Could this be too literal? Are we supposed to just send in the whereabouts of each ring when we get the clues deciphered? If not, only people who live within the general vicinity of the rings will be able to "play the game".

I don't think we have to actually go to the locations. If we have to, I can only reach London

What I'm interested to know (and I know Masked Avatar was interested too) is, when all this is over, and the 4 rings are "found", will members have the possibility to buy "repliquas" of those quite good looking rings?

Or will there really be only 4 of them?

The only critizism i have is the way my attention was drawn to this thread.

In all caps, bold, and red letters in the middle of the top of the main page were the letters "OMG!". Not until about halfway down the first page of quotes did i realize this was in the rings forum. Simon's post really should not have been so prominent on the main page because as the owner of this site i was inclined to take him completely seriously. if this was a bid to get more people involved in the rings game, that should have been stated.

Now i'll shut up and let you get back to speculation...

No one asked for critizsm, from anyone. He asked for help.

Its Simons site, He can do what every he wants.

Did you read the post where it said, if you didnt have anything good to say about the search dont say anything?

Anyway, Is this a real world search? Or a net search?
Forgive me if I missed it, in the reading.

And for -5-, You where atleast watching yesterday, care to indulge us, with what you think.

I have been wondering this too. If it is a real world search then I take it that only those who are near the rings have any real chance of participating in the search, and also if this is a real world search how can Simon be certain that those who find the rings will turn them in?

RIGHT NEPRATARI -

it wouldn't be fair to most ATS members if this was a real world search, that's why my guess is that it's an online game / search only, so that all may particpate at least that makes the most sense.

wonder if we'll get clarification on this from a Mod or Simon ?

(game on)

I'm sorry I can't give more detail right now -- you know everything I know.

I suspect these rings are indeed hidden and need to be found. If you find them, they're yours to keep. But the words are obviously important somehow.

As soon as I get the rest of the information, I'll post it here.

Thank you for your patience.

(game off)

I should have read the rules again. Earlier I had posted a picture with a hand having a gold ring on it and a grasshopper in it. I was in the wrong. As, it says here in the rules....

"Any member discovered mimicking actual game clues, came personalities, or any other aspect of the Rings Game who are not authorized to do so will face immediate ejection from all access to the AboveTopSecret.com domains and forfeit any and all game prizes.
AboveTopSecret.com does not guarantee the availability of randomly discovered prizes nor will not be involved in any dispute between parties claiming first discovery. "

I hope I didn't mislead anyone. I'm playing the game just like anyone else.

Hey...when I first read the rules on May 2nd, I copied them into my documents. It says to refer back to the rules often. But now, I can't find where they are.

Can someone please post a link to where they are?

Subject: THIS IS NOT A GAME!

FIND THE RINGS IS NOT A GAME. THESE RINGS THEY WOULD HAVE YOU FIND FOR THEM CONTAIN ANCIENT SECRETS THAT ARE NOT INTENDED FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE THEM. THE PERPETRATORS OF THIS "GAME" ARE ACTING AS AGENTS WHO WOULD USE THE UNION OF THE RINGS FOR ILL-ENDS. YOU SHOULD NOT REVEAL YOU HAVE FOUND THE RINGS TO THEM. IT WOULD BE VERY DANGEROUS FOR YOU AND THE OTHERS WHO FIND THEM. THERE ARE MYSTERIES AND POWERS BEHIND THE ORIGINS OF THESE THAT MODERN MEN CANNOT AND WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND. THE UNION MUST NOT OCCUR BY THE PERPETRATORS OF THIS "HUNT" WHO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE FUN. THE REASON THE "CLUES" ARE NOT ALL COMING AT ONCE IS BECAUSE THEY DO NOT HAVE ALL THE CLUES THEMSELVES. THEY OBSERVE YOUR PROGRESS IN SOLVING WHAT THEY HAVE FOUND, WHICH IN TURN LEADS THEM TO THE NEXT CLUES. YOU ARE DOING ALL THEIR WORK FOR THEM. DO NOT AID THEM. IT IS DANGEROUS TO DO SO.

This is what I got in U2U mail not long ago?

Did anyone else get it???

Russian

according to the official rules, "Participants must be 18-years old or older as of May 1st, 2004 to receive the AboveTopSecret.com "Find The Rings" event grand prize." does this mean that it's possible for somebody under 18 to find the ring and keep it, but just not get a prize other then the ring or does it mean that nobody under the age of 18 can get the ring?

I have been doing some reading on this Find the Rings contest, and this mysterious enigma "5". I beleive he has nothing to do with this, he is just here to throw people off. Now how can I say that with any confidence, well as I looking at www.findtherings.com site, I found a little hidden message, which sheds some light on "5".

What is it with that 20 12 2012?

That is like saying December 20, 2012.

Or like 2012 doubled. Are we in the future right now? And this here is an instance of 2012? And then when we get to December 20, 2012, it's going to be the same thing all over again? Like a great big Deja Vu?

Or is that the number of...the beast!
(a post? a time on a post? a date and the post?)

there was a post by "1" of "the four" in a thread awhile back that had 20 12 2012 as its date its the last thread in the post

www.abovetopsecret.com...

it is obviously a clue in the game.

that is why im guessing that the rings cannot physically be found in the four locations. If a minor finds a ring, yet cannot win anything for turning it in, what is their motavation (except for "breaking the seal and saving the world" or whatever the game says will happen) and the possiblitly of someone just not turning theirs in would be risk.
