Yea that pretty much what I said earlier, it's surely not blasphemous if it's being put on by a God-botherer. Good luck to him/her, I hope it sells out. It probably will now after all that free publicity.

If a % of Christians didn't MAKE their faith a joke and a laughingstock, no one else would, either.

"Tiocfáidh ár Lá" (our day will come)...we'd say it as "chocky ar la" too, but that's Irish Gaelic (pronounced "Gaylic"), and though very similar, it's not quite the same as Scots Gaelic (pronounced "Gahlic"). Plus as it's an old IRA slogan, saying it won't make you popular with a certain blue half of Glasgow

Yer no a very good terrorist then are ya !!!

I prefer pog mo thoine as a good insult myself. Best bumper sticker in West Aus once, no one knew wtf it was.. hehe

To be honest, I'm not all that well versed in the old Gaelic, it's all incomprehensible jibberish to me, but my wife did it at university and my daughter did it at school since she was 4. She absolutely hates it though, and now she's 17 she'll probably never speak it again! I'm more of your typical "giesannururglassarratwine" Scotsman, a bit like Billy Connolly before he met royalty and his head disappeared up his own erse.

Insane, I'd so love to be taught the language. Mums an old scot from glasgow, but her accent and her desire are long now Aussied - detrimental I think that is - I'd absolutely love to hear it to learn it.

You can't learn these things from written words. Much like the Nyungar language of south-west Perth. You have to hear it to know how to speak it.

Don't let it be forgotten is all I'll say in this off topic sideline !!

*edit to add - speaking of the Big Yin and religion, if you haven't heard it, check out "The Crucifixion" for the ultimate in religious humour. It even got him excommunicated from the Catholic church! (warning: contains broad Glasgow dialect and blasphemous humor).

Part 1

Part 2

Billy !!!! He's the funniest bugger your side of the pond mate. I'll always watch him with a grin from ear to ear. He just, in his absolute non caring way, grab ya and make ya laugh.. He is a Genius !!!! Him and my drinking tv buddy, Dylan Moran. Love 'em.

** Flamen heck, it's been a long time since I heard a scot accent so thick, he tones it down in his other sutff, this reminds me of being a kid and no understanding my mums visiting rellies... lol

Love it, haha, pity the rest of the world who'd need subtitles.

"pog mo thoin" aye I know what it means lol!

It's one of the only things I actually picked up from the two of them, typically enough. I think it's good to know that in as many languages as possible!

That's the point though, we are not offending anyone we are merely making lite of imaginary beings -

No victim - No crime

I have no objection to the portrayal the imaginary allah riding around naked on Mohamed flying horse and in Islams case any PR has to be good PR .

When these imaginary gods decide to hang out in the hood in human form they have to be prepared to be treated like any other human IE

If he sleeps with young men then he is no different to Michael Jackson, just a misunderstood icon that didn't have too much of a childhood, what with spending school days debating priests and all that, had to be tough.

Come to think of it MJ was also have had some serious issues with a sadistic father, could the moonwalk be a throwback to a waterwalk ?

Hm the plot thickens, the thread topic has opened a can of worms it would seem. Let us peruse the possible conspiracy further and hold fast to denying ignorance.

Oh and by the way Mambeth please refrain from threatening people, there something kind of Islamic about that.

Apparently the band the Pogues were originally called the Pog Mo Thoin (or phonetically pog mahone), but were told it's not on so they culled the name the the pogues.

I too like to at least attempt to learn languages. Arabic, German, Japanese, occasionally English. I just cant get them to stick.. Especiallly English..

My old man was the same.

Anyway, Transgender Jesus, bollocks I say !!! oO *on topic somethings or another* He never sooked once during his initiation into gods fraternity.

Oh now I .. back to Billy

I would say that I was suprised that the detractors of this play here have expressed such animosity towards the playwright and it's subject - but I'm not.

Let's re-examine the article:

Glasgay! producer Steven Thomson said: "Jesus Queen of Heaven is a literary work of fiction exploring the artist's own personal journey of faith as a transgendered person.

So, if we take this at its most literal meaning we can see that Jo Clifford - the playwright AND Christian, wrote this play to explore biblical liberation themes and so that Christ's life could be explored in a different lense. Your outrage is no different than that expressed by those Christians who have a problem with multicultural depictions of Jesus - such as black Jesus
Black Jesus
or Asian Jesus
Asian Jesus

The point is - Christanity is today just as it was yesterday the most xenophobic religion on the face of the earth. But, I digress.
When Christ died - he took all of our sins onto himself. If Tran-Sexuality is a sin, then Jo Clifford simply did her Christian duty in exploring this theme-for if Jesus did indeed take our sins upon himself then he was Trans-Sexual.

Now I can't get the image of Jesus moonwalking on water, crotch in hand, giving it serious "shao-moan-ah" out of my head.

"Mary Magdalene is not mah lover! She's just a harlot who claims that I am God's son...but I think she's just havin' fun...eeh-hee"

Do you have an objection to a very angry man who now wants to behead you - because he's a fanatic, not religious - because you enjoy this freedom?

Now, PLEASE consider, no xtian called for destruction from pisschrist. What happened from the Swedish mohammod cartoons?

THIS is the difference.

I too agree with you, laugh at the lot. But we're not allowed. And while the silly xtians are prime and ripe for the pickings, I'll just have to stand by and leg sweep the foot kickers who ignore that it's a one way street at the moment and attack the easy targets.

Believe me, I no more wish to offend anyone than they wish to offend me, but being hamstrung while people on this side of the fence are attacked mercilessly, is hard to let slip. This side bein the side that seems to have targets on it regardless.

Let the scales of offensiveness be equal; And then those who are crying for nothing will be seen for what they are.

...

Didbt really need to read the MJ crap which was pointless to the topic.

I agree with you on that.

Why don't they take the piss out of the jews, or the muslims. Oh i forgot those are hate crimes.

Don't worry, every subgroup in society gets (unnecessarily) laughed at, ridiculed, offended, threatened... once in a while. It's not just the Christians.
For example:

Muslims
Gays
Republicans
Democrats
Jews
Basicly everyone

And check out these guys

Although you can question the amount of maturity and good taste in certain satirical expressions, try place it in the right context. Freedom of speech allows making offending statements, just as it allows to express one's protest on it. People get offended on these boards also, even on a daily basis. Try feel happy for having that opportunity

As for Jesus: He probably wasn't the long-haired, bearded, Caucasian guy with his 5th Century looks either...

Peace

Thank you for giving us the real scoop.

As I see it, this all boils down to one very simple concept. Group A holds Belief A. Group B holds Belief B. Group A is "offended" by Belief B and thinks that Group B doesn't have any right to express Belief B because it's so offensive to Group A. In other words. "If you believe differently than I, you are my enemy". It's like some people think they OWN the idea of Jesus and his teachings. And if you explore his teachings in a different light, you are wrong, sacrilegious and offensive. I wonder what Jesus would have to say about that... Seriously.

I see a lot of this same kind of pattern on ATS and it is the result of the divide that so many claim was engineered by the PTB. They claim that we are being played like pawns, but they play their part willingly, spewing hatred at those with whom they disagree, for the simple fact that they disagree.

We have forgotten how to disagree without hatred and offense. Could you even do it if you tried? Have the PTB got you so in their grasp that you simply cannot disagree with someone without becoming angered and insulting that person? Don't you realize that you have been played? ARE being played?

To the Christians who are offended, take a moment to realize that you are CHOOSING to be offended. Not all Christians are offended, it's only the sub-group who are the pawns in this engineered divide who are allowing themselves to be offended and feel anger and hatred simply because someone believes differently than you do. This is an odd way of thinking, in my opinion, that everyone should respect the same things that you respect and have the same beliefs, values and even *think* the same way you do, or else they are the enemy, to be hated and criticized...

Where does that come from? Where does Jesus preach that? How far is your state of mind from Jesus' teachings? Why are you comfortable with that?

My mother taught me that we should try our very hardest to be like Jesus. He not only spoke of acceptance and love of ALL people, he demonstrated it by spending time with "sinners" and "outcasts"... he ATE with them and loved and accepted them, never judging them, even though they were "unclean". He demonstrated that God values all people equally. He never left anyone out. That's about as far from the hatred and ridicule that I see here as can be! If Jesus is real (which you apparently believe), I can't help but think that he's terribly disappointed at how you all are behaving because someone else doesn't share your beliefs.

Frankly, you're not a very good example of what "being a Christian" is all about. I am not a Christian, but I was raised by a REAL Christian. One who loved and accepted everyone and did her very best to be like Jesus. She opened her heart to people who didn't believe and showed by example what being a Christian meant. You guys are nothing like her, I'm sorry to say.

Sermon over.

Here -

"One of these days you will all regret what you have done here. "

The words are no different to any Islamic terrorist.

Whether any action is taken to back up the threat is entirely dependent on the individuals' conviction.

Whatever the source of the regret it can only be violence of some form against the individual, the fact that you seem to condone if not relish such a reprisal I find wholly repugnant.

The only real difference between Islamic extremest and many xtians, is that many xtians seem to suppress their need for violent retaliation.

I believe it was your jesusyahweh god that indicated that relishing these thoughts is no different to acting them out.

Well physically anyway, we know from history that this was not always so, and it has been reason that has kept this madness in check.

eventually people with dulled mind's and dimmed sensitivity toward there fellow man.

Disney will make a jesus christ vampire killer movie or similar.

it's one of oldest way of getting rid of a religion with a new one.

Why is it that people only get outraged about this kind of thing when the media tells them to, or tells them someone else is outraged by it? I haven't heard a single peep about this from anywhere. A gun-totin'-joint-smokin'-nazi-killin'-blue-streak-cursin' Jesus and no-one has been upset by it? Is it just because FOX news etc. haven't reported on it yet?

Personally, I thought it was great and I eagerly await the next issue...

I don't see how you can find humor in humilating our Lord Jesus.

There no sickness in logic, there is perhaps in the opposite
And this imaginary man is your lord not everyones.

The world is changing, you can't stop it
just deciding to get mad over it won't do anything

Jesus never existed
so what's wrong with depicting an imaginary maniacal man as a transexual
you wouldn't get mad if they made hitler a transexual would you?

30 years from now NOBODY will be religious

If it's the truth then please provide proof of this,

There is nothing friendly about the promise of violence against an individual should he/she not comply to your way of thinking.

If what you imply is acceptable behavior then muslims are justified in their threat (warning) to you .

All that remains is which deity decides to implement the threat first, seems like the Allah is a better communicator at the moment or xtians have less faith.

Why on earth should I be paranoid ? However I am very concerned about deluded people running around relishing more death and war.
