a day or so of gettin past the 20post requirement.

LOL, why it is true, esspeically one member in particular (while deserved it is extremely ridiculous IMHO some of the idolization, but that is what happens,)

Anyways there are ,MANY MORE top, better contributers that many a member look up to (which kinda' gets odd at times, being somewhat of an "ATS Celeberity")....Anyway, check out this thread, it contains a GREAT list from some very respected members listing their top members....
