Anyone have any more links about this? Nothing on CNN, MSNBC, Rueters, or Fox.
Anyone know why the Ukrainians are calling this " the California flu'? Or A/N1N1? Seems odd.

Haha its not very significant. I hear people calling it Mexican flu and also Sviniyachi Hrip(Swine flu in Ukrainian). As far as I understand Swine Flu news became mainstream only after it hit California. Thats why the name stuck.

Containment is probably one of the best defenses we have right now. Unfortunately it is hard to see how it can really be contained 100%.

Perhaps the travel measures (restrictions) will at least slow it down in terms of spread; giving more time for other countries to prepare their own strategies.

Our modern world with such easy global mobility for man, unfortunately has the same "benefit" for man's diseases.

So far there is no indication that it's a mutation of swine flu. One death has tested positive and it is likely the other deaths will be down to swine flu also.
The reaction about closing schools etc is typically the step a country takes when it is first infected.
There does seem to have been a high death rate, but could this not be a reflection of health provision and living standards?
Ie as in Mexico.

Nothing to worry about here folks, just an attempt at mass genocide most likely.
Same old, same old.
Move it along.

It looks as though other countries may help with a quarantine, even if Ukraine does not imposes one.

"Poland to shut border with Ukraine after flu outbreak?"

Poland’s health authorities are to decide whether extra security measures should be taken after the outbreak of a flu epidemic in Ukraine.

Here in Ukraine the progression is different. There is a sudden onset of fever, pain etc, then respiratory and cardiac failure within a day or two. Its like 2-3 days between between onset of symptoms and death. The list has been posted here on this thread by someone. You can scroll back and find it.

This would explain the USA reasently declaring state of emergency. It is like it was expected, according to the information on this thread it is a fact that some people were expecting this. Perfect timing boys!
Think about it, no one really understands why Obama declared state of emergency and now this..

Well, if that was indeed the case, I would venture to say that blows away the idea of a evil uncaring government...to start something proactively for safety verses a slow reactive movement.

But, chances are, they simply called the state of emergency over swine flu to contrast the bush administrations lack of action over Katrina. I doubt it was that mysterious and white hat...more transparent gray hat to appear more caring and attentive...just good timing imo.

That sounds more like how the 1918 flu went.
Stay safe and keep us posted!

The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) is monitoring Polish-Ukrainian border crossings. “People who are travelling to Ukraine are being informed about the flu hazard and instructed how to protect themselves against it,” says Tomasz Miszczak from GIS.

ok, so...if your in the Ukraine

Dont leave home unless critical...wear facemasks and plastic gloves when out. use the phone verses visit...talk to people through the door (hang a sign on the front door of how you wont open it due to potential infection), sit back and be calm...oh, and make sure your family is also following the rules.

Hopefully it will die out as quickly as its coming on, and should it start appearing over in my state here, I will be very much a shut in for a little while.

Captain Trips at it again.

I love that book. It's cool to read about how society would break down and come back together without actually having to go through the ordeal yourself, lol, which is waaay better I think.
