Very sad indeed. Young lives lost due to recklessness, and this guy gets PAID suspension.
No amount of money will ever remove the thought of what this guy has done from this cop's mind...
Tragic.

policeman over here in england, seem alot more intense than i remember them being 10-15 year ago, as i have seen in america too with numerous report, with some of my experiences with them where we are asked to move along for simply sat down talking to homeless people for instance, they seem be quick to an aggressive tone just under the surface, wont listen and rediculously threaten you with arrest for allsorts of unworthy reasons after you have tried to engage them with reason for so long.

Makes me wonder if they are putting something in their coffee, if not an extra lump of indoctrination

Yup. That cop screwed up.

Nobody loves the police until they need them, sick of cop bashing threads. You expect all the US police forces to be 110% perfect and raining gum drops all the time 24/7 365?

when some of you "cop lovers" get a taste of what these robots are really like.. i think you'll change your veiw...wounder if you'd still feel this way if it were your kids.. or family in that car....

Reckless Cop Crashes Car at 95 MPH Kills 2 Innocent Teens

Again?

I knew a Girl when I was in high school that was killed by an unmarked police car responding to a call. He slammed into her broadside. The family tried to sue but they were not able to prove their case that the Officer should have had his lights and siren on. His defense said it was critical in a certain type of police response to approach in silence. The Police officer got off Scott free.

He accepted the responsbility of that badge and gun. He is getting a slap on the wrist for his actions when he should be getting two murder charges and immediate termination from the force. With power comes responsibility, and if you abuse that power you should be held responsible for it.

Also, I've needed the cops many times and they never came. It was always "call back when it happens". A guy threatens to come break into my house and break my jaw, and they operater tells me to call back when he gets there. LOL Cops are useless.

Then there's this other cop I met at my friends house. Her neighbors were starting drama with us and someone called the cops. A few show up and this guy starts talking to my friend after the whole ordeal is over. She's flirting with him just because she's drunk. Well he has been stopping by late at night ON DUTY, walking up to her apartment and saying there's been a "noise complaint". Have a social life all you want but seriously, he's on duty wasting tax money when people out there are getting robbed, raped, and murdered.

COPS ARE CRAP

Few questions:

Was the cop answering a call?

If so, why did he feel compelled to get there before the cop car videoing did?

Why was he not using his blues and twos (lights)?

As there was no sound on the video, I guess we'll have to assume the siren was going, although I have tendency to doubt it, cos' if he was speeding to the scene of a crime and not wanting to alert the criminals, you don't use your siren, but you do use your lights....

He screwed up....big time...!!

It takes a special person to be a cop, few of them are, as they are as human as you and I and as fallible, not enough people or cops understand that reality.

Paid leave seems to indicate a union is involved.

Pretty tragic story for everybody involved. I anticipate him copping a plea in order to avoid a longer sentence. Hopefully, a judge doesn't see it fit to give him a slap on the wrist.

It is notable that he is suspended; with pay means the union is involved and that is not a surprise. He has been charged. This implies the actions are not condoned by the police department.

According to the article he passed on the right side of the road and was NOT responding to a call. This implies a whole bunch of other factors and I'm trying really hard not to be totally disgusted by this until more comes out... but I'm failing.

Thoughts with the families...

Reckless homicide needs no intent...just a callous disregard for life. Cops should be held to the same standards as everyone else but they are always given the easy way out. If a cop, as in this case, showed NO regard for safety and life, then he is a murderer, as surely as if someone was waving a gun around firing it into the air and someone gets shot.

Police unions believe that they must defend ANY actions by a thug cop, no matter how disgustingly and obviously reckless. police unions are a danger to a free nation, and should not be allowed, excpet as social entities. Lobbying for cops is a sick and twisted attempt to get the people to see cops as infallible...and the cops today are so badly in need of control and oversight from civilians...NOT the same cronies that they pal around with day and night.

I fear that some day the people will be forced in to dispensing justice themselves and emilinating cops who cross the line and get away scot free because of the nonsense that unions and cop groupies scream.

Cops like this one should just disappear. That way the others might wake up and see that they face far more than a slap on the wrist.

A few things.

First you cannot be charged with murder unless you have planned out the killing. Otherwise you get second degree which is manslaughter.

Second there are times when it is critical to not use lights or sirens because they need to arrive in silence. This is only special occasions but yes there are times when it is called for.

As for this cop if he was not responding to a call then he is an idiot that should be punished. His punishment should be manslaughter and he should serve that sentence. He should also be forced to pay restitution to the families of the teens he killed.

If he is charged he will lose his job. As mentioned above it is likely due to a union that he got paid leave. As soon as they rule it his fault he will be dismissed of his job and the pay that comes with it. He will then be put up for criminal charges of manslaughter.

Just because there are idiot cops and bad cops, does not mean all are. But I might as well be saying this to a brick wall because so many here are prone to generalizing every cop and painting them with the same brush. Yes this cop did something stupid and he should be held accountable for that, so should all bad cops. But there are bad people in every career out there. Just because someone works in a factory does not been they cannot be a bad person. Just because they run a funeral home does not mean they can be a bad person. Just because they run a day care does not mean they are a good person. There are bad people all over, stop the ignorance of generalizing. You might as well say all blacks are criminals and all Asians are good at math or all Israelis’ are Jews or all Americans love war.

Man I saw this on the television the other day and it broke my heart. Poor girl driving the car got launched thirty feet away from the car because of the impact.

Peace

You have to yield to uncoming traffic before you make a left turn across a busy highway. Seems to me this teen wasnt paying attention to incoming traffic before she turned and got broadsided.

Your telling me that its the cops fault that this lady decided to turn to cross the highway in front of two speeding Police cars?

I wish you had actually taken the time to READ.

Yes. It was the Cop's fault for driving at 95 MPH without lights, without siren, without any call to attend.

There is a reason why he is being charged with manslaughter.

Stop defending him. It makes you look like an idiot.

It is certainly the cops fault for doing 95mph without lights or sirens. But from the video it's pretty obvious the teen should have been able to see he was coming at her and she did not have time to turn.

This does not excuse the cop before you accuse me of defending him; but this could have been easily avoided by either party.

The cop was dangerously reckless, the teen was probably on her cell phone or something, because it's obvious her eyes weren't on the oncoming traffic.

I can see your point. But, I think, there would have been no fatalities had the Cop not been driving at over 90 MPH.

Very unfortunate.
