Last night around 1 A.M my dog got off her chain.
She was barking and growling up a storm.

I ran out side with a flash light she had this little light brown bear..i swear to it...
cornered in my kids playhouse.
It was making a weird noise.
But it was 100% a bear....
i came in called the animal control people...
they said a bear!! we dont have bear in this area ..i said its a little bear maybe 1 or 2 foot tall..and i told em my dog has it cornered.

They said key a eye on it but dont go outside ect....
I said piss on that im gonna go watch it lol make sure my dog dont get bite too.

well the dog warden came...i let him int he back yard told him my dog aitn mean ect...
he shined a flood light on the playhouse..lo and behold just like i told him a miniature bear.
he was stumped...even he never saw a bear here..and he was 50+ years old.

he told me to grab my dog ..he was gonna use a thing grab it around the neck like a noose deal..
he reached down to grab the device...i grabbed my dog up...and it darted out of the playhouse fast as lightning yelling...best way to describe the noise... lol

he never caught it...but im am living proof there is little bitty 2 foot tall bears in central Kentucky.

55 miles south of Lexington area.

if you got any idea what kinda bear it is please tell me.
it was 2 foot tall maybe 4 foot long..and it wasn't a baby.
you could tell that.
lightish brown closer to golden or creme color .

either way i thought i would share this with ya guy's.

i should have took a pic i know..but it wasn't on my priority list i was trying to save my dog from rabies or something..idk
at least the dog warden saw it allso lol

He wants to set a trap in back yard with food to try to catch it tonight.

should i let him?

Since you seem so sure that it wasn't a baby bear, maybe it was Winnie the Pooh. I mean it's getting colder now and bears need a good place to sleep until spring.....I'm just saying.

Sure go ahead and set a trap...just make sure that you get pictures this time.

How about a camera with food instead of a trap with food? He's obviously not a threat so why bother him?

well we live on the edge of town.

almost every person on this street have kid's small kid's.

and if it came in my back yard hungry eventually it is gonna come again.

but my point it..we do not have bear's in the county i live in...
never have.....

We all have heard legends of a small honey bear kinda thing before but that was indian legend.
folklore.

So maybe thats why this dogwarden wants to catch it?

He said he was going to set up hunting camera's in the back yard to so if i let him he better give me a picture too lol

at edge of my back yard..is a field maybe 1 mile long..then it connect's to a base of a mountain..
so he has to be coming in from that way.
and that is the way toward the biggest city around here.

What color was the bear? Any details that could help identify the species?

You might want to consider trapping it, but hand to hand combat with a bear can be dangerous. Even a mini-bear can weigh up to several pounds. Be careful when training it because they have a short memory span and will not always sleep on the floor.

I wouldn't even tell such a story without pics!

Take this as a lesson everyone... TAKE FREAKIN PICTURES IF YOU SEE SOMETHING STRANGE!!!

I saw a little bear here in Rockcastle about 12 years ago. It was a black bear though, and probably was a young one. My brother and I were walking and came up on it... it ran away.

Ya never know, it could have been a honey bear! All these legends we hear about had to come from somewhere. I wanna see one! LOL!!!

I hope that it does come back and you get a pic! That would be awesome!

I wonder why they would send a dog catcher for a wild bear. Isn't that what the fish and wildlife Dept. is for?

..And at 1am, no less? That Dog Warden better ask for overtime and hazard pay.

In Kentucky, they send dog catchers out to contain bears. Learn something new everyday.

Come on! This is pure BS!

"Thars a midget bar in my bak yard in Kentuky, me un the dog cornered it in da yard! That thar warden seen it too, I sware it wadnt a baby un!"

This just sounds like a load, sorry!

I have seen black bears around you before!
They esp.. like suburbs, for trash cans and left over ppl trash!
This site won't let me quote parts off of it but any how..

www.greatbear.org...

Pay special attention to the part that says east coast 23 states, population 400,000, from, New Mexico-eastcost and all through up to Canada!

Because this is Kentucky, lol. They do things a little differently here, hehe. Honestly, I'm surprised that they even have a dog catcher! I live very close to TheAmused and most of the area is very rural.

Har har! Well, aren't you just classy!

Seems like if someone was going to make up a story, he/she would go with something a little stranger than a bear. Bigfoot or chupacabra would make for a better story. Bears aren't unheard of around here, so I see no reason not to believe him.

Most likely a black bear, unfortunate because something had probably happened to its mother, otherwise your dog would have been dead. My guess deer season genius with gun dead bear soon to be two dead bears.

What sort of biology or zoology experience or education do you have?

How are you positive it was a "miniature bear" as you say and not simply a cub who lost it's mother?

Where are the pictures? I know if I saw a "miniature bear" I sure would be taking some photographs.
