South Vancouver Island residents are puzzled by a recurrent loud rumbling noise that some liken to the sound of a jet, and others to an earthquake
noise expert has confirmed the mysterious sound disturbing some residents of a northwest neighbourhood, but finding the source of the hum is proving difficult.
a phenomenon that nobody can explain troubles residents..
"It feels like there's a helicopter going over your house and I open the door and there's nothing."
The landslide that smothered a stretch of Highway 410 Sunday could be among the largest ever to hit a state roadway, but its cause remains a mystery
He sometimes hears it 3-4 times a day, and he's not alone. People all over the Capital Region have been asking the same question: what IS that noise? It's louder in some areas than others, and more annoying. "Yesterday morning before work about 9:15am it was deafeningly loud, scary loud. It sounds like a continuous explosion with rockets attached to it" says Fairfield resident Robert Jeanes.
There has been some speculation the noise is originating out on the water, where the U.S. has been conducting seismic testing. But 'A' News contacted the Living Oceans Society Wednesday, which says the testing should now be complete, and it would be unlikely to make such a racket in Victoria anyway.

Has anyone bothered correlating the witness testimony alongside USGS data?
It might turn up something interesting... or not.
