I agree. I have no argument with that statement at all. I'm not talking about what's "right" and "wrong". I'm talking about the law. Why? Because the OP said "this goes way beyond so called freedom of expression", and I'd like to know what that means. IMO, it IS freedom of expression.
Just because the Christians have their panties twisted in a knot about it doesn't mean it's "beyond freedom of expression".

The only reason you see it as a perfect valid form of expression is because you are not a christian.

This is where you're mistaken. I see it as a perfectly valid form of expression because I support the Constitution. I also supported the person who put the creche in the median of the road as a perfectly valid form of expression. It has nothing to do with religion.

Therfor your opinion means nothing as you are biased on the subject.

We are ALL biased on the subject. Otherwise we wouldn't have opinions on it. That's how that works.
My opinion is as meaningful as everyone else's in this thread or on this board.

This is nothing more then a kick between the legs of all christians.

Only because they choose to be offended by it.

This post will hurt your sensibilities and I fully expect it to be totally or partially removed.

I don't know why you think I would be sensitive to it OR why you think it would be removed. Wrong on both counts.

BTW, I'm flattered that you've been watching my posts.

Your opinion is invalid because you are not a christian. That means you do not agree with their beliefs, which makes your opinion biased.

Support the Constitution all you want. I'm not sure what the Constitution has to do with anything that happens in Glasgow though.

I'm glad you appreciate the fact that I follow your posts. It made my conclusion about you easy to come by.

Dude, I don't know if you know what biased means or not but umm....

You do know that because christians are well... christians it is them are the most biased.
Do you understand what i'm saying?

I'm not saying that who you are responding is not biased, but christians are more biased because they feel it directly affects them.

Do you understand?

On a sidenote.... this is pathetic!
With all the wars going on, net neutrality, Lisbon treaty, copenhagen treaty, abuse of rights and so on and so forth, people sit at home and do nothing.

but... a transexual jesus in a play???
Oh noooooooo
Time to rally and protest.

These people represent the lowest form of intelligence i'm very sorry to say.

Whatever you think.

My opinion has been made twice. It is straight forward and easy to understand. I do not see the need to state it a third time.

I'm sorry, but has any of you seen the play? I haven't, yet I'm willing to believe that the artistic intention behind the people involved in it is more than just shock. I believe using Jesus as a transexual is interesting and it may help the play to convey certain points about sexuality or about the society. On the outside the parallels are there: a person that suffers the attack of the society just for being who they are. So no, I actually doubt they are only trying to piss people off.

Unsurprisingly, Jesus, Queen of Heaven has provoked protests from Catholics (who are probably unaware that they’re subsidising this venture through income tax, council tax, lottery tickets etc).

blogs.telegraph.co.uk...

Ok, now that's just hilarious!!!

Not only are they driving loads of free advertising for the play by protesting they are also unknowingly funding it.

I thought that the main point of jesus was his teachings not his gender.

I agree with a person who previously posted, if you dont agree with it, dont watch it. Anyone see the interview with micheal palin and john cleese with a bishop, debating about the life of brian? The bishop condemmed it imediatly, without even watching it.

no real need to mention that the bishop lost completly

I haven't a religious bone in my body but can understand how this would upset Christians. It's not just to do with the transexual thing. Many people while accepting of gayness do not particularly want to see it 'celebrated' in the street. And that goes not just for people with religious convictions, it goes for others too. Call that homophobic if you want. But to me this is throwing down the gauntlet rather stupidly and pointlessly. Oh but it's for art! Yeah right...
When someone steps on my foot accidentally, I don't get upset. If someone stamps on my foot deliberately, they might just get a punch.
But just as well it's not Mohammed eh? A fatwa or 3 might be the least of our problems!

I recommend that anyone who is upset by this choose instead to be proud they live a world where people have the freedom to be as controversial as they like.

You're a Christian and think it's unfair that a play making fun of Jews or Muslims would be an uproar? Choose instead to be proud your religion is accepting enough to tolerate it.

Choose to be secure in your beliefs or choose to question your beliefs...anything else is insecurity about your beliefs.

Islam is NOT taking over!

You sure?

Let us hope!

I just think there bringing islam to the west to dilute it. To sexualise the women eventually, liek they did with the christians takes many eons, lol.

Transsexual Jesus sparks protests

news.bbc.co.uk

About 300 protesters held a candlelit protest outside a Glasgow theatre over the staging of a play which portrays Jesus as a transsexual.

The protest was held outside the Tron Theatre, where Jesus Queen of Heaven, in which Christ is a man who wants to become a woman, is being staged.

It is part of the Glasgay! arts festival, a celebration of Scotland's gay, bi-sexual and transsexual culture.

May their non reproducing selves dive into the ABYSSFUL FLAME HEAD FIRST for even disrespecting the SON in this way. This is PAGANISM IN ITS WEAKEST FORM, man this makes me mad.

Cursing someone is not the solution. While its done for shock value, like an above poster said, I am really glad that we are still living with a semblance of freedom left to talk about this. It could be far worse.

Divine Mother, who is truly First Cause/Prime Creator does have a wonderful sense of humor, and is working in all of to elevate everyone, for us all to evolve.

Its like this, there is one body, or one soul, that is the omniverse. We are all one, vibrating like cells at our own unique signatures. We are the Creator. We are trapped by slave drivers here who have controlled what you beleive, and disassociated you from your source. For how else do you enslave a creator or an aspect of God? Then they endorse fear and chaos and make our own minds so fractured with this that we jointly create hell on earth.

So, bravo for the rebels who make an issue and statement even if its not for everyone. This is not for me, and I won't see it, but.....the freedom is there isnt it, and its not like the religions on earth arent in place for control or anything.

Absolte genius!

Homosexuals have been persecuted by Christians for centuries and the second they put out a play bashing Jesus there's uproar from Christians. You couldn't make it up.

It's art, they have the freedom to do what they like within the law, don't like it, don't go see it. Problem solved.

As for Sharia law in the UK, that's nonsense, there was huge Anti-Sharia protest in London this weekend organised by Muslims who hate the idea of this country being corrupted by religion again and mock the mad mullahs who want it imposed.

Dear oh dear, I am actually amazed by this and a little taken aback, not only is this goes way beyond so called freedom off expression, this is another attack on christian faiths within the UK.

What!? How is this an attack?

Did you see the ignorance the protesters were exhibiting?

Another said: "God: My Son Is Not A Pervert."

As if Transexuality is perverted!

I'm appalled at the so called Christians who are protesting this...

I think it is have been ill judged for this to go ahead inthe first place. I wonder how many more protests there will be, or I do wonder if the vatican once again will condemm a so called art display in scotland. It does seem Scotland has been in a few religious storm recently.

What is wrong with your concept of freedom? I find this to be nothing short of Beautiful and the next evolution of Christianity, like many of it's evolutions before...

Those crazy radical Christians, lol

I do wonder what the play is about.

This is a great idea, I always thought of Jesus as gay, with or without some of the history supporting that. If some people want to think he was a transsexual or want to portray him that way, I think its fantastic. It really is spreading the Jesus message to those that might not have received it otherwise. If this helps them find Jesus Christ, then good for this play and our fellow brothers.

So if they were doing the same play on Allah, would you make the same comments, or would others in here on ATS. No they woud not, they would be crying out against it. Oh but it is fineto target Christinaity time and time again.

At least the protestors were not burning flags or giving out death threats like some other religions, whom have done in the past, over cartoons or books.
