Political Cartoons in Israel

Not sure if this goes here, folks. Do what you must with it.

I am a huge fan of political cartoons. I came across a site earlier with a bunch of Israeli cartoons. I thought they were very interesting and could shed a light on the US relationship with Israel.

I for one had no idea that Obama was being portrayed so sheepishly and ignorantly. I think I'm offended.

Israel is just butthurt that he is not giving in to all of their demands. It is time Israel became a responsible state, seriously.

I dont like these particular images. But since they are all from the same source one cant make the statement that this "reflects Israeli opinion".

Some were funny and some weren't.

Obama supporters are incapable of finding humor in something that pokes fun at Obama, no matter how comical it is.

I guess that's the only good thing I see coming from this administration. Is that it has given comedians a lot more material to work with, even more than Bush did in 8 years

My own personal view of how I see Obama. Just remember, When you hear the phrase of the day "Republicans are Fearmongers" then we all have to scream loudly like a bunch of children (then Obama laughs and snorts like Peewee Herman)

Poor Israel!

You can do what you want when you stop taking billions of dollars in aid from us tax paying Americans.

It CAN be argued that these images aren't representative of the feelings of the majority of Israelis, the same as those published in America have no certain voice for the American people.

I just thought it interesting to get a different perspective on what the folks in Israel are exposed to as far as propaganda with a slant against US policies and leaders. We get to see plenty of American satire.

These cartoons are HILARIOUS !!!! I don't find them insulting or extreme at all. They're not showing anything sick or twisted, or insulting to anyone except a few leaders and political parties. I like them.

From the cartoons, it appears someone has Obama figured out.

It's been months, and yet still amateur hour at the White House.

And I thought Biden didn't have a clue.

You do understand that these images are all drawn by the SAME individual? Israelis... Exposed.....
Why it is all in English then? 3 largest newspapers in Israel are iמ Hebrew. We are weird that way. Face it -you found one author on extreme right site and you do not like his works. This is all that happened.

Yeah, I realize that it's only one artist and one source..I can't read Hebrew. ...so, maybe you can shed some light on the validity of the Israel National News....since it's not in Hebrew, is it not to be trusted?

(I really wasn't very offended, I LOVE political cartoons.) What really interests me is what these cartoons portray. They DO seem to portray a lack of trust in the policies of the current US administration.

I read on that same sight that the Israelis approval rating of Obama is 4 percent. Over 50 percent think he is more 'pro-Palestinian' than 'pro-Israel.'

Do you have any insight on that for us?

I do not know what is approval rating of Obama in Israel. I am not sure why Obama will need to know his approval rating anywhere besides US, but if it is measured somehow - i do not know the figures. My uneducated guess will be higher then 4 percent for sure. Pretty low though never the less.
As for Israeli National News site - it is even less "national" then US federal bank is "federal". Here you can read a little on it.

By the way - they have some good news there. Just be aware that this site is pretty skewed and represents a relatively small sector of Israeli public. Right flank of right wing.

Here's the deal: In Israel if you aren't blindly pro-Israel you are either stupid, a jew-hater, a terrorist, or a Nazi... They're very tolerant people.

But seriously, enough with our tax dollars going over there, tell them to fight the good fight on their own. Most of our problems in the world stem from 60 years of blind support, and it needs to end.

Oh, and by the way, I'm a jew.

of course...because we democrats are all just like you think we are...you are all knowing and all seeing. what a joy it is to read your posts, and you never have to worry about getting a warning, because your on the right side of the arguement. you have shown yourself to be thoughtful, intelligent, reasonable, and logical, kind of a fair & balanced type of person. it's a wonder you have not been elected to a political office in your area. i think you should really keep giving the democrats the real truth, as you only know it. you have been instrumental in providing such valuable information to ATS.

Still an interesting perspective on how at least some (I'll assume the more hawkish) members of Israeli media see Obama. I suppose it's as accurate a measure of Israels overall view of Obama as one of our own (American) hawkish conservative media outlets, such as the New Republic.

If this is how they preceive Obama then it's an indicator they feel he is not bending over backwards kowtowing to them, although eventually he, like every president we've had, will do just that.

Apparently Israeli hawks think WE should be fighting their wars for them, as the aggressors against their Arabic neighbors in the middle east. Obviously, political cartoons reflect the publishers editorial bias pretty accurately.
