Spectacular Phenomena In The Sky. What Is It?

A patent doesnt mean they have done it. Its more of a proposal than anything. right?

Hey this is just an observation, and I dont THINK anyone mentioned this yet, but this sounds an aweful lot like what the villagers at Fatima saw as one of the "Miracles."

If you're not familliar what I'm talking about, basically the "Virgin Mary" allegedly appeared to 3 children in Fatima, and promised show a miracle over a large crowd of people.

This miracle included (my own shortened version): The sun coming out of it's place, spiriling around, shining rays of different colors, and rotating until it got so big, everyone freaked out and thought it was going to land on them. Then it just dissapeared.

Some think the Fatima miracle is related to some type of UFO sighting. What do you think? Is this the same thing?

So you are one to follow general consensus? I thought ATS was home to people that thought independently.

All types of rockets have been tested for years and years and years, but for some reason this is the first time anything even CLOSE to this has happened.

Alas, if the all knowing "Phage" deems it a rocket, than a rocket it is.

You can't believe everything you hear... not even on a conspiracy forum.

The last picture on the gizmodo site seems pretty suspect to me. The other ones and the video showed houses, but that one looks like someone was standing on the mountains and took it.

Not being paranoid it may well be a refresh problem or FB having a crap day but 3 posts ?

Dude... the fact that there are plenty of people here that can't or won't except the truth is a given and proves nothing. To anybody with a healthy skepticism it's "obviously" a failed missle. Believe me, I'm looking for it just like everybody here but I refuse to be an ignorant fool.

Yep, but I'm just throwin out ideas. I'm still not convinced, as most people are, of it's completely rocket-like characteristics. I think that the proximity of this event to the atmospheric testing facility is a strange coincidence.

Well someone mentioned EISCAT and now that has a lot of people believing everything to do with HAARP etc. I wish someone would explain how exactly EISCAT, which was offline (as someone mentioned) at the time produced a spiral

Thanks mate for the update. A very popular thread, too popular for me to chase down all the posts to catch up.

Seems very precise for a rocket malfunction, but better heads than mine have already argued it out by now I'm sure.

It is confirmed now that the Norwegian military has been informed about a Russian missile test.

So it was a rocket that made this phenomenon.

But the origin of the blue spiral isnt from the right direction, its coming from the White Sea. Like most upper air phenomenen, it was probably seen 100km's away from where it was occuring

If it was indeed a rocket launch gone bad why didn't they push that self destruct button immediately as schrodingers dog claimed should have happened?

The question of the circular rings around the object still have to be explained, I for one have seen nothing like that before. It seemed to be illuminated from the ground behind the hill.

it is a truly amazing sight to see!
most rocket failures don't produce such spectacular results
There will most likely be more explanations in the coming days/hours to explain the rockets striking visual appeal

Don't listen to Phage
Don't listen to anyone that says its a rocket
Decide for yourself
At the same time be realistic

Can we have a link to that to confirm it?

I doubt that will sway any of the hardcore conspiracy theorists, but IMO, a no-fly zone plus statements form experts and officals, combined with some normal rocket trail characteristics is a fine explanation by me

I think it's reasonable to use Occam's razor here, and that the most obvious explanation is most likely the correct one: a military weaponry test, whatever that might be; rocket, a secret defense weapon, physics test. But I call it man made for now.

Can someone explain to me how (If this is indeed a rocket):

The phenomenon just seems to disappear, and not fade out slowly as rocket fuel would. (It would take time to dissipate)

It may be that the image is backlit by a rocket.. However.. it would be darker in the outer rings, and the image pattern would light up at different angles as the rocket spins its tail.

Watch the Video again carefully, and you can see at the very beginning, that spiral is SPINNING! not stationary.
