What is wrong with the ATS membership right now ? !!

It is because it appears that 90% of the posters are teenagers, nothing wrong with them, was there at one time and barely made it out if I had to deal with all of the crap in the world they do at that age I may not have made it out.

I know some that age with more intellect and common sense, but what I see here is many with a computer and a forum to flake out on

let the begin.

BRING OUR TROOPS AND JOBS BACK HOME.

That is the fix to the whole economy meltdown.

What's going on.... I'm confused...

I highly encourage everyone when they have a little spare time to go to "member tools" > "member list" and read trough some of the history of ATS as it has unfolded through the years by checking on threads from its inception.

This sort of frustration as expressed by the OP has been around for as long as the site itself ... it's really part and parcel of the id of this and many other UGC communities.

Many find it useful and healthy to take periodic breaks when things get a little to polemic for them ... not me though, I have nowhere else to go and no one else will have me.

Alternatively one could look within and realize that this frustration is elective and can be dissolved if one changes their attitude towards those who disagree with them, but that's a whole bunch of no fun filled self realization work that quite frankly is a pain in the bottom ... and that's why we have TV.

It's because I'm sick to death of these threads. I still don't understand how they get so much attention.

Is it really a conspiracy? I don't think so.

Every week for the last two months or so there have been one, sometimes two of these threads. It's getting beyond a joke. So, yes, I do feel the need to spend a couple of minutes of my time to point this out.

It's funny that your time frame for this increase in 'aggressive' or 'negative' posts (personally I don't see it) fits in with this recent trend of pointless threads.

"Everyone is being nasty!!"
"What has happened to ATS????"

And now, "What is wrong with the ATS membership right now ? !!"

Personally, I don't mind the threads about being an alien or having a fist fight with an alien or being a reptilian hybrid from Venus, they can be entertaining. At least they are, most of the time, placed in the correct area, either My Story or Skunk Works, so you should know what to expect when you click the title.

However threads like this just take precious time away from those threads that are actually full of interesting facts and opinions. Not to mention the negativity that is shoveled out in them.

Blaming individuals and groups like teenagers for instance is ridiculous. You should be thankful that they are here at all instead of being glued to their PS3's and having no interest in the important topics ATS has to offer.

The fact that you were expecting a 'predictable' response like this should have told you something about the thread itself.

Stop the trend. It serves no purpose. Go check out the important threads ATS has to offer.

Don't get upset when someone disagrees with you, get "proof." I am skeptic of everything until I see it, and touch it in most cases,however, I am not going to call names and bully people because they may believe that their dog is an alien. We are all welcome to our opinions, there is no need to be dis-respectful and rude to someone who doesn't believe what you do.

Always be above rudness and dis-respect, this shows character and a level of maturity that is hard to find on the internet. You will always have members and mods of a website who are rude and abuse their privledges, this is common because in most cases it's the only kind of power they will ever have in real life (hiding behind a monitor and being rude, with no real consequences) with that being said, if you show me something that is strange, I will tell you it's strange, just like these spirals we been seeing in the sky, I don't believe they are just failed missle test, and have stated so.

I was here, home in Scotland. I have no interest in the presidential elections, but yea, I agree there was some interesting debates.

I think whats going on is ATS has become much more popular recently and so many different people are coming here. I must admit Ive noticed an increasing amount of nasty and arrogant comments whilst people try force their opinions onto others. The question is, if ATS is getting a lot more popular then is this a sign that masses of people are waking up?
Many of the nasty comments Ive seen recently have come from MMGW believers. If anyone disagrees with them then they are in for a rough ride of patronizing insults and ridicule.

My advice Captiva is to "Man-Up" a little bit.

Are posts harming "your" digital identity. It's a freaking forum my man. If these tones were used against you in person I could see the need for the rant, but I'm guessing the "mean,mean" posters you are referring to are only opinionated and tough behind a keyboard.

There's far too much to worry about rather than being bogged down by a poster not of your particular flavor.

Read, post, reply but just don't whine. It's not very becomming.

Well, I've visited umteen forums even before there were any forums and I find that the best approach is to put in your 2 cents as a service to humanity and move on. It's usually a wast of time to banty back and forth and often the so called thinkers are only contriving rationals to support the way they feel and their desperate need for image and identity. For me, the reason to post on the forum is not to appease the ignorant or give status to the pseudo intellectual it's to put truth, as I see it, out there so that degradation is kept to a minimum and some wise souls can be pointed in a helpful direction.

Captiva, Thank you. Yes the responses as of late have left me feeling very *under*whelmed. I expect thought provoking responses. Instead I see a lot of, prove to me that you have the proof, otherwise I will not come up with my own original thoughts unless you prove it.

I'm beginning to realize the patterns in the posts. I don't think the patterns are a coincidence, and I believe ATS is loosing some good people as they stray to other boards. I am in now that group.

You miss-understand my OP if you think I am whining. I am more than able to deal with any abuse if coming my way. No, my Op was based on the fact that I see more abusive replies in threads. This leads me to the following questions, is the membership changing?, are the mods being less stringent, or is it reasonable for me to associate the rudeness, trolling and derailing as a sign that we here on ATS are hitting the mark with our investigations, outcomes and ideas.

i just wanted to say that im new to ATS yesterday..but i am not one of these people. i may be younger than some of the people on here but i enjoy an intelligent conversation..and a good debate

i hope the people being rude just stop. its immature and not needed! overall i think this is my new favorite site. thank god there are some people in this world who believe in some of the same things as i do.

I can't believe people like you. Russia admitted it was their missile. We saw the video of the actual missile spinning out of control, we also have numerous other high ranking scientists and officials admitting it was a missile. Engineers and other scientists explained all the phenomenon involved yet you remain content that it was some alien wormhole thing. It's absolutely hilarious and the very definition of ignorance.

Well I can certainly appreciate your comments.

It just seems you may have a problem with posters offering a different view than yours. Perhaps your statements are more of the general variety, but it has a slight aroma of being a little more personal.

These threads constantly pop up but I think the reason there are so many debunkers is because that is the mind set of the majority of society.

It is much easier to hold onto beliefs accepted by the majority, hold those beliefs over others in an overt or subversive act of superiority than it is to theorize and challenge ones own perceptions of reality.
