Are you a recognizer?
I use this term because there really isn't a name for it. Well there is now i suppose.

Do you sometimes lock eyes with a total stranger and just have this weird feeling of recognition, and see they do too? The two people in the "eye lock" know about eachother that they are more aware then usual people.

Do you feel a lot of people feel incomplete to you, they feel like some levels of awareness haven't been connected yet?
Do you sometimes come across something you read that strikes a nerve in you? Your mind is saying that it can't be true but deep down you know it is true, even when your mind is screaming at you that it is not logical?

Do you ever have bits of info you recieve immediately synthesized into your knowledge because it feels more like a rejogging of memory instead of new info?

I am trying to find out how other people experience this and find a better explanation for it.
So feel free to share your stories.

Locster...yes I am aware of this...it happens to me frequently. The eye contact thing particularly. Sometimes if I get a chance to talk to people I recognise, it turns out to be a significant conversation. Soome have even turned into very good friends. The information thing is rarer, and is usually the result of a meditation, but sometimes can happen spontaneously.

On very rare occasions, these people turn out to be soulmates in a strictly platonic way. This kind of recognition is almost unmistakable. Much stronger.

Will be watching to see who replies. Star and flag from me, cos I though I was the only one.

When I do usually make eye contact with someone, I usually feel a sense of blankness about a lot of people. There are some people, though, that feel as if there is something more to them that's worth looking into, but too much of the time it's always me having interactions with "blank" people.

Not that I'm a great guy at all or anything, totally the opposite. Perhaps it's the INFJ popping out in me, I dunno.

I don't think there is anything to it, really. I'm sure everyone picks up on these feelings, only if they choose to.

Nice to see a thread about this. The eye contact and recognition phase is always a strange happening. For me it seems like time stretches for a moment and all my senses and focus are concentrated on that person, in the process releasing many flows of energy throughout the body which send and receive tons of data through non verbal micro-expressions, and that all in a split second.

Furthermore, a LOT of people feel incomplete to me... That even kinda depresses me but I realize now that for most people of this era it's not to be...
I can't help but stare at people sometimes and wonder what the hell they're doing...

Another thought I'd like to share are kids drawings. In my opinion, parents or people don't take much attention to it, because it's just a kid's drawing and hey, it's cute. But did you ever take the time to THINK about what this kid is drawing and why? And where it came from? I remember sitting in class, looking in awe how my mates could work that pencil (I really sucked at it). I still remember those drawings somehow. Of course you would see the common draws of a house and daily things, but there were also knights, dragons, other mythical like objects, abstract figures. Some would express romantic love, others pure evil, maybe even sadistic... So where does that all come from? Are memories and experiences of past lives imprinted in our genes, dna? And is this also responsible for recognizing a 'stranger'?

I'm eager of reading your thoughts about this

Hello Staafke (sounds like a dutch name),

Indeed to me it feel like a lot of "data" is going back and forth in just a second that seems like minutes. I have a hard time looking in to "incomplete" peoples eyes. Feels like you gaze in and there is nothing there.

Watching little kids draw is very interesting, funny you should bring that up.
The very young ones who just seem to scratch around, do seem to have a system or something, they seem very adament to wich color goes where and when a drawing is done.
I think that is directly related to the inspiration "grown-ups"get just out of nowhere.

My theory on this is that the brain does not store the memories, it's just a hub. Your soul is like the internet, and your brain is the browser.
crappy analogy i know

Some great replies here....I though I was so weird, but apparently I'm not....

I have a little game I like to play at work, and I see thousands of people every day....I put out a message that I want people like me to make contact, and to really look at me...then there is that exchange of energy and information, and they are gone. It's amazing who picks up on it.

Will read more in the morning, when I'm a little more alert!

Yes can relate to this too!
I think maybe it is because we have been here before with those people and we know them...not as they are now,but we have an inner ability to be able to know who they are now...if that makes sense

I often have that....and actually met and married who I believe is my soul mate...from the moment we met it was as if we had been together before, maybe not as husband & wife...but certainly together before...

In general I think we are able to recognize how far along others are in their development based on how far along we are in our own development.

The more you develop your own awareness, through meditation and learning and whatever else, the more you will also become aware of others and of the same level of awareness in others, even if you never noticed it before.

I am constantly amazed, as it seems the more I learn, the more I am woken up to the fact that others have been there before and show it every day in their behavior. Not everyone, but still many people anyway, especially artists and musicians.
