Hopefully the OP is gathering more information to back up his balloons claim and put this to rest. It should be as simple as calling his Dad and asking him to contact the neighbor. Have his Dad take pictures and or video of the balloons. Upload pics and or video for all to see. I can't see why his neighbor would object to such a request.

I'm having a problem understanding how his neighbor could have reeled in both balloons in the 2 minutes he was away, seems impossible to me.

Good points

And why would a rural property owner have several weather balloons in the air at once?

So it seems we're looking at either this point either supporting the OP, or demolishing him.

Update: well, I've sent a u2u to echelon over 24 hours ago now, and to no avail so far. I think it's most important to this thread that he show up soon and address the things that have been brought to light recently. I'll give him the benefit that we are in the holiday season (tho I'm not sure that Australia is on a holiday weekend ??) Anyway, it really would help this thread if he'd speak up, especially about this new CGI claim. I'd also like to point out that we haven't heard from allisone either.
A slow time for ATS I suppose, or perhaphs he thinks it's a waste of time. *shrug* Until we hear more from certain key folks, this thread is at an official stand-still.

I've been asking myself why the mods haven't tagged this thread as a hoax and allowed it to continue. The only thing I can come up with is the fact that those of us involved thus far have not proven this fact. I agree with that. If the OP does not come forward with evidence soon though, we must conclude it as a hoax. Do you agree?

I also agree with much of william.gauncets arguments on this thread. He has not given substantial proof to consider, but he has asked very important questions that have been ignored as I. Lets give the OP the rest of the weekend to construct more lies, but if you have an open mind it is not hard to see what is truly going on here.

Hi Wookiep, and Guzzeppi,

Intuitvely, I'm almost there in calling it a non-event/bordering on hoax.

I'll leave 1% open for benefit of the doubt for Echelon, but his absence is nailing the last one into the coffin.

Hi Guzzeppi!

I agree that the thread is still open, since it has not been conclusively proved as hoax or genuine beyond reasonable doubt.
And I'd really love to see photos and testimony from the neighbour with his "balloons", so that we can indeed put this one to bed.

But I'm a little baffled by your support for a certain other posters' arguments in the thread?
I've looked back over the postings, and I can't really find any "important questions" of his that remain unanswered?

Could you (or they) possibly re-iterate these for me?

Many Thanks.

What I did find were several attacks on other posters, (including the OP) without any proof or substantial evidence, and a general lack of credibility, probably from not reading the thread properly before commenting.

I'm finding it kind of hard to understand why someone else would support this type of stance?

For reference, here's a small selection of comments from within the thread, (with my own responses added) to illustrate my point:

1.
"My professional movie critique for movies 1, 2, and 3..
crap
crap
and more crap!"

Maybe, this would have come across as a bit less arrogant and aggressive if it was worded...
"I have looked at the 3 videos, and IMHO, I am not impressed by their quality or validity"?

2.
"Not trying to be rude here by any means. I take it you are on your computer at the home you live with your parents, right?"

Perhaps reading the thread properly would have revealed that Echelon had been at his parents home during the "sighting", but was now 350 miles away at his own place?

3.
"So your parents live in Mildura and you live in Melbourne.
You called them your neighbors?
Also you stated that your dog was on HIS couch?
You live approxiamately 350 miles away and your parents keep a couch outside for your dog?
You live that far away and so say where your dad usually keeps his camcorder? How would you know that if you don't live there?"

Echelon was brought up there, he lived there for 19 years! So, of course he refers to the neighbours, the house, the dog, the couch etc. as "his".
Doesn't everyone else, whose parents still have the place that you were brought up in, do that?? (I know I do!)

4.
"He talks about his parents house as if he lives there. References to where his dad usually keeps his camcorder, the dog's couch, his neighbors.
I suspect a kid playing games at his parents house to where he allegedly lives.
With all do respect....
I don't think the mentality of people are that much different in Australia.
Keeping furniture solely for animals that don't live anywhere near you is not normal."

Echelon never at any time said that he still lives at his parents. And implying that he is just "a kid playing games" is downright rude and dis-respectful. He also never said that the couch was used solely for animals (his dog), he simply said "on his couch" to indicate that the dog often lay there.

5.
"If me not buying into some BS attempt at hoaxing, then I am ignorant and I will wear the title of ignorant.
Wanna know what I really think? Probably not, but I'm going anyway.
The fact that the OP would even think that someone would buy this is real UFO footage in the first place is retarded!
The fact that some of you still believe this may be real footage is retarded .
The fact that some of you critique other members methods of looking for the truth is retarded.
The fact that this thread is still open is retarded.
If none of the above is true, well then that would probably make me retarded.
I mean what the hell is this, an Alcohol Anonymous meeting with all the thank yous to the OP for sharing? Hopefully you all clapped for the OP when he was done sharing."

Calling the posting of this footage "BS.. hoaxing", without offering ANY credible evidence to back this up, is completely un-warranted and once again, downright rude. The videos may be hoaxed, (that remains to be proven) but labelling them as such, without even quantifying this statement as "only an opinion" is just wrong In My Opinion!
Some people DID buy into this footage as being possibly genuine, so even if it is hoaxed, the OP would have been right to think that they would buy in - Therefore NOT Retarded.
The jury is still out for some people, until the footage is proven one way or the other. It's called having an open mind, and that is surely NOT Retarded.
Critique of other members methods, is surely at the heart of finding out the truth and denying ignorance? Therefore NOT Retarded.
The thread is still open because some questions remain un-answered. NOT Retarded.
Many of the "Thank yous" were for opening an entertaining thread, and for answering the many questions posted, in a sensible, thorough and apparently genuine manner, whilst ignoring much baiting and criticism. Comparing that to an AA meeting with sneering ridicule is neither helpful nor warranted, and shows a complete lack of sensitivity with regards to all of the posters here, and indeed to those individuals unfortunate enough to be afflicted with Alcoholism.

6.
"He figured out the phone # of his parents neighbors (or his neighbors as he calls it) real quick living approx 350 miles away.
How convenient! Probably just remembered the phone number because they we so close friends!"

Picture the scene... he calls directory enquiries and asks for the number of Mr Neighbour, Vine House, Vinyard Road...
Yeah, that's "convenient" and definitely reeks of suspicion!! He couldn't possibly have done that (or just asked his dad!!) from 350 miles away? (Sarcasm, on this occasion, fully intended! as a response to the sarcastic nature of the original post!)

7.
"You critique other members non stop. All you do is complain how people analyze things and try to come up with words that are not common to make yourself look smarter than you are.
You seem as though we need to come to you for awards of the honor of detective, psychologist, and so on."

This statement was directed at another poster, "Mckyle" who has complemented several posters for their contributions, during this thread (and others), so NO he does not just "complain" or "critique other members non stop".
Nor does he ask for others to come to him for awards etc. Again, statements like these are unfounded, untrue, antagonistic and just plain rude.

******

I am not "having a go" at anyone here.
I firmly believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and that through these debates and listening to the arguments of others is how we get to the truth behind much of the subject matter behind these threads.
I was just a bit surprised at the showing of public support for a series of posts which, to me, came across as lacking in respect, thoughfulness and factual evidence.
It is my opinion that posts which serve no purpose, other than to ridicule or discredit other posters, without providing anything in the way of actual evidence, and without quantifying the post as being "only an opinion", have a detrimental effect on the purpose of these threads (and indeed the ATS site itself) which is finding the truth, through denying ignorance.
Put simply, it derails the thread.
If anyone would like to discuss these points, please feel free to U2U me, as I honestly do not wish to further derail this thread!

Thanks,
G

Excellent collation of the OP's statements Gordi

As no doubt you read my above post, I feel somewhat guilty/hesitant, to declare this as an 'almost-run'. But why the silence?

Silence can be proof of innocence, but amongst a cyncial bunch who love seeing people fail, it's virtually a signed confession

Yeah, I totally agree, that it's just about dead in the water.
If the neighbours balloon(s) look like the objects in the video, then it's case closed.

But, Even if the neighbours balloon(s) don't look like those objects in the videos, we still have the important question of CGI.

I'm afraid I don't know enough about CGI to be able to comment with any authority. The movements of the "ufo" (following the camera movements) were not obvious to my untrained eye, they just looked like poor resolution, slow frame rate camera-phone artefacts to me.
But I'm absolutely open to receiving more informed analysis.

Did Wookie hear back from Echelon yet?

Nope, nothing yet Gordi. However, I just noticed something pretty important... Echelons last post was on the 25th, K? I just took a look at his profile and guess what??

"Last Visit: November 29, 2009"

Sooo, if we don't hear from him today (giving echelon once again the benefit of the doubt by reading through all the posts etc) then I'd have to say this book is about to be closed.

Hey guys, sorry I haven't posted in a few days.

The ops might as well move this to the HOAX thread if that is going to make the majority of ATS happy. There should be a section called "Identified" or something like that..

The reason I am saying this is because it's going to be some time before I go back home to where these videos were shot, therefore its going to be a while before I can pay my neighbor there a visit.

My parents are busy people, and I don't particularly want to ask them to go and knock on the neighbors door and ask to see his weather balloons.

*snip*

This was not CGI, and I don't know the first thing about CGI let alone creating it.

As far as I'm concerned, move this thread to the HOAX thread please, I don't really care about it anymore.

The objects are identified as weather balloons and it's going to be some time before I can either prove or disprove this claim...

I'm going to be focusing my attention to another subject that has me intrigued and is discussed here on ATS and that is the unfolding situation with the Middle-east and Iran's nuclear facilities, because I genuinely believe there is going to be a major conflict soon that will affect us all.

So anyway, keep discussing it, dispute it, ponder it, go on ATS and claim your a CGI expert and tell everyone this was all CGI when really your just a twit, I don't care! I'll be sure to post my findings in a few months time when I go home again and look into the weather balloon explanation.

Thanks for paying a large interest in my videos and experience anyway.

Cheers!

~Echelon.

Well, you obviously have an internet connection. Would it be wrong for me to assume that "your neighbor" has an internet connection as well?

Actually, it would be a shorter process to have the neighbor take some pics and reproduce it for you and send them to you to produce here than to have your parents go over there and do it and then send the pics to you and then to put them up here.

Your neighbor seemed amused by your phone call. If you simply explained this "hoax" as you now call it that you made available to the world, I think he would readily help you.

I have no idea if he has an internet connection or not.

After reading most of your replies it seems as though you have made the assumption that my family and I are best of friends with this neighbor, or at the very least on talking terms.

I will clarify that despite having lived near him all my life that phone conversation with him was the first time I had ever even spoken to him. Ok?

Now forgive me if I feel a little reluctant to completely HOUND this guy to take time out of his own schedule to take photo's of his balloons, ask him to personally call complete strangers and explain to them what his balloons are used for specifically as one ATS member wanted, ask my parents to go over and disturb him and knock on his door and ask to see his weather balloons and take photos of them... All for the sake of my own curiosity and the curiosity of complete strangers to him on a conspiracy website!

I know you will completely pick apart what I have just said, but it's just too bad because I don't really feel comfortable with doing ANY of that stuff.

I'll visit him in person, when I am back home again, and show him the videos on my phone and ask him if I can see his balloons, and then I will ask him for his permission to take some photo's to submit to a website to clarify that this UFO sighting was a case of mis-identification.

Well, he took your phone call and found it almost humorous. Why would a second be that bad and to just ask him to send you a pic if he can. But you would rather travel around 350 miles the next time you see your parents and invade a complete strangers property that you have never met that pretty much was your close neighbor for most of your life.

The the folks that want a CGI explanation get called twits and you say to just call it a hoax. Now you just want to go talk about the middle east other than to have an explanation as to why your heart was beating so hard and that you were in almost a state of shock.

Your story is really falling apart.

Not buying anything you are selling here!

2 phone calls is not hounding.

Also, weren't you concerned about the curiosity of the members on this site by providing the proof or even presenting the "story" in the first place?

You seem more concerned about someone you have never met other than the people you are talking to around the world.

I couldn't care less if I tried, that you believe it or not.

If this thread gets put into the HOAX section or not, I don't care.

If the entire thread gets pulled from ATS, I don't care.

I wish I had never started it in the first place. I should have known better than to want to share my experience, BE IT A REAL ALIEN SPACESHIP OR NOT, with the online community that is ATS...

In my own mind and heart, what I seen and filmed that day remains a mystery yet to be solved. And I am going to do it in my own time.

You are just going to have to find something else to occupy yourself with.

Okay, you posted this here and got our attention. However, when we ask specific questions about things like your camera phone, you don't answer. I'm still waiting on your answer to this camera phone question (regarding zoom ability). Please post info on your camera phones make and model number so we can look into this.

You seemed to think this was important enough to post, but fail to follow up in things like asking questions of the neighbor or interviewing him/her. In my experience the neighbor would gladly show off his ballon and probably would proudly pose for a picture. Why are you being so cagey about this now instead of following through on this? You're lack of follow-up has people questioning you. It needn't be that way if you continue to look into things and post evidence of the neighbors balloon.

BTW, ATS is not just a "Conspiracy Website" (your words). It deals with a broad range of topics by people with open minds. And we are still discriminating enough that we're not taken in by hoaxes or someones misinterpretations without some semblence or trail of proof.

I look forward to your future posts here.
