SGU will debut in Stargate’s usual Friday night 9:00PM EST slot on Space (CND) and SYFY (USA), with an encore at 11:00PM EST.

I've seen every episode of Stargate so I'll definitely be watching!
Plus O'Neill makes guest appearances, that alone is worth it.

Atlantis could have been a lot better than it was so I hope they don't drop the ball on this one too.

SG1 is my favourite TV series of all time, I'm counting on SGU for my winter season TV entertainment

I really liked it
I was skeptical when I saw that there would be younger characters in the mix but so far it seems to work.

I hope they keep the mood a little darker than on Atlantis, I thought they really messed that up and made it seem too colourful and happy. More along the lines of BSG.

It looks like Richard Dean Anderson gained about 30 pounds, in the few shots that he was in, anyone else notice his new chin(s)?

Oh, man. The first thing I said to hubz was "oh my god RDA is chunky!" I was shocked. He's been a sex icon for like 30 years. Loved him in MacGuyver and LOVED his grey hair in SG1. But I was a little saddened to see he's not quite as sexy as he used to be.

As for the pilot? Loved the first 45 minutes of it but really struggled thought the next hour. I dunno - seemed like too much drama and not enough Science or Syence as SyFy now calls it apparently. But of course the last 10 minutes had me hooked.

TOTALLY want to see the next episode on the planet. Kind of sandy like Abydos? And I really like Carlyle and the geeky kid Eli (don't know his real name.)

I did mention to hubz that there are more and more people with each series. SG1 had like 5 main characters. Atlantis had like 7 main characters, and Universe seems to have a multitude of them. YIKES! LESS IS MORE.

It could go either way...to something really good, or to something mediocre. That also depends on whether they finally get some interesting looking planets that dont all look like the woods behind the studio in Vancouver.

I'm so sad I don't have a t.v. anymore! If anyone finds a way/place/site I can watch episodes on line, hit me up!

I'll second that. I was never as fond of the Wraith. They're bad a**es, sure, but the Gou'ald were the original villians from the movie. The wraith just seemed so -eh- to me.

More species might be nice. Maybe more episodes with the Asgard or the Replicators. Those were fun!

(quote shortened by Morbo)

Yeah, or a sand planet. Everything looks like Vancouver or Nevada. Seriously, is there no in-between? Planets are either totally lush like Canada or a barren wasteland like the desert...

I just caught the new one, it was alright, typical character development episode with not much excitement.. I was sort of hoping they'd do a little more to get people hooked first, this was more of a mid-season episode.

Richard Dean Anderson is still eating well

Hopefully it'll pick up soon..

Judging from Episode 1-3 they made the cast more appealing to younger people and the script more appealing to older people.

I have been watching and it literally takes me three times to watch it before I finally concentrate. It just doesnt keep my interest like the others. I have heard from a few that its like BSG which I never really got into.. I will give a full season before I decide..It usually takes me that long to get into a show.

Yeah...it definetely requires a different type of attention-span. Most will get impatient and start doing other stuff while its running. Thats because its slower, more dialogue, more sophisticated.

They are going to lose their comic-book audience.

I totally agree. On the premier, it had me pretty good for the first hour. I completely lost all interest the second hour and didn't "join back in" until the last 10 minutes. The second ep had me sort of interested in the beginning, but I stopped caring with the hapless wandering on the sand planet. And the drama with the late senator and his bratty daughter drives me nuts. Oy.

I also didn't get into BSG.

So the fourth episode has come and gone... another weak episode in my opinion

Maybe they're doing this on purpose... building up to some huge event that'll kick this thing off. Or maybe it's a sign of things to come.

Loved it, was excited since I first heard, what made me happy was how they come flying through the StarGate! Lol, my children and I cracked up and replayed it I dont know how many times. Now thats how you would envision it happening. People are scraming "Ah!, my arm!", My leg!". And when the case comes through and blasts the young sassy math wiz/gamer dude it was priceless.

The writing is still a little weak but it seems like a good idea to introduce the characters one at a time for the most part as they have this way incorporating new people will be more grounded.

The thing that confuses me but is very cool are the 'stones', the ones that enable them to jump back to earth without leaving the ship they are on.

And didnt they say they only had 3 of them? Yet now the main General or what ever he is goes last episode to see his GF, who by the way she acted was a waste, and last week when the senators daughter uses one ot go see her Mom, again a wasted use.

But then in the first episode the smart guy Dr. Rush says he also just used one. Bet they wish they had more now that those were wasted.

I do hope that they somehow get comms up so they can bring in earth characters too.
