Did a search here and didnt see anything on this yet. seems like kind of an odd thing to be putting money into - no? scary:

"Given our large urban population, should any operations be required, there's a good probability that some of them will be taking place in urban environments." However, Eric Graves, the editor of Soldier Systems Daily, a U.S. website that reports on the uniform and equipment industry, questioned whether it made sense to have camouflage based on the landscape of Canadian cities. Various studies indicate the world's population in developing nations is becoming more focused in urban areas and military officers often talk about future warfare being in those areas. "It makes zero sense for the Canadian military to produce an urban pattern based on their own cities unless they plan on fighting there," Graves noted. "If that's the case, then it is the perfect choice."

huh can't see why the CDF would feel this necessary as there are no threats to Canada's territorial sovereignty except possibly in the arctic. I don't think counter-terrorism would be an issue either.

Well, with all the world situation, the politics and the world problems, we should considered an invasion in canadian soil. We have a lot of ressources (Fuel, drinkable water, electricity) that one day some countries will look for it... It's better to be prepared than to be surprise.

Gee, maybe it has something to do with Canada's vast resources and the fact that most of our population is close to the US border.

Better safe than sorry. Although it's unfathomable to image another nation invading Canada, imagine if if did happen, and all we had were arctic camo and desert fatigues from operations in the middle east... and it was the middle of July. Sometimes buying uniforms just means we need new uniforms.

Are you implying we would invade our neighbor ally? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Globalization already has a foot hold in your country as does US corporations. it's unthinkably retarded lol. there is nothing we need from Canada except maybe water.

Urban camo wouldn't be a necessary thing to fight the US military. It's for fighting in other countries and putting down revolts in canada itself.

I'm sure it must sound retarded to you, but then again I happen to be a Canadian living in Canada, which is right next to a capitalist empire that has invaded a few countries recently. The US always has plans to invade us, and on a massive scale they probably could but on an individual soldier level American troops don't even come close to our professionalism. We may be allies, but we're not lovers.

Canadians don't usually focus too much on urban combat so maybe this is a new direction for us. Our primary CADPAT is mostly effective in a forest environment but a gray/white version would do well for urban.

Keep laughing. I'm an infantry officer cadet in the CAF and I know the facts. Most American troops on our ground wouldn't even last the winter, especially those from states that don't even have snow.
