Hi

I dont post often and i was randomly searching the web seeking inspration when i saw
a video about how some ufos are invisible it got me wondering just how often do ufos appear now im not saying "aliens" here just ufos (how many a day are aliens you can figure out)

well i ended up at www.nuforc.org...

so i took a nice size sample 1999 - 2009 and totaled up the reports
43036 (and counting)
so how many days in a year 356...
hold on thats erm 3560 days in 10 years thats a lot of sightings per day
multiply that by 24 and you get 87600 (one every 2 hours)

now heres the intresting question how many ufo sightings as a percentage are reported to nuforc ...

how many ufos are there that are NOT seen ?

how many are only visible with infrared cameras...

how many do nasa our goverment etc know about ?
(they released some data but this would suggest A LOT is missing)

based on these numbers and the land/sea size world wide statisticly how long should you need to look up before seeing one ?

A figure you will need to subtract from the 43,036 sightings is the amount of mis-identified objects seen.

So you'll probably be left with about 10 unexplainable ones...

So 10 sightings over the past 10 years works out to be one a year.

as i said "how often do ufos appear now im not saying "aliens" here just ufos (how many a day are aliens you can figure out)"

I do think 1 per year is an unrealistic to low a number bassed on that it would mean that aliens are real and that in the last 10 years they appeared some where on earth either visible or invisible 10 times some of those times being invisible or not seen would suggest that aliens exist but no one has ever seen a spaceship ..

Ah so you mean UFO's in the literal term. My mistake there.

I still believe one needs to seperate the wheat from the chaff though.

As a commisioned sales person I use words like "probably" and "if" a lot in my line of work. "Probably" as you used it means absolutely nothing. Maybe some real statistics would be helpful.

good post OP.

followed by the quote of an uninformed idiot.

however even his quoted one a year means the same as one a centuary if it totally defies the law of physics as we know them
and can be explained by no other explanation than a vehicle under intelligent control then thats the only proof needed for the existance of life from the stars.

notice i said intelligent control .. that rules out americans flying it.

you could safely triple even quadruple that number with the viewed and unreported sightings.

wouldnt surprise me if it was one every couple of minutes world wide.

however out of all of them reported and unreported hundreds of thousands of sightings over the decades only one needs to be a craft.

im not one for hearsay i find it interesting but do not base any belief on it.

i have however seen shuttle footage that leaves me in absolutely no doubt that we are not alone irrespective of what some boneheads rigid beliefs that the earth is the be all and end all of life.

the odds are literally billions to one that earth is the only life supporting planet in our universe/galaxy never mind the trillions of adjoining ones.

While i do belive thinking about how many spaceships are out there is an intresting topic i think first we need to look at how many ufos are out there

on the are they aliens subject there was some intresting research done based on the distance of venus and mars
web.archive.org...
it seems to "possibly" show a pattern or suggest a reason to map planatery alignment to sightings which makes some sense before we launch probes we always check planatery alignment as far as i know so we can use gravity

I think it helps explain why there are so many ufo issues surrounding astronauts if theres so many seeing them for some is "unavoidable"

they see half the planet for long periods of time...

Interesting to look at quantity of sightings over the years...
One thing though: aren't there 365 days a year?

An uninformed idiot?

More like a realist IMHO.

Anyway, my reply was said tongue in cheek...why so serious?

so where does that put the actual figure for time between ufo sightings ?

does any one know of another source of numbers for sightings over the last 10 years ?

your reply was not tongue in cheek .. your reply follows the same pattern as all your replies to the ufo subject.

YOUR here with an agendi.

lol an agenda.

Hilarity.

Anyway, back on topic, having these figures can be useful as well to see paterns such as related sightings near military bases and the like.

agreed where how could we align that data ?

You could go about it a few ways I suppose.

Search for all the sightings within a set radius of particular air force bases (to see if the are any secret aircraft getting about)

Or search for a particular description

Whatever it is, it will take some time I reckon.

The thing is how would we use that data ?
deduct the amount of siteings from the military bases ?
count them as more or less important..

for example The Rendlesham Forest was one of the biggest ufo sightings
because it happened on a airbase...

i will try to work on posting some data here when i can
