Hello my name is James, I am 18 and I live in a small town no ones probably ever heard of somewhere in Pennsylvania. I have been poking around this site for that last 6 months and the topics discussed here are ones I could never talk to my friends about without getting that "look". You know the "your crazy wtf are you talking about look." So I usually keep them to myself. The things that are discussed on this forum peak my interests and sometimes need a little clarification for me to comprehend. Which brings me to making this account. If I have a question I'm going to ask it, if I don't agree with something I will promise to hear your side of it and why you believe so. I try to be open minded in everything I do and thats one of the reasons I like this forum. The topics here almost always have two sides and I am interested in learning about both sides of the discussion. And hopefully after I do I can reach some sort of conclusion.

Anyways I am not exactly a social butterfly, I guess I would describe myself as a bit of a misanthrope. Quite the loner. And I hope to make some friends here as well as learn as much as I can. And thanks for reading this.

Nothing isn't so bad, it's formless, space-less, and full of complete potentiality. You have a clean slate, you can be anything. Even though you don't feel like much in this outer-verse, you've probably experienced more in your inner-verse than most, and I'm confident that its just as infinite and amazing.

those who do not understand you - is a good place to be.

Thats the great thing about ATS and the internet in general... You can be who you aren't in real life. In my life, I have a mundane job, crappy pay, a wife, a couple of kids and lead a pretty boring existence. But on here....... It's a different story.

The crap you're going through is normal 18 year old stuff. Hopefully you have plans to go off to college and broaden your horizons. There is a lot of stuff out there you don't want to miss and college is a chance to meet like minded people. Its worth it.

Anyrate, welcome to ATS. Be prepared to not get a lot of stuff done anymore and send all complaints to SO or Springer...lolz.

Welcome! Don't worry about getting 'the look'. I'm willing to bet that many of those same people have similar thoughts from time-to-time and are probably afraid of getting 'the look' from others too which may be why they never mention topics like these. Besides, I've gotten 'the look' all my life. I almost can't remember what it's like not getting 'the look'. That's okay because I'm okay with myself, and if others aren't then that's their problem IMHO.LOL Welcome again!

I'll bet you're just incredibly bright and that's why people don't understand you! You must say things that completely go over their heads,while they worry about the latest gossip and trendy things society tells them to think about!
