Turkey cancels joint drill over Israel's Gaza crimes

Link to Article

Turkey has canceled a planned joint military drill with Israel to protest against Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip earlier this year.

Turkey informed Israel of cancellation of the Anatolian Eagle exercise last week, Jerusalem Post reported on Sunday.

The US, Italy and NATO air forces were also to participate in the air force drill, which was to be held this week.

Turkey has declared that it has canceled the drill because the planes that Israel was going to send were, in all likelihood, the very same ones that bombed the Gaza Strip during Operation Cast Lead, the report said.

Now the question has to be asked, will Turkey still allow Israel to use it's airspace in the event that Israel proceeds with rumoured plans to attack Iran's nuclear facilities?

It would seem a little bit strange if Turkey takes such a strong stand against Israel's alleged war crimes commited in Gaza at the beggining of the year, but still go's ahead and let's Israel use it's airspace to attack Iran.

Apparently the US is angry with Turkey for banning Israel from participating in Anatolian Eagle exercise, and has cancelled their contribution to the joint operation.

Very interesting turn of events indeed. Most people were suggesting that Israel would simply fly through Turkish airspace to bomb Iran. It would be duplicitous of Turkey to allow any such thing now. Cool!

Alleged? I think it is very well documented.

Well they will have to allow NATO of the useof its Airspace, with Turkey being a part of NATO.

I do not see Them refusing Israelif the US puts pressure on them to do so. About high time a country took a stand over what Israel is doing in Gazza. Just a pitty there is not more like Turkey who condemms Israel for its actions.
