Tehran's Spiral

www.newsweek.com

For months, Iran's opposition leaders have asked the government to earn back people's trust by allowing protestors to air their views and organize peaceful marches. If not, opposition leaders warned, the protesters will only become more radicalized. "There's danger ahead," presidential candidate Mir Hossein Moussavi admonished back in July. "A regime that has depended on the trust of the people for 30 years can't depend on the security forces overnight … We can still rebuild the damaged trust of

OK here we go.

It seems that the Iranian Government may have their very own home grown grass roots extremist caused by their own heavy handedness.

Poetic justice anybody?

Of course we will here that this is nothing more than a CIA/MI5 plot.

The Iranians themselves seem to be completely incapable of overthrowing a Government!

It has only happened twice in the last century.

Amateur video reportedly shows thousands of protestors shouting "death to the dictator" outside Tehran University. (Dec. 7)

It seems to really be heating up. They seem to want a separation from mosque and State.
Same source

The videos, photos, and written accounts posted to opposition Web sites and YouTube show that the protests are taking a radical turn. "Khamenei is a killer, his authority is finished" is one slogan chanted in Tehran today. "Religion is separate from politics, this is our slogan"

The truth is it's hard to know what really is transpiring in Iran.

Honestly the G-20 Video's out of Pittsburgh looked a lot worse than the aftermath of the Iranian election.

Not to mention the fact that Karzai's opponent in Afghanistan also alleged widespread voter fraud in that election this summer.

If it's our puppet government that the people are protesting against it's crazy people.

If it's not our puppet government that the people are supposedly protesting against it's a bad government!

Too many hypocritical things come out of the mainstream media to trust a word they say.

The truth is somewhere probably inbetween total CIA/MI5 Manipulation and some Iranians wishing for a different form of government.

Conversely there are a LOT of Americans who wish we had a different form of government.

Frankly I think American's would be far better served worrying about and dealing with the problems in the American Government where we actually LIVE as opposed to Iran's.

I for one am not planning on moving there if you know what I mean!

This is a video from the Tea Party Protest on 9-12 of this year in Washington D.C. and represents likely a larger crowd of people who are against the current Big Government in Washington D.C.

One of the things they are against is an American Military Empire in places like Tehran!

Should the Iranians be helping us out of our political morass since Washington seems so intent on trying to help a MINORITY of Iranians out of theirs. Of course that just happens to be the minority that Washington believes it can enslave to our corporate lifestyle.

What a surprise!

I say we clean up our own yard first and let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Me I love sinning!

Forgive me for not casting any!

UGH!

Is it even possible for these folks to get along? IMHO everyone attending a rally or protest should be issued a taser by the city that its being held in. That way when peaceful protesters (actual protesters or undercover cops posing as protesters) start getting out of hand and go looking to vandalize the city, the nearest level head can taser that idiot and get on with a lawful protest. i.e. we are our brothers keeper.

Yeah I know.

What does that have to do with Iran?

I think what confuses a lot of people in a very detrimental way is the inability to discern the hypocracy in government propaganda and dogma.

It's clear that when unrest in other nations can be exploited for some form of profit in foreign lands our corporate government will extoll us to do just that.

Yet when hundreds of thousands of people gather on our own nation's capitol to protest what goes on in our government it is largely ignored.

It's a dangerous dual standard, that's what it has to do with Iran!

The reality is our government is leading us down the garden path on Iran in part to divert the attention of people from being able to focus on our own nation's critical issues and to do anything to attempt to change the status quo.

Persia has been around for thousands of years and Empires and various forms of governance have risen and fallen all throughout it's rich and varied history.

Our way of life here is in far greater jeapordy and it doesn't serve Americans well to fall for more war mongering Zionist inspired propaganda!

Definitely worth keeping an eye on this. This is somewhat encouraging to me as I see a glimmer of hope that a new generation of sensible Muslims can actually think for themselves and understand the proper place for government and religion.

Fair enough but...

I'd hardly call reporting an anti Government protest by their students Exploitation.

I would when you combine the mainstream news medias overall efforts these days in relation to Iran and the Zionist beating the war drums and the Shah's son sitting in the wings giving speeches at the Washington D.C. Press Club.

You add 30,000 fresh combat troops to neighboring Afghanistan and you have all the earmarks and signs of a imminent new war.

Some one has to caution against that and that would be me!

Thanks.

No...

We have had tons of ATS conspiracy accusations and speculations on a possible attack on Iran by the US, Israel and the fat lady down the street. The troops in those neighboring countries are a tad bit busy at the moment if you haven't noticed.

It's amazing how their schedules clear after a few hundred Tomahawk Cruise Missiles, a few weeks of heavy bombing and drone flights and Navy Battle Ship shelling.

Before you know it everyone in the whole U.S. Military wants to go and see too, even if they don't want to go and see!

There is a steady propaganda war being conducted against Iran no ifs and or buts about it.

World War III will be a guerilla information war, with no division
between military and civilian participation." Marshall McLuhan

Amazingly the man who wrote that a very famous Canadian by the way died before the advent of the Internet!

Interesting, but still speculation non the less.
Many seem to have the US/UK convicted without any real proof. This however doesn't stop some from the rhetoric. This is in my opinion very myopic.

Well we all know what people say about opinions.

Both nations certainly have a well documented involvement in exploiting Iran for it's oil.

If it walks like a duck and it quacks like a duck its a duck.

Denial is a happy state for many people though friend. That old team spirit and pride and what not.

Ah to be a rock and not to roll!

The only problem is it is the same duck that has been recycled again and again for about the past three years.

How many more times do people have to be predicting that US or Israel will attack Iran? Guess folks figure one day it will happen and they can say "told you so."

I find the situation in Iran but still have some doubts has as to whether it is being staged.

1) Moussavi is still involved. In the past he would have disappeared.

2) information getting out. Has technology in Iran grown to such a point that not even the government can control it?

3) As long as the US sees turmoil in Iran, the US is less likely to get involved militarily in hopes that there will be an uprising and the current rulers would be overthrown. Perfect reason to allow such events to take place and perfect way to buy time.

4) Change. Obama wants the world to love him us. Why would he attack Iran knowing the world will disapprove?

I don't normally make predictions but I will in this case.

December 27th 2009 Israel will attack Iran!

Iran will counter attack. They will have some success in that regard.

It will escalate quickly. Israel will attack a U.S. Warship much like with the U.S.S. Liberty incident.

It will be blamed on Iran.

The United States will retaliate.

Hezbollah will launch an attack on Israel out of Lebanon, it will turn into a two front war.

Israel will unleash a withering retaliation on Lebanon, but pressed from Lebanon and Iran, Syria will risk coming right up the Golan Heights.

World War III shall officially begin.

The Persian Gulf will be blocked and all the idiots who participated in and fell for these propganda wars can start paying 20.00 a gallon for gas.

Me I right a bicycle!
