This is just a web-based example. It uses AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) which can be utilized in MANY different ways. Anything from web based, to applications, to even a I-Phone app utilizing it for text messages. The web based version is just to basically show you how easy it is to encrypt and decrypt plain-text while keeping it secure.
