Hello all,

I haven't posted for a while because I have been catching up on other threads of significant interest.

So I have a question, maybe someone from ABC can confirm. Why has there only been four episodes of the new V series? I was enthralled watching it each week and was waiting for the 5th episode to be aired. When it wasn't I checked out the ABC website and they just say new episodes at the end of March 2010!!

Is this normal to have a short pilot series even though the show is a remake from the 1970s?

Episode guide for V 2009

Now, I don't want to presume anything is wrong with this, but why wait until March 2010, why only have 4 episodes. Was this a result of the writers dispute last year? Does it take 4 months to make new episodes? Why was there a big hype about disclosure and then the new V series comes out. Is ABC pre-warning us of an invasion or disclosure and using the 4 episodes to prepare us all?

I'd just like some of your feedback on this, to help me see the common sense from the conspiracy thoughts I have.

Kindest regards,
E.T

My only explanation is that it's an extended pilot. If the ratings were low, then they ABC have an option to pull out.

You mentioned "your conspiracy thoughts" on this matter.. Not sure why you haven't shared those.

I'd also like to add that Erica's character is also on LOST as Juliette. Perhaps scheduling conflicts.

Being a remake there was a pretty good chance it was going to bomb immediately. Though the original is a cult favorite of sorts it wasnt exactly a hit when it aired.

Then there's the Firefly cast involved. They're cursed.

I've watched all 4 and loved it so far. I'll be rather annoyed if they pull out and can the series now.

IIRC it was pretty much known from the beginning that 4 episodes would be aired in 2009 and the rest starts in feb. 2010.

I love Firefly, and the movie Serenity, but you do have a good point. Just about everything I have seen a Firefly cast star in has been canned. Prime example, the lovely Jewel Staite and Stargate Atlantis.

n September 2009, it was announced that four episodes of V would air in November 2009, and that the series would resume its 13-episode season in March 2010 after the 2010 Winter Olympics.[9] ABC entertainment president Steve McPherson said, "We always intended to break the show up into 'pods' to make it more of an event."[9] As production of the fourth episode of V wrapped, it was announced on November 3, 2009 that Scott Rosenbaum had been named executive producer and showrunner of the series, with Peters and Hall remaining as executive producers.[4] Production on the remaining nine episodes will resume in January 2010 and will air on ABC starting March 30, 2010.

Ok so the end of march

I read entertainment weekly magazine. It was announced a long time ago that when V is shown, there would be only 4 episodes, this during sweeps month in November. Then during the spring sweeps, it would return. No conspiracy here. Just profit making decisions.

I actually watched a "space western" not long ago. Does anybody know the movie? I forget the title.
I wasn't sober at the time so I can't really comment on what went on, but there was a subplot involving a pilot (they all live on the moon by the way) who was being paid by some evil company to make a diamond-encrusted asteroid hit the moon so they could mine it and become rich. There was also shoot-outs and strippers, and gambling, etc, was a pretty funny movie.

they are just feeling us out...

don't rule out that they might have had one of their people create this thread too ...just to see

the show has some serious political implications as well...this has to be discussed:

1) the vaccine issue in the show is eerily similar to the issues or doubts regarding the H1N1 vaccine

2) universal healthcare

3) global community (ships headed out to every world capital, in every language with the intent to eventually take over)

4) FBI lady goes underground, finds some dirty truth and goes rogue is a VAGUE reference to oath keepers... and her kid joins the v's...this makes me think of the "conspiracy" crowd and how our kids are exposed to so much #$#@#$ that they are easily turned around on us.. ( UN convention on the rights of the child?)

what sayest thou?

Thank you all for sharing your thoughts, I thought I was going crazy because as ElectricAngel states there are some serious political implications used in the production of this series. Hence why I thought it was weird there was only 4 episodes and they managed to involve topics of disclosure, H1N1, universal healthcare and splinter cell activities (CIA/Al Qaeda) etc... Reminds me how good the West Wing was (making the show current to politics around the world).

But thanks to iforget I now understand this was always the course of the show by ABC, previously announcing only four episodes to air on tv initially.

Just to let you know ElectricAngel I don't work for any production company, I watch the show online, from where I live in Thailand. I am an English teacher from the UK; but I understand your skepticism of me posting a thread and feeling us out for the rest of the series. Actually that's a very good idea and I am sure there are some members who do just that.

As to the conspiracy of Firefly, this is the first time I have heard of the name and I haven't watch enough of their shows to understand why they get canned. I prefer watching premiership football but got hooked on V when it kicked off.

Agreed. They seem to be doing this more and more in recent days. Many shows start with a kind of "sample season", check the ratings, and then decide accordingly.....

This is very very weird, in my opinion.

i may sound deluded and crazy, but i think this may be tied into a alien disclosure that might happen in 2010.

just a theory not saying it's right, but it is sure as hell interesting.

I went out and bought the old V series after hearing the speculation from th remakes (even though they sound a lot diffrent)
Anyway, there were firstly a Mini-series that eventually led to the TV show which consisted of 19 episodes and also left/ finished on a sortta cliff hanger what with the "star-child" going back to the visitor home world.
After watching the episodes you realise some, if what most of this sorrta pre-dates the bulk of the starchild/reptile yahoo that is a common theme in ATS.
