Woah! 600,000 are anticipated by the NYPD to be Stopped and Frisked in a year? That's about 1 in 10 people within the NYPD jurisdiction! That means
every decade everyone will have undergone at least one Stop & Frisk by the Police.
The part that is most disturbing is that when they Stop & Frisk you, you are added to a Police Database (supposedly for purposes to ensure that the
Police are not Racially Profiling) alongside actual criminals. Innocent until proven Guilty huh?
Why not just set up permanent checkpoints just like Airport Security that every day citizens have to go through on their way to and from work...along
with metal detectors at every entrance and doorway...and security cameras on every block?
All of this because of a 1968 Supreme Court decision that established the benchmark of "reasonable suspicion".
I guess this proves that when you give a leashed dog enough slack in the leash they are going to run with it. Sounds like it's long overdue to pull
that slack back in and keep our dog on a shorter leash before our dog gets too far out of our reach.
