H1N1 vaccine - shotgun, grenade, and napalm to kill a fly

In a typical flu season there might be 3 different flu viruses floating around so the Center for Disease Control [CDC] gives out vaccines to protect from those three.
If H3N2 is in the air, the CDC provides a dead or inactive dose of H3N2 to stop the spread of the disease. Sometimes people get sick from this, as the CDC is actually giving us a mild form of the virus to help us build immunity.

Imagine a small bird coming to peck at you - you take a pistol and shoot the thing! H3N2 coming at you, H3N2 pistol to stop it.

A flu is described by two numbers, like the 3 and the 2 in H3N2. A typical seasonal flu vaccine protects against three strains of flu: Influenza A (H1N1), Influenza A (H3N2), and Influenza B, for example. [CDC website]

The H1N1 vaccine is like taking an entire arsonal to kill the little bird! Not too bad except for one problem - there is A LOT of collateral damage! If you fire a shotgun at the bird you might just kill an old lady standing nearby.

33 weapons... think their gonna kill their target? You damn right! If you get the FluMist vaccine you are being given 33 different live viruses to fight and pass on to your family and friends! Just say NO! For the world's sake.

I overlooked something...

The patent app says they will use between two and eight of the ingredients from the list I gave above. Oops.

"In particular preferred embodiments the composition or vaccine comprises more than one antigen, e.g. 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, or 8, in particular of different virus strains, subtypes or types such as influenza A and inlfuenza B, in particular selected from..." then the list I named in original post."




Everytime something seems scary or unbelievable a realistic explanation pops up. So confusing.
