Topic: How to use neuroscience to become your Avatar!

wired.com news article [source].

Explanation: Sorta gives creedance to the "your not limited to residing in just your own body" spiritual crowd!

Personal Disclosure: I hope ATS will allow members to download themselves to the ATS wetware servers when the technology and training techniques allow for OH&S compliant soul transfers!

Edited to add "What are my fellow ATS members thoughts and feelings on this?".

What the researchers have found, they say, is a method for allowing humans to better inhabit non-flesh-and-blood consciousness.

Very interesting indeed, I guess we are moving to a future where we are conscious but without this body. I think when that time comes, people will realize that consciousness is passed on as I explain here.

P.S. I'll join your thread and help discuss your logos based OP there but I'll leave this open so people can post their pathos [feeling] based opinions here and also leave it as a venue to discuss non-computer based consiousness inhabitation such as with prosthetics, RC combat drones or other mind-extended body perceptions such as what crane drivers and other vehical pilots can experience when in the groove and doing their thing!

Virtual reality is going to be the next big video game, within the next 50-80 years we will have it i imagine. Japanese scientists can already reproduce shapes and letters from signals in the brain...if we can insert them instead of taking them out and putting them on a screen, the possibilities are endless. Reality is just the brain sending biochemical signals, so i don't see how it would be "sad" or wrong to live in a VR world...one in which you can create yourself. Too bad i'll be dead before it happens.

I definetly feel that is possible. I always have thought your mind was a seperate entity and with practice, you can leave your body just as you leave your house.

With the way science is going I wouldnt be suprised if sooner or later we were all half robot. This reminds me of the movie Surrogates. If your interested in this topic I highly suggest renting it.

No doubt science is interupted in the human life in different areas. But it should be in limits. In this era, the authorities avoid this fact of violation of human rights on the name of technology.www.thecompetence.blogspot.com...

Actually it doesn't. It demonstrates an illusion generated by the brain. Your mind doesn't leap into the mannequin and experiences it as it's body.
