Does anyone besides me wonder if this is the start of something wider involving the predicted Israeli strike on Iran?Having Israel busy with Hezbolloh on the northern flank could complicate their Iran plan a fraction.

I think I've heard this tune before... let's see if I can remember the lyrics; a rocket is fired into northern Israel from Lebanon, either by Lebanese Palestinian sympathizers or Hamas, Israel relaliates with mortar and artillery strikes, leveling a couple of buildings, 50 more rockets are launched into northern Israel from Lebanon, the IDF mobilizes armored support for its troops and air strikes are called in, the U.N. starts crying foul, a fragile cease-fire is signed, and six to nine months of a teetering silence while U.N. diplomats talk middle-east peace talks before the song starts all over again, right? Don't think it's the end of the world, it's just another sad example of people who love hearing the same song over and over again.

I gotta good song too, it goes like this:

Mossad Operatives and infiltrators attack Israel (itself)....while the Western news agencies scramble to link it all to "Fundamentalist Terrorism" , at a time when Israel is not looking so good to the world (U.N.)...it all gives Israel a chance to collectively punish civilians with the latest in American made/bought weaponry because the world must not see Israel as an aggressor....millions of American's get the "bad bad bad Muslims" bumper sticker pinned to their foreheads while watching "Dancing with the Stars"....we cry about nukes in Iran through some weird osmosis...the U.N. cries about it with no real power to stop it...and every time Israel needs the world to look the other way...rockets seem to appear out of nowhere on cue... we call it "The Mid East Crisis"..and the story goes on and on and on.....

Hmmm.
I'll leave my thoughts on the above post to myself.

Its probably a good idea to keep those comments to yourself unless you have the "priviledge" of living there alongside that "Hmmm." post's author. Fortunately your snide response shows your colors and no further explanation is needed.

When Lebanon grows a set of melons and starts addressing the misbehavior of its inhabitants, Isreal can consider turning over the policing actions to them. Since this is the umpteenth time its happened, Lebanon can be labled as completely incompetent when it comes to controlling rocket launches from within their own borders.

It is not Isreal's problem that they own bigger guns than the hezbollah rocketeers is it? Do you feel that the IDF forensics team should put together a report indicating what was hit, what was thrown and how much damage was done followed by a recommended response with an identical rocket, in an identical area, yielding duplicate damage and casualties? Of course not. The real world doesn't work that way. The only bits of information needed are the intent and the trajectory so that the threat can be dealt with in an authoritive manner.

Its not college, or tv, or some fictional novel. Rockets being fired are intended to kill, maim, and destroy. A military response is never going to resemble a game of Patty-Cake-Patty-Cake like so many of you feel it should. If you fear being turned to charred jelly, don't throw firecrackers on Isreal's side of the fence.
Regardless of who is right, there is no excuse for not knowing the consequences of these actions.

And on the special collectors edition of that song, you can hear about 75% civilian death toll rates for the "dirty brown Arabs" compared to the % 0.01% civilian rates for our good ole Democratic allies Israel, and how it's all a travesty. It's a classic tune, sing along everyone.

Zionist Barney sings it:

I love bombs...bombs love thee....won't you hide and run and flee...with a press of a button....and a JDAM on your face...we know that we run this place...

Either you were just fell off the turnip truck, or you have a very limited, very selective memory.

Hamas and Hizb'allah take turns attacking Israel. Since the neighboring nations apparently took enough ass-kickings, Lebanon hosts Hizballah and of course Gaza's market is cornered by Hamas.

Recall that from Gaza, it started out with the occasional rocket. Then it progressed. Then it got a bit crazy, and there are threads still on ATS that document the warnings Israel gave to Hamas for weeks on end, to stop the rockets, or face retaliation.

I guarantee. Someone shoots at me, even if they miss, I'll hunt them down and kill them.

They take a shot at my family, I'll hunt them down, kill them, and then go after their family and friends.

This is to provide a clear demonstration of the cost/benefit principle.

Hamas and Hizballah are too stupid for normal retaliation principles to sink in, so it's best overdone.

That's the downside of stupidity. It takes more convincing to get through the dullness of stupid minds.

We'll watch it, and see if it continues, or if it was a lone knucklehead.

Israel has some new stuff since the last time Hizballah decided to play. Would be curious to see just how devastating the new developments can be with actual targets.

Fox confirms rocket fired from Lebanon towards Northern Israel. It's not on the website yet, but they just announced it on Fox News. There was only one so far, so might not mean anything other than the usual MidEast Nutso stuff.

And to the Webbot/Timewave folks - could this be the "event" we've been waiting for this week?

Just throwing it out there.

edit for rushed spelling

2nd edit of title due to trying to please the critics, even though I just put what was known at the time... geeeeeeez.

Webbot =

1. Stating an event that is to happen within a certain criteria.

2. People relating an event with some shocking correlation (even though there is several different events that could correlate to such a statement)

It's quite illusive and does not predict anything in my opinion.

I still think this was Iran saying attack us and our friends on your doorstep will unleash hundreds of missles, not just one.Not to mention Hamas.Lest we forget possible U.S.,Russian,Chinese and others in an Israeli strike.I.E.WWIII.So please rehash the same old tired arguments while the maniacs of the world warm up the i.c.b.m.s.

Yes they can kill people. But even when Hamas sends streams of the things flying onto Sderot, or Hezbolla goes crazy with their katushyas... People usually do not die Saying "People can die from rockets" is a lot like saying "People die from deer" - Yes, it's perfectly possible, it just doesn't happen very often.

And no rocket has ever been "shot at an elementary school" - they're unguided. The militant groups park a few of the things on their side of the line, point them towards Israel, and light the fuse.Where they go from there is out of anyone's hands except for prevailing winds and basic chemical reactions. About a third of these things never even make it into Israel, and either smash into the same turf they started from, or just go dud and fall out of the sky.

The Crips kill more people every year, and do so far more efficiently, than hezbollah or Hamas have managed in the last decade.

This happens everyweek on these borders, so no need to panick.
But, It seems Israel has run out of its reserve of human organs.
Since during the Gaza war, the world black market was flooded with human organs coming from Israel... huh? makes you wonder from where they are taking those organs?
So now, they where able to send just one secret Israeli agent to the very tight-controlled-hizbullah-south-Lebanon in order for him to fire a rocket on Israel so that they can accuse hizbullah and on top of that the Lebanese not-born-yet-still-under-negotiation-new-government and then they wage a full retaliation in order to refill their israeli-organs-fridges to boost again one more additional sector of their underground economy... thank you... Organs were even sold in US and EU... what a shame.
Also, hizbullah are not so innocent as they have already infiltrated the Lebanese parliament with a few seats for them in order to link their abilities to the voice of the people.
But who's paying the price the most? It's the neutral Lebanese (Christians and muslims all together) and the Neutral Israeli people too...

If Israel wanted a "false flag" attack, do you think they would have fired one rocket into Israel? I doubt it. It's just normal over there for these things to happen.

And that's what's so interesting about the middle east... I like how you can have people in a country attacking another country, but the "country" is just a base of operations for the militants...
You've got a country indirectly launching attacks on another country. So stupid. Then the occupied country is too weak to eject the hostile forces, or are in league with that country secretly, what a nice mess.

I could just imagine if say Drug Cartels in Mexico launched attacks into the United States, would we be allowed to retaliate?

Like Russia VS Georgia last year.
And I just love how the situation is lessened based on the scale of the problem...

Here in the United States, the smaller you are the more severly and easily you are held accountable for your actions... and the larger you are the less accountable you are held accountable for your actions...

This is very naive post. Rockets from Hizbollah/Hamas killed hundreds of Israeli civilians in all the years. Not one or two. And each unguided rocket that you surely can make in your back yard (with explosives and stuff, capable of flying tens of kilometers, piece of cake. Firecracker.) causes panic and interrupts normal life. Once a month it is tolerated. But if it happens several times a day it completely shuts down any life in a city.
And as for targeting - it is not hard to target large area - like Shderot or Kiryat Shmone. Nobody knows where it will fall - in school or elsewhere. Sure. But it will fall in the area packed with people. And so far not knowing where it will fall did not stop both Hamas and Hizbollah to launch more then 10000 rockets. If you accept to tolerate it falling on heads of your civilians and precious yourself - it is your personal problem. I would rather face

look you rascist weirdos...
One rocket doesn't mean war... War means war... The last war between Lebanon and Israel (Started by Israel several thousand lebanese dead) was started by Israel.
Ad I don't think Hamas would have fired the rocket, they're in PALESTINE, not Lebanon...
Maybe you're thinking of Hezbollah?
Get your facts straight before ranting offensie crap in public.

And yes, it probably was them (although I have no idea, I'm just guessing). Good on them.

Also, it was proved by the UN in the last war that Israel used expeimental, illegal weapons, like phosphorous bombs and (of course) depleted uramium munitions, which I find absolutely abhorrent, and genocidal.
regardless of who is right or wrong in these arguments, I think they can be settled without the use of such disgusting means.

How exactly last war in Lebanon was started by Israel? Hizbollah kidnapped Israeli soldiers while firing rockets on Israeli North. So what Israel was supposed to do? Ask for more of this?
Result was over-reaction for sure. But you cannot blame Israel for retaliating.
I am pretty sure that if Israeli forces now will kidnap Hizbollah members while bombing South Lebanon you would claim that Hizbollah started the war by retaliating.

You miss one BIG point.

Israel has been blockading Gaza, spying on Lebanon, spying on the U.S., causing assassinations in Iran, etc.

Stop trying to make excuses for the Zionists that changed their names from Nazi about several decades ago.

See the bigger picture.

Israel blocks and imprisons 1.5 million people, so do the math, of course they are going to have millions of people hating them.

Essentially you can't believe a thing the Israeli government ever says.
So we get the story of Palestinians getting their water cut off and the world is outraged at ths act THEN all of a sudden hey a rocket attack how convenient.

I guess they cut off the water to Palestinians because of rocket attacks now. This is a distraction story i would bet money on the fact that Israel launched the rocket at themselves and are blaming Lebanon.

FALSE FLAG baby oldest tactic of war.

Don't believe anything the Isareli government says they are crooks and cheats and don't care about their own people much less anyone else.
Israeli people needs revolution in that country to remove those criminals.

Dude your right, basically the Israeli Zionist government starves the palestinians expecting a response this is what they do when they want a reaction. It was the main cause for the incursion into the west bank last time, they cut off food, and water, and hamas let off a stack of rockets in retaliation.

Then the israelis bombed the tunnels, hamas responds.

People think that its mainly weapons going through the tunnels, its actually mainly fresh water and food... there isnt enough supplies within palestine to keep them alive, thats the Israeli objective to starve them to death or to dehydrate them to death.

the world is slowly waking up to this, and in a few more years time AIPAC will be useless, and J-street will be the new lobbiest group in the USA forcing the zionist regieme out. Or allowing the USA to sit back and watch Israel get obliterated by Turkey and Iran.

(yes you heard me... Turkey hates Zionists too! in fact more than Iran does).

We can hope J-street get enough momentum to force AIPAC out and get their greedy hands out of hollywood, and the media, not to mention pepsi.

*waiting for the zionists to start calling me an anti-semite*

WAIT... omg I didnt say a single anti-semetic thing at all!
