NASA climate expert hopes Copenhagen summit fails

news.yahoo.com

LONDON (AFP) – A leading scientist who helped alert the world to the dangers of global warming said on Thursday that climate talks in Copenhagen next week were based on such flawed proposals that he hoped they failed.
James Hansen, the director of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies since 1981, said attempts to forge a global deal on cutting emissions after the Kyoto treaty expires were based on a "fundamentally wrong" approach.
"I would rather it not happen if people accept that as being the right track because it's a disaster track," he told Britain's Guardian newspaper ahe

A leading scientist that helped alert to Global warming is now coming out to say that the data was flawed and hopes that the Copenhagen summit fails... Wow... Is he just trying to save his @ss or what?

Although, at least he came out and went public with this statement. Hopefully, this will put an end to the "Cap and Trade"!

That's what i read as well.

That he hopes it fails, since the ambitions of countries like china and India makes the final product "light", So everyone will leave with a false sense of having done something right for the environment - When in reality we're still going down the wrong path, just a tad bit slower.

No, i do not support cap and trade.

Yes the Data is corrupted with False Data

This is a proven HOAX now.

He's the guy who alerted the world about climate change, and he thinks the result in Copenhagen will not be enough. It has nothing to do with the tainted data.

talk of emails...huge image of oil wells..

why do these idiots always do that instead of mentioning the ENORMOUS amounts of money that are and will be involved in the CC swindle..for ETERNITY!!!!

in fact..it wouldnt suprise me if the people behind the oil companies are supporting this junk science as a way of surviving anno oil...

Yup, the whole cap and trade thing reeks already. But to me the big gorilla in the room is "how the hell do we get back to sustainable levels?"

Climate change deniers DON'T wanna do anything about it, i think it's their fear of change in their personal lifestyle that fuels them.

i couldnt disagree more...i believe that climate change is not and cannot be man made...but i can assure you i have no fear about changing my lifestyle..so your wrong..

what i dont want to be is tracked and taxed because of a lie..if you want that...fine..its just a shame that your compliance also affects the lives of me and my children..

anyway...theres nothing to deny...the emails prove that their data cant link man to climate change...or should i say 'couldnt link' as they seem to have lost the files..

Its not like it matters anyway . . . noone except people at ATS really care about the emails. All you have to do is talk to anyone else in the world to see the sheer apathy
100% brainwashed in terms of global warming

I don't know i you catched it, I'm no fan of cap and trade - i do not support one bit. I do support big nations getting together and discussing what can be done though.

I do believe in man made climate change though. I don't really care about the Co2 levels though, but everything else that comes from burning fossil fuels. There's a sharp rise in asthma in young children and i don't think we can blame the volcanoes for that.

IMO we need to move away from oil, but stuff like fusion is underfunded, and fission suffers from the NIMBY complex.

I think the movie "The Day The Earth Stood Still" displays the situation nicely. Most people wont think about change before it's to late.

"Going green" - like both you and me are doing, is actually a smart thing, it saves money on gas, heating/cooling and water without really interfering with ones personal lifestyle.

This source is amateur journalism.
What is needed is professional level interviewers, such as Warren Olney of PBS.
All of these former or current heads of agencies need to be given tough questions and follow- ups with plenty of time for their answers.
