Answer the question, how do you patrol for illegal immigrants?
as far as i'm concerned patrolling for illegal immigrants by definition equates to racial profiling.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a jack booted Nazi that should be stripped of power.
INS should handle all immigration issues with local government officials role being that of support.

LOL come to AZ, and you will see my friend, it IS racial profiling , they ARE stopping people for just being Mexican. In fact they hang out in the heavy populated Mexican area of Guadalupe, and pull over EVEYONE who looks Mexican, in fact I drove through there and got pulled over because I had my bandanna on, I guess I looked a little Mexican, though I am Italian and Irish. As soon as they saw my last name was not Mexican and looked closer at me, I was let go with a warning about dressing like that and driving through there.
Bottom line they are profiling. No the question for debate is, whether you think profiling is good or bad, IF it catches criminals. The problem is it is a slippery slope and a violation of what our bill of rights stands for. Remember when the framers wrote this, there was no such thing as illegal immigration, everyone was welcome.

Its simple, he is acting outside of his jurisdiction. Its not his job to check for immigration status of someone that hasn't committed a crime, if he was to setup road checks to check who is an undocumented alien I bet everyone would love that right?
