WASHINGTON (AFP) – Insufficient intake of vitamin D, long known to play a key role in bone health, may significantly increase a person's risk of stroke, heart disease and even death, a US study said Monday.

Examining 27,686 Utah patients aged 50 or older with no history of cardiovascular disease, the study found those with very low vitamin D levels were 77 percent more likely to die early than those with normal levels.

They were also found to be 45 percent more likely to develop coronary artery disease and 78 percent were more likely to have a stroke, said the research by the Heart In

Many on here have spoken of the benefits of Vitamin D...heck I even heard Pat Robertson on the 700 Club telling people to take more vitamin D lol. This article should confirm that Vitamin D is truly beneficial to our health and should be taken. The article does not however mention what is normal intake, only what is considered normal and low vitamin D levels in their study. It also mentions nothing of overdoses or the quality of supplements available.
Typical news story, 'here is something new or exciting or something that can safe your life but we won't tell you why how or where to get it!' lol
At least it will peak the interest of some to investigate further.
