A question about Wikipedia if i may....how do you find out when exactly a entry was made?

The Fort Hood page has an entry about this shooting already, just seems very soon.

so ona daily basis soldiers go into other countries, kill as many if not more innocent people and its no big deal.
but when they do it in your backyard , now its a huge news story and a tragedy.
makes sense to me.

Whoa... many of the injured/dead just returned from combat zones...

This has got to be a Huge mind warp for those soldiers...

My God...

I just can't imagine being at a military homecoming and seeing your spouse, parent, or child shot

Although the deaths are sad, I don't think that the point is about tragedy, I think it is about a secure military post being infiltrated. That's news and it's scary.

FBI is now en route to Ft Hood.

I bet the Army feels sooo much safer....

Fox alleges that the FBI shares jurisdiction with military authorities ....

Odd that.... I wonder how the Provost Marshal feels about that?

The shootings began in the in the Processing center,

One shooter of the two there escaped capture, and then shootings began at the theater on post.

perhaps there are only 2 shooters....

Shepard Smith was talking with someone who confirmed a 3rd shooter. Not sure if the local media here in Central Texas are confirming it yet.

This place is huge folks, population wise, area wise.

They are now doing a personnel count, 30,000 to 35,000 people on base, and the numbers can jump up to 50,000 if troops are deploying (confirmed by local abc network kxxv.com)

Killeen schools are now on lock down but offering early release.
Temple schools are now on soft lock down. Belton ISD is also on lock down. No word what Waco ISD is doing yet. They are telling people to stay indoors and away from windows.

and local news is reporting new information from Ft Hood should be released in 5 to 10 minutes. from the public info officer.

And one of the areas hit was the PX. Oh dear God.. this is really scary folks.

What if these suspects turn out to be "patriots" - Birthers, Truthers, Tea-Partiers, Libertarians, etc?

Everyone has been clamoring for "revolution". Be careful what you wish for. It will turn brother against brother, neighbor against neighbor.

So long civil liberties...

What is a PX?

For those who don't live there.

A local congress woman has raised the specter that this was a case of dissenting soldiers who refused to go to Iraq....

I don't know WHERE that information came from.

She also upped the number to 30 wounded....

Why post if you have no interest in it whatsoever? Are you really that bored?

To be honest, whilst i still think this is IS huge news for the location, as in this doesn't happen every day in the US, i may not have even posted it if it weren't for the fact that it is breaking news and it could help someone who reads it.

Are you aware how many people read ATS and how fast news from this site flies around the world? If just one person near that shooting saw the threads on this and was kept safe as a result, then thats cool with me.

Don't get me wrong, i do understand where you are coming from, but whether you like it or obviously don't, many people like and support our troops and will be shocked at this.

If you can't handle that, why post? Seriously.

I lived on highly secured military bases for 6 years. Getting on these bases if you did not have military ID was nearly impossible. However, anytime there was a huge function - such as air shows - they let the general public in. Apparently today there was some event - and it is possible they let the general public in for this. It is possible, the shooters are not military at all. But who knows.

What a horrible horrible tragedy

PX is short for Post Exchange - which is what they call the military shopping mall.

As much as I can't stand the TPM I don't believe core members have any intention to fire on our own soldiers. Every one of the groups you mention have never taken aim figuratively or otherwise on our armed forced... to the contrary they have supported them.

That being said... there are extreme elements in most every society of belief... if these shooters did turn out to be anything like that, then I would chalk it up to stupid individuals and in no way a reflection on any of these groups you mention... no matter how much disdain I have for them...

The PX is the Post Exchange. Basically a central shopping area for the people that live on the base.

I just spoke to one of my employees that just got out of the military and was stationed at Fort Hood... He said that the place where the shooting happened is where they usually get all their vaccinations before they are deployed...

Not sure if it's worth mentioning... just wanted to add some information that I just received.

Can anyone say... Flu vaccination
